I have a question: Is the Morrowind Code Patch savegame compatible? I searched the web, but founf no answer to this question. I have started another run throug with my old Morrowind and stumbled across that patch on the web. But I do not want to restart the game again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

AFAIK the patch alters Morrowind.exe, not your save files.

It should also back up the original .exe, so you can revert back to the unpatched version if necessary.

Just in case, make a backup save and remove it from Morrowind/Saves before installing MCP.
