So, my current savegame crashes to the desktop every time I load it. Of course silly me deleted all the other savegames and autosaves... Is there any utility available that can check/fix savegames, or do I have to restart (again...)?

My experience of Oblivion's non-existent crash-logging system is, at best, a pain. All a user wants to ever know is the formID/cellID/mod that causes the unhandled exception.

Was the location of your last save internal/external? Was it made during combat? Any suspect mods?

I can't help much, but suggest:
Revert to Absolute Vanilla,- except for your mod manager.
Try starting a new game, then load up your save from within the game. Teleport to a remote cell and save.
Wrye Bash's save-game edits Bloat/Abomb/Faction/Hair might help- I have only tried the Abomb.

Your save is probably corrupted. The normal solution is returning to a previous save, but why would you erase all your other saves?
Start a new game, and save save save. (I love to restart so this would not be a problem for me!)

Okay, so, I used to run Oblivion on my laptop, but then I got a new desktop *pets the shiny desktop* and I installed it on the new computer. I can't play on my laptop anymore, because it overheats all the time. But, on the new computer, all the characters move too fast. Like, the animation itself is playing too fast. Walking, running, sneaking, whatever. They zip around everywhere. My character does, too, for that matter, it's not just NPCs.
