I have briefly read bits and pieces on creating your own enchanted weapons. I feel I may be at a point in the game now where I would like to experiment with this.

Someone said in a post a while back that it may be possible to create say, an enchanted bow that never runs out of arrows.

The other item I would most like to be able to create is say a pair of boots like those of Springheel Jak, (mine got destroyed unfortunately during the storyline - no fore-warning!). Perhaps an enchanted ring or amulet that gives you the same effect could be created that gives a continuous effect.

I have had a quick look using the Chironasium alters but the options seem a little limited and I can't see how it would be possible to create any weapons of the like that I am looking for.

Am I barking up the wrong tree? Am I expecting too much? Am I wrong in my assumption that I can create any all-singing-all-dancing weapons?

Am I looking in the wrong place?

I'm on PS3 by the way, so I don't have the option of going in and changing anything - I can't even iron out the game glitches - I've already lost 3 characters who are essential to finishing 3 different quests.

No you can't enchant the items you describe. You would have to use a mod on a PC or do something with the console. However, the good news is that you don't need enchanted items. You can walk around in your underwear and totally rule.

You must first be able to actually cast a Spell with the effect you want to enchant. Then you need a filled Soul Gem.

The strength of your enchantments is based on the size of the Soul used. None of your Skills or Stats affect the power of enchantments.

Grand Souls are the largest size, and there really isn't a reason to use anything less.

Grand Souls are harder to find at lower levels though, but you can always turn empty Grand Soul Gems into Black Soul Gems through a certain ritual and use the Black Soul Gem to Soul Trap an NPC like a Bandit.

All NPC's have Grand Souls, and Black Soul Gems are the only gems that can Soul Trap NPCs.

This will explain it better:
This will explain how to make Black Soul Gems:

The sad thing about Enchanting is, you will never be able to make something on par with the crazier stuff you can find like the Boots of Springheel Jak.

You will never be able to make a Fortify Acrobatics 50 points enchantment. The highest a Grand Soul Gem goes is 10 points, and you can't stack them by using five Grand Souls to enchant the same piece of equipment with 10 points five times. Not without a mod anyway.

"Grand Souls are the largest size, and there really isn't a reason to use anything less."

There are a few things like Night-Eye and Water breathing that can use petty souls, and if you are short on grand souls you can make powerful bows and swords with greater souls that do the job up through level 9-10. But I have found no use for lesser and common souls.

The game has limitations in the way you can do things (can't make a sword that does 50 pts of shock damage), but you can still make overpowered spells and weapons (swords a that do 120, 240 etc pts of combined damage) --if you think 1-3 hit kills are overpowered, but even those translate into 5-6 shots for the big leveled monsters late in the game.)

The problem with the standard method of enchanting in Oblivion is that it costs money. I see little point in wasting gold to make enchanted items unless I'm making something truly unique (e.g. my friend's sword which does a Fire, Ice, and Lightning attack all at once - he called it the Trinity Blade). It's not like in Skyrim where you can enchant junk that you pick up to sell it for more money - the cost of the enchantment is often more than what you'll get in return for selling the item.

So I personally am a big fan of using that you get from closing Oblivion Gates in enchantments. A lot of people don't realise that if you save just before you pick up the Sigil Stone, you can reload indefinitely until you get the stone you want. Yes, it sometimes takes 10 minutes - well, whatever.

If you're level 17 or more, you can get some really nice enchantments. There are also a few bugs in the system, where a more powerful enchantment than normal is granted, e.g. Shock Damage from levels 1-8, Frost Shield at levels 9-12, Shock Shield at levels 9-12, and Resist Magic from levels 5-8. (There may be more but my eyes went funny reading the table).

Enchanting with a Sigil Stone is free, does not require a Soul Gem or an Enchanting Altar, and can be done anywhere. A few of the effects, in particular Feather, grant you a higher level of enchantment than would be available the other way.
