I like increasing my hand to hand skill on oblivion.. and recently i defeated a troll with just punching because he recoiled with every punch.. I assumed my skill had just increased, but then I was killed by a rat.. I had a bow equipped and the game would not let me block or switch weapons..i just recoiled with every attack of the rat. After reloading and cowardly avoiding the rat, i fought a dog who never hit me. he just recoiled each time.. It can't be my block skill, it is decently high and it wouldn't explain why mobs recoil constantly.. So confused..

Well, as says, "Journeymen also cause enemy attacks to recoil when blocking". Is their recoil on every one of your punches or one of theirs?

I saw that a few times. Every blow they landed caused my character to stagger. I chalked up to the random dice-roll which spelled the difference between stagger and stand as being not-so-random at all.

I think Oblivion tends to 'stick' from time to time.

It wasn't outside or daytime. I'm only in the first stages of vampirism (trying to cure myself as we speak) . I think Dark Spark may be correct. hopefully letting my xbox cool will help...
