I finally got around to putting another session in with my completionist character, Aeldra. Wow, I'm closer to finishing than I remembered. Just the Mage's Guild, Knights of the Nine, Main Quest and a few odd long collectors' quests to go. I decided to finish off the odd miscellaneous quest in reverse chronological order, only to discover they were all centered around the Imperial City. That done, I turned in my mages' guild quest and got the next one and headed into the sewers with Baurus. After this I think I'll leave the main quest for last.

I beat the Oblivion main quest for the fourth time. I think...?

Big epic battle at the end is still fun as always. Wonder why Skyrim couldn't have a big awesome epic battle at the end of the main quest.

Since I'm playing as a full Mage for the first time in an ES game, and an Altmer for the first time as well, I've been taking a very slow approach to the game. While I used to be running around sharpening my blade in anticipation for the next fight, now I spent my time indoors, trying to make the finest potions. I'm also quite the reader. Why, today I went the the First Edition and bought quite a few books for my nighty reading session. I bought a nice little shack by the waterfront. It's not much to look at, but it's cozy enough.

Telanis Rundil finished her exploration and has returned to the Imperial City to meet with Baurus.
She hasn't found anymore Oblivion Gates, so it's time to continue with the main quest.

Edit:
After some troubleshooting (I had to fix a crash on character creation), I created a Nord named Alana Ice-Breaker to test out my Stalhrim Armor mod.
She has already completed the Arena (and is known as the Iron Maiden). I won't do the Fighters Guild (don't like them), though I might do Knights of the Nine. No Dark Brotherhood, Mages Guild, or Thieves Guild. Not sure about the Main Quest. No Shivering Isles, either.

Might just keep her around for miscellaneous quests or mod testing. Telanis is the main character.

Edit #2: The Next Day Edition

Well, I thought I fixed it. It was worse than I thought. Even with an unedited ini file, I was getting a constant crash just after the last set of fires on the bridge leaving the Imperial City. I couldn't trace it (wasn't being caused by a mod, or an ini edit since I was using an unedited one), so here comes the fun of reinstalling to see if it shows up again.

*sigh*

RIP Telanis Rundil and Alana Ice-Breaker.

Well, this gives me the chance to try out that character overhaul mod that Nuska made. I was getting a little tired of the potato heads.
Still more than slightly annoyed, though.

Today I did Thieves Guild quests, finishing with Turning the Blind Eye. Also, I fought a few Arena matches. My opponents were big wimps; I finished one of them with a single blow! I guess the audience was disappointed if it wanted a good show. Then, I bet for a few matches, and finally managed to break my losing string. I had already began to think the matches were rigged, since the fighter I had bet on had lost four or five times in a row.

Okay. The decision to reinstall Oblivion is no longer one of regret (a few corrupted files here and there, and one broken mod that took me ages to find). After waiting all day for the Nexus to fix their site problems (all Oblivion mods were saying there was no file for that ID. Was happening for other Nexus sites as well), I finally downloaded Nuska's Character Creation Overhaul and I doubt I'll go back to Oblivion's default heads. These ones are a hell of a lot better. I just wish the ears matched the head.

I was also a little disappointed in the lack of extra eye colors (though the Skyrim-like Dunmer eyes were nice; I used them as a base for some new Altmer eyes), it was fairly easy to correct. I added blind eyes for all races, and several new colors for most of them.
Was pleased to notice that no edits were made to Vampires in the mod. That means my Vampire aesthetics mod should still work, assuming no meshes were overwritten. I don't think they were.

Anyway, I did actually recreate Alana Ice-Breaker before I downloaded the mod.
I got her leveled up and ready to start the Arena again. Though I might have to fix that face. The lips are bothering me.

I also just restarted Telanis Rundil, now with a proper Dunmer appearance rather than the potato head she had before.
I'm using the new blind Dunmer eyes I made with Nuska's texture to stick true to the original. I'll get around to leveling her later.

I played around with this house mod .

I thought it was nice. A bit small and I didn't like the placement or types of some of the containers (too many bags/sacks), or the tiny shrine to Mephala (functions as a chapel alter, so it heals you once a day, but completely drains your fatigue for a few minutes because Mephala is a jerk like that).

So I disabled a bunch of the furniture and replaced it with new stuff bought from the mod. I love IFR so much.

IFR is not perfect though, as the selection of furniture is not as big as it could have been, and when you open a container you have to go through a menu asking you what you want to do (open container, move container, etc).

It would have been better if the menu was coded to only appear if you activate the container in sneak mode. But at least it makes stacking books easy, as I can just activate the bookcase and get a menu that says "Stack Books, Take Books, etc", click stack books, and every book in my inventory is automatically placed neatly on the shelves. It's got a wine rack that does that too.

It's not supportive of COBL either. Which is a pity as it uses the COBL meshes and textures for it's alchemy ingredient containers, but they lack the script that allows them to sort your ingredients.

Telanis Rundil has begun exploring once again. Also, repeatedly closing Oblivion Gates. I had five or so open between Kvatch and Skingrad today. Probably closed another four or five before that. Took a while for them to open (didn't find any until after I took Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple), but now they're opening everywhere I turn.

Still, I've got a lot of catching up to do. I've got to rediscover everything and close all 25 of those Gates. I've got 12 down already. Only covered a small portion of the land from Anvil to Skingrad, so I've still got a lot of exploring to go.

Telanis Rundil continued her exploration. She finished the area between Anvil, Skingrad, and Chorrol, and has begun exploring the area between Skingrad and Bravil.

In her travels so far, she has managed to locate and close 20 Oblivion Gates... Which is faster than the original. Not that it matters. I'm trying to catch up to the original Telanis as fast as I can. This helps.

I led a Mage Apprentice into Bravil, and with a simple Frenzy spell and the Staff of worms, threw the whole place into chaos. It was funny.

Not too long ago, Telanis completed the main quest and became Champion of Cyrodiil. For once, I was pleased to note that the Wrong weapon, but whatever. The last time I went through the quest, the statue didn't even come close to looking like my character.

Telanis also joined the Mages Guild and quickly became Arch-Mage.

Today, she joined the Thieves Guild and is already well on her way to becoming the Grey Fox. She's heading back to the Imperial City to deal with a certain guard issue.

Took a lot of pretty screenshots yesterday, the most I've ever done in one session of Oblivion.

Keon is well on his way to make allies for Bruma. But at the Planes of Oblivion I noticed that i'm getting a little trouble with strong Deadra and a lack of healing potions. The plan? join the mages guild te get cheap potions and better restoration spells.

Telanis completed the Thieves Guild and then immediately went out and got the Grey Fox another 4000 bounty (I was going to torment Lex, but I couldn't find him).
After messing around with that for a while, she went and cleared out a few extra miscellaneous quests from her journal. Got rid of that Nirnroot one, the one involving the Tears (had to resort to using the wire frame command to find the damned things), the one that takes you to Pale Pass, the one inlvolving Raynil Dralas, and maybe a couple more. Including the one for the house in Anvil. I think...

She also started the Dark Brotherhood. Twice.
First time, the game crashed (Microsoft Visual C++, probably one of the few I've seen from Oblivion. Then again, that's what I get for playing for over three hours without stopping). It worked the second time. Now she's about to run off to the Imperial City to kill that Captain.

I just finished the main quest. I have to say I love the last quests, especially the Paradise and the final showdown. The Paradise is so eerie a place, so serenely beautiful on surface but in reality a hell. And, of course, Mankar Camoran's insane prattling inside the character's head makes it all the creepier. Bethesda did great job with the atmosphere there.

After the Paradise I escorted Martin to Imperial City and helped him to defeat Mehrunes Dagon. It had been a long time since I last had seen the last cutscene, so it was very impressive. Also, I only now realized how bittersweet the ending really is. Maybe it's because I've learned in Skyrim how it all turned out, but it all felt awfully tragic. Ocato's and townspeople's celebrating attitude also felt hollow. But well, from that I got a one last piece of roleplay: Not paying any heed to the jubilant crowd or the brilliant sunshine, my character slowly walked home to the Waterfront. There she sat on the beach and stared over the waves, heartbroken because of the loss of her Emperor, until night fell.

Last thing I did today was to visit Bruma to see my character's statue. It turned out well, wearing the Kvatch cuirass and brandishing Bloodsucker, an absorb health ebony sword enchanted with a sigil stone. Funny thing is that the statue actually smiles. One would expect a more sombre expression, but whatever, I like it.

Stood on Dive Rock, staring out at Cheydinhal and the surrounding land. For the first time, I realized just how much work went into constructing the virtual beauty of the Imperial Province... The sunrise made it all the more beautiful... Then I shot fire and shock spells down at the city and watched them. I really wish that if I did that, I'd walk into Cheydinhal later and find a bunch of dead bodies lying in a heap with burn and shock marks... It'd be hilarious.

Telanis finished the Dark Brotherhood the other day and became a Vampire -courtesy of Vicente- before heading off to visit Sheogorath in the Shivering Isles.
Today, she continued from there. She wandered through Dementia until she arrived at the ruin. From there, she reactivated the place and then randomly decided to wander the Isles for no apparent reason.

She went from the ruin to a burrow and then all the way to Hale. She had a snack on one of the folks living there.
At this point, she's finally ready to report back to Sheogorath. Just depends on whether or not she feels like taking the short route, or the long route.

Aeldra finished gathering the Crusader's Relics this weekend and is ready to take on Umaril. After this all that will be left to finish (all that is left that I WANT to finish, anyway) will be the Mage's guild and the main quest. I've already done Shivering Isles - Aeldra is very amused by the implications of this.

So I'm riding from the Roxey Inn to Skingrad. Both of my weapons are broken because I can't repair enchanted items yet, and I'm overencumbered (the feather spell I cast before I got on the horse had long since worn off). I figure I'm just going to run like the wind, and figure since I'm on a horse I can probably outrun anything that wants to chase me.

By the time I hit the turn for Skingrad, I'm being pursued by two wolves, a mountain lion, and a troll. In a panic I try to bring up the menu to check my map, but instead I get off my horse. I'm over encumbered and can't get back on. I desperately cast Feather, leap on the horse, and make a break for it. My blunder was my undoing - the troll and the mountain lion are right on my heels now, and they slash my poor horse right out from under me. I turn around, ready to accept death, the mountain lion leaps for my face, and...my Xbox crashes. I turn it off and back on, and there I am, safely outside the Roxey. I think I'm going to fast travel this time.

Today I tested a new bow upgrade (level 11, Marksman skill at 26, default game setting)--Three shots in a row (no sneak bonus) took out each of the following; Skeleton Champion outside of Sancre Tor, Ogre chieftain holding Honorblade, and Umbra. Test was deemed successful, game was reloaded to let the big bad guys live a bit longer, and I took the bow hunting. I put on the new ring that Meridia gave me, took my shoes off and then cleaned out nearly all of the dungeons between Skingrad and Chorral. Many Will o the Wisps and Trolls knew what it was to be roasted by the arrows of the Slor this day, I can tell you. Then I blocked an attacking rat for a while, fixed some armor, made a bunch of potions and took a nap.

I also hit a bunch of attacking bad guys with my unlock spell because I too often forget to switch back to my attack spell. It might go boom on a chest and knock a welkynd stone off a high perch, but it doesn't slow down lions or vampires or bears. Oh my!
