I'm certain it's been asked before but I couldn't find the thread so I'm asking. I'm more of a collector so I would prefer the Masque simply for the uniqueness but at the same time I do want one of the strongest swords in the game, even for decoration. So which should I pick? And I do realize its ultimately my decision but I would like some opinions.

Umbra is also unique, well in Oblivion at least. Umbra is also the strongest sword in game, base damage wise. So when the enchantments run out, it doesn't quite being a good weapon.

Well, if you have Shivering Isles, Shadowrend is a weapon coming close to Umbra, so if you want uniqness than go with the masque and grab either Shadowrend or possibly Goldbrand, from Boethia's quest. Personally, I usually don't complete it at all and just go around enjoying a zero-weight extremely powerful weapon.

You can, but I think that it may have been patched. If you set it to a hotkey, or favorite, you can access it again.

Yeah I got the Masque because (as mentioned above) Goldbrand and shadowrend are more powerful. I wore the Masque for most of the game, then I set it up in Battlehorn castle with my other treasures and artifacts.

I prefer Umbra, but the Masque is still cool.

I chose the Masque, tossed it in Rosethorn Hall, and forgot about it. Go for the one you're likely to use, even if you outgrow it.

I hate the Masque. Umbra is much better.

The Masque is completely outclassed by the Helm of the Crusader in KotN. So if you are choosing the Masque purely for it's enchantments, then I would reconsider. But if you are just displaying this artifact in your house, I would go for the masque, it's more unique.

Personally I'd go for the sword. But for a collection, I'd say go with the Masque for sheer uniqueness. Nothing else in the game looks remotely close to it. Seriously, it looks like a viking conquistador.

I usually go for the Masque ... but before i do that , i use a Weightless Umbra for most of the game and then complete the Quest near the end

Yeah, I like Umbra because on top of its stats it's weightless if you don't finish the quest.

Umbra all the way. The Masque is next to useless, and it doesn't fit in with the other types of armor. The sword with the 120 sec Soul Trap enchantment and, as Irroki The Wide said, "Jet black. Got a wicked edge on it."

It's not everyday that you get to read the typos you made almost a year and a half ago.
