Its something thats always bugged me about oblivion, many of the classes seem to be totally wrong based on whats already been established and even within the game itself in some cases.

E.g.

Nightblade is my biggest issue, since arena its been the premier stealth magic class and its always been characterized by illusion and sneak as major skills. In oblivion the class even hints at this but low and behold it has neither as a major skill,it also randomly now has restoration? Yet no mysticism?

Next we look at battlemage and also spellsword. Battlemages were established in morrowind to use heavy armor, whats more most BM npcs in oblivion wear heavy armor.... yet no heavy armor major skill? Then on the flip side spellswords now have heavy armor, they've been medium armor users since arena and nearly every class that uses medium armor swapped to light armor for oblivion except spellsword. It sort of seems like nightblade is what spellsword should have been and spellsword is battlemage without conjuring.

A few more minor things are the lack of blade for thieves and the lack of sneak for witchhunters.

Does anybody know why they made all these changes and whats everyone elses opinion on this?

It comes from the general reduction in the number of available skills between Morrowind and Oblivion. They had to re-shuffle the deck of cards, and apparently the dealer didn't have any thumbs.

Yeah sometimes i wonder too. I'm [&@%!] they reduced the number of major skills to 7 from morrowind's 10. Otherwise you'd have some variety in each class.

I know you can just roll a custom class but its besides the point im making really. And yeah the spell effectiveness being reduced by armor is really annoying, especially when robes look so naff in oblivion.
