HELLO EVERYBODY!

I have a little problem.
I was doing well in the game and all was good and jolly... and then I slept, and a vampire bit me! Stupid leech...
It's great and all since it makes you strong, but it sucks (ha-ha..) because you can't be outside for long before you burn up.

BUT... I read that it can be cured. First I drank a 'Cure Disease potion', and then another one... I also ate an Mandrake root and I went to the nearest chapel for a blessing! But none of it worked and I was still a damned vampire... I only know of one last thing to help, which is the quest for a cure, but the quest is incredibly long and difficult...

Does anyone know why the first things I did had no effect? (I did within few hours of being bitten)

Please help!!

The Vampirism cure involves a quest. You can get it by following the steps described in the UESP Wiki:

Getting Started

Before you can start this quest, you must have already become a full victim of Vampirism, not just Porphyric Hemophilia. At that point, "Cure for Vampirism" will show up as a conversation topic, in particular when talking with healers or with Vicente Valtieri. Asking about "Cure Vampirism" will lead to a referral to Raminus Polus at the Arcane University in the Imperial City. But in fact, Raminus doesn't know much, other than that Count Janus Hassildor of Skingrad is a vampire, and may have been doing some research on a cure. At Castle Skingrad, ask the Steward Hal-Liurz for an audience with the Count. Talking to Hassildor yields an interesting backstory on him and his wife and reveals that he will reward you for obtaining a Cure Vampirism potion for his sick wife. But he tells you of a rumor of an alleged witch of Glenmoril who lives somewhere near the Corbolo River (your map places a marker at Drakelowe.)

You weren't bitten by a vampire, what probably happened was you had been fighting vampires, and you caught the the disease called ''Porphyric Hemophillia'', you then waited a reasonable amount of time, and when you slept you became a Vampire. (this is just an explanation of what happened to you, as i don't think you were bitten by a vampire, unless you spoke to the guy who does it for you :P )

the reason the cure disease potion, Mandrake root, and Chapel Blessing didn't work is because Vampirism can't be cured that way, it is a special kind of disease that can only be cured through the quest that Norroen Dyrd mentioned above me.

Alternatively, if you own the ''Vile Lair'' Add-on, which is an official Bethesda Plug-in, it offers a much easier way to cure vampirism, by going to this Vile Lair and finding some fountain thing that cures it for you. I'm sorry to say i don't actually know where you can buy this Plug-in :P

Right-o. Curing vampirism is quite the side quest and adventure... Best of luck! I remember going through the same thing. Man, really made me hate the sun...

Here is a video guide to curing it if you are interested. It should help if you need it.

as for your walk in the sun prob.
bite someone, Beggars are an easy target as they sleep outside.

once you have feed yourself you can just walk in the sun for a day maybe 2
able to walk in the sun makes it more easy to do the quest;)

Being a vampire sucks.

You don't get the full benefits unless you go without feeding which is counter-productive to being a vampire and goes against what is referenced by in-game dialog. Take Janus Hassildor's wife for instance. She went without feeding for so long she slipped into a coma. But if we go by what happens to the PC when they go without feeding, she should be the most powerful vampire in the country!

The actual benefits are a bit lame. You get a Hunter Sight lesser power than grants a nice Detect Life and Night-Eye effect for only 5 Magicka. I don't care for Night-Eye as it prevents me from seeing the shadows I need to stay hidden in. I love Detect Life though. It's a lifesaver! But the rest of the Powers are where it goes downhill.

A 50 point Charm Greater Power. That's nice, but I can only use it once per day. It should have been a lesser power. Also probably could have been combined with a LV25 Calm effect too...or Command Humanoid.

A once per day Silence 20ft for 60sec coupled with Demoralize up to LV6. Again Greater Powers BLOW! And the Demoralize is next to worthless past LV6. It should be a full LV25 Demoralize since custom Demoralize spells are bloody expensive. That would make it the best possible Demoralize Spell in the game.

And then the final power is a once a day Invisibility spell coupled with Night-Eye again. I actually wouldn't change this one much besides getting rid of the Night-Eye. it makes sense to leave it as a greater power as it's obviously meant as a last resort quick escape.

The Fortifications of Attributes is pretty nice though. Strength doesn't do anything to improve your damage output past 100, but it still allows you to carry more stuff. Willpower and Speed still fully count past 100.

The Fortifications to Skills is a waste IMO. Acrobatics and Athletics are the only ones that count past 100. But I guess they're fine for a low level character.

I should just stop complaining and go find a vampirism overhaul mod already!

You can enter the code for the cure potion using the PC console (hit the tilde [~] key while playing). You can find the "playeradditem xxxxxxxxx" code online.

Empty grand soul gems become available in the guild houses/shops early in the game (level 2 or 3 for me)--one at each vender--but that is it until much much later in the game when grand soul monsters show up. So you have to hold on to five or six in case bitten (the witch needs them for the cure).

To cure the infection before it becomes vampirism, always drink a potion and/or go to a temple after fighting blood suckers. I think you have 2-3 days before you can't cure the Porphyric Haemophylia any more (and don't sleep). There is no warning in your journal upon contraction like for other diseases, and you can often miss the game's notification of infection during a fight.

I liked the quest the one time I didn't 'cheat in' the potion. I had most of the stuff in my alchemy cabinet and it was late enough in the game to find empty grand soul gems for sale, so it didn't take long at all.

You may have to sleep and level up several times for more soul gems to show up. If you have bought/used the initial 7-8 from the guilds and shops, they won't stock more until the big monsters show up in the teen levels (and they won't be in caves either). Check Robber's Glen Cave. There is always a minotur lord at the top of the side tunnel after a certain level, and there is often an empty Grand gem in one of the chests.

Embrace your darkness and play as a vampire until then. There are perks.
