From what I understand, the soultrap glitch is as follows--if you combine a target spell with an on-self spell and cast it on a wall/floor, the on-self spell becomes permanent. I think there may be more to it than that, but I've found very little info on the internet, the the wiki is somewhat lacking on the various effect combinations that cause it.

I'm curious if anyone has any prior experience with this glitch. Exactly what conditions cause this glitch to come up? Does this happen with any target spell of any magnitude or duration when combined with a self-spell? Or does the on-target spell have to be 0 magnitude and 1 second for it to work. Also, if anyone knows the programming mechanics as to why this happens, I'd be interested in that info as well--heck, the wiki could use that info too.

Another thing I'm curious about is an alchemy glitch I've seen popping around the internet but have never experienced myself--where every so often, it becomes impossible to make potions, and you get the message "type in your name" and are unable to make potions ever again, thus making Alchemy a skill with a time limit before it becomes worthless. Apparently, this happens randomly and was never really resolved. Anyone know something about it by any chance?

Hmmmm. The blackbird knows. You seek SR71's target effect spells. Much knowledge is found in the deep annals of GameFAQs, but do not hope to find the blackbird these days. The search is difficult, but the answers are there.

is the best I could find in Gamefaqs about the soultrap glitch. You're wrong if you're trying to say I was lazy and didn't do any searching beforehand. That thread really only provides an example of something that works, and not an explanation of the conditions that trigger the glitch consistently.

The data on the wiki is incomplete. Like I said, I checked around the internet--that's kind of why I was asking about it. I might just fix it myself in fact, if I have time later.

I even tested the glitch myself--you can trigger it with many spells with different magnitudes and even area of effects, provided the spell hits a wall before the duration ends. Pretty much the entire internet assumes you need to set the target spell to 1 second with no other settings to get it to work. I was just curious if anyone else has any experience with what the limitations of the glitch are.

Never called you lazy. As you can see, I used to hang there. I've read posts on that very forum that explained in immaculate detail what you're looking for. It was years ago, and I never cared enough to remember the details. I also searched to see if I could find the information myself, but their forum search is utterly useless, and I don't know how long they keep old threads. SR71's last activity was in April. It might not hurt to post your inquiry there in case he still checks in on occasion.

From what I understand, Gamefaqs posts are archived and then deleted after a certain period. That being said, I've probably found most of what I was looking for simply by personal experimentation.

For the record, the soultrap glitch will work with any target spell combined with an on-self effect, provided it hits a surface quick enough, likely before the time limit of the on-target spell expires. I don't know if the on-self effect sticks if any duration is added to it. Maybe I'll test that later too if I have time for it.
