I must refer you to this:
http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/126454 ... omparison/

Vvardenfell is apparently only 9.3 square miles.

Fun fact: Even if Vvardenfell was as large as you've estimated, it would only be about 1% the size of Daggerfall's map.

Maybe so, but 9.3 miles is a [&@%!] size to play in, and it's obviously scaled way down. I mean, looking at the populations and sizes of the cities alone should be indicative that these places are not as large as they would actually be. To test, I just ran from Seyda Neen to Balmora in the game, with a speed of 50 (setting god mode to ensure i could run the whole way), and only carrying the clothes you start the game with. It took 3 hours, in game time. For comparison, the average human running speed is about 10 miles/hour at the low end. This would mean that running the path from Seyda Neen to Balmora alone is a 30 mile trek.

The data I used comes from the Pocket Guide to the Empire, which says that it is possible to see Red Mountain from Almalexia(Mournhold) on a clear day, even though the two are 250 miles apart. Overlaying the game map over world map and drawing a line from Mournhold to Red Mountain, I got my benchmark. It's not perfect, but it fits the lore and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than 9.3 square miles.

Speed was 35, and yes, in game I understand that it matters for how fast the character moves. But for what I'm asking, it doesn't matter.

The scale of the map is what I have shown. Regardless of whether or not it is 100% accurate, it is the basis for my campaign. What I am asking is that if anyone has the capabilities to do some sort of pixel measurements, or something equivalent, that they use the map and scale I provided and help me measure road distances.
