Hello,

Recently, I reinstalled Morrowind on my new laptop. Before I say anything, you would probably like to know that I have not installed, nor do I plan to, install any mods. This is a completely fresh install, but I will add that I had installed Morrowind once before on this particular laptop, but I have since uninstalled it, due to the disappointing view distance Morrowind unfortunately has. This problem only happens in Morrowind, no other games on my laptop are affected. It gets a perfectly frame rate, and this I know, is not the problem. The controls stutter. Sadly, I cannot provide a video, as my laptop lacks Fraps or similar programs, and I don't really want to install filming programs on my laptop.

Every now and then, my controls stutter for a period, or stop working every few seconds. The all the movement keys, with exception of the mouse, are not effected. This can get quite annoying, for example, in combat, as I have to move the mouse choppily, and my weapon draw key may not be working that second, and I may be left helpless, with my battleaxe glued into it's sheath with superglue. This also happens with my "Toggle Third Person" key. However, it does not happen to my "Use" key.

This is quite curious, as I have noticed it mostly effects mouse movement, and character movement controls. I may be repeating myself here, but I am almost sure that this isn't related to my frame rate, because nothing else is choppy. Only my controls are effected.

If anyone knows a fix for this, or has similar problems, that would be a big help. Thanks!

It sounds as though the game's communication with the keys is sloppy, this happens in Java-based games when the communication program (called LWJGL) that feeds between the game and the system is out of date.
My only recommendation then is checking to see if all for Morrowind have been installed.
If that is the case, consider installing the (or you can see the official site ). I'm not sure if it will fix your bug, but it's worth a try.

I have a box set that comes with Tribunal and Bloodmoon, so it would appear to be up to date. I would also like to add that my brother has installed Morrowind on his computer too. Oddly, he does not have the stuttering controls problem that I do. It seems to only happen on my laptop. It isn't being caused by my mouse to my knowledge, since the keyboard is affected (except to the movement controls; However, the jump key is affected.).

I have read another thread, with the topic creator having similar problems, having a reply which claimed setting the max FPS to 60 should fix the problem. I tried it. Sadly, nothing happened at all. The stuttering remains at the time of this post.

As several days have past, I have decided I will post here again. I still have the problem. I still have no idea what is causing it. I hope someone can help, but I don't know if anyone else has the same problem as me.
