I have this weird obsession of giving a stupid amount of expensive goods to whatever shrine of Talos I find out in the wilds of Skyrim. Like, I've literally donated about 10,000 septims worth of goods to various shrines. Everything from powerful weapons to expensive jewelry. I even do this when I'm playing as a dirty elf...

I have a problem.

If a shrine is guarded by angry woodland creatures, the undead, ice wraiths or mages, I tend to loot them willy-nilly. Combat is the price of admission, as it were. Unprotected shrines are the ones I leave intact.

The Talos shrine by the lake gets looted. If anyone protests, I mutter sarcastically "Oh yes: my actions will bring down Talos' wrath to avenge this transgression. I have desecrated this place..." All while kicking over the Thalmor agent who slaughtered all the worshippers.

I forgot how Frost Trolls are more dangerous then freaking Dragons!

Me: YAY! DRAGON!
A few minutes
Me: That was awesome.

Me: Oh [&@%!], a frost troll! RUN! RUN AWAY!
A few saves later
Me: ARGH! FROST TROLL!

*burns the world*

I don't really know where else to put this, so I'm putting it here. ran a driver comparison for a R7 370 (Crimson 15.12; RadeonSI; RadeonSI nine) and a GTX 760 (Nvidia 355; Nouveau; Nouveau nine) (full article ). Anyway, they tested Skyrim under Wine, and the results speak for themselves:

I know what card and drivers I'm getting next.

I just completed the unmarked quest , at level 7. In addition, I was running Requiem, which essentially turns the draugr into cauldron born zombies. It's entirely possible to clear Ironbind Barrow when you're just starting out, as Salma and Beem-Ja can't be killed by anything except friendly fire, and they'll rush ahead and do all the fighting for you. When I got to Gathrik, I let them distract him while my follower and Farkas (who was following me for the Proving Honor quest that I have yet to do) chopped him to pieces. Beem-Ja had already been brought to a knee by the other monsters, so when he turned on me, he died in one hit.

If it's okay with everyone, I'm going to go ahead and add Coming of Age to the list of on the wiki, because it's fairly easy, has no level requirement, and has two rewards that are very useful for characters just starting out. The wiki entry even has a recommended level of 6.

I don't really play Skyrim anymore because I installed too many mods that the game won't get past the starting screen without an infinite hangup. I'm too lazy to fix the problem or reinstall the game, so I just play Morrowind now. It was fun while it lasted though.

Thanks a ton :D I do hang around there frequently so it shouldn't be a problem. But I'll definitely test it out just to be safe. :P

Ulfric's corpse makes for a safe container, no?

When is a good time to retire one's character and start a new game? I already have my own thoughts on this, but I wanted to hear from others. On what do you base your decision to stop using your high level veteran character and restart from scratch?

Previously I've gone by one of the following milestones:

* I've completed the main quest, but not necessarily the DLC main quests.
* My character hits or exceeds level 100.
* I've maxed out every skill.
* I can one shot every enemy I meet.
* The game keeps suffering CTD due to savegame bloat.

A couple of times I've been forced to restart due to installing mods that require a new game. A couple other times, I've gone for 100% completion, but this seems like a waste of time. I've grown rather fond of my current character, and I'm hesitant to retire her. OTOH she's so OP that all the challenge is gone.

Thats basically the way to go. If all the challenge n fun is gone, and all your doing is tieing up loose ends or checking off a list.. It stops being a game and more of a chore

I've only ever made three characters for Skyrim. My first was a nord to basically be a test run n run into quest breaking bugs.

My 2nd was an Argonian, main run and the very same I completed. End game just lost all its challenge, and trying to build three houses wore me out.

My 3rd was also an Argonian, quite essentially the same run with little deviation exept starting the DLCs at an earlier level. It was so much fun to go back and find a challenge, the struggle at low levels and the eventual par at mid level. I never went past that point, had no reason to

I don't know why i laughed so much but I was following Ulfric and we got attacked by a bandit and guess what the bandit said to Ulfric? "SKYRIM IS FOR THE NORDS"

Yeah, the game really spits on the immersion when it makes npcs say completely inappropriate things.
Though it would've been funny if the bandit said that, then followed up with, "Oh! Jarl Ulfric! My apologies, I didn't recognize you for a second. Flagon of ale?"

Yeahhh. Right after that Ulfric got attacked by an Imperial Soldier saying "send Ulfric my regards"

I was for some reason thinking about guilds in Skyrim today, and I realized that I never actually finished the College of Winterhold questline. Is it worth going back and playing it through?

That depends. I didn't really like that particular questline but it's worth a try. Not all that magicky and some of the quests are considered annoying, cause there's a lot of plain ole dungeon delving. But then again, that depends on you because I love dungeons...except Dwemer ones.

I'm not a huge fan of dungeons, but I'd do it if there was a good story behind it.

I actually prefer Dwemer ones, to be honest. :)

I hate Dwemer ruins, and Bthardamz is the absolute worst. Spellbreaker is the most arduous artifact to acquire by far.

Why does no-one like Dwemer ruins? They have such a nice atmosphere.

Maybe it's just me who hates fighting droves of Draugr.

Dwemer ruins are my favorite dungeons. They really allow the devs to be creative with dungeon design, and they have such a great aesthetic. One of my favorite battles was in a Dwemer ruin, where me and my companions had to fight off a bunch of Falmer on top of spinning cogs.
