"Pre-load" just means you can download it so it's all ready to go at midnight EST on Friday when it unlocks :)

It's not playable yet.

I have to say I had a moment... after it finished downloading... and my Steam account had a "PLAY" button by it... when I thought "maybe they screwed up and it's actually playable!"

But... no, lol.

Almost done preloading. Feels a bit redundant since I already have a solid copy. Why can't I just install the game with the disk I have?

Oy, sad thing is I know preloads have been crackable in the past, but often missing ~100 MB of data and grounds for being banned by Valve and losing all your purchased software. It's a deal with the devil I'm not willing to make hahah. Good thing I work with state workers and I have vet's day off. :]

How big is the preload ?

When I'm preloading my percentage bar stays at 0%, but my bandwidth is maxed. Anyways, I don't know if I've reached 100% or if an error or something else has occurred.

Is the total size of skyrim 5.75GB (D:\Installed Apps\Steam\steamapps) ?

I'd say it's around that size, yeah. On my connection it only took about a minute to reach 1%. Some people had issues though and it might be due to server stress at this point.

When you go to your steam library and select Skyrim on the left side, is the preload button still available for you guys?

It is for me and I'm not sure if it should be there or not at this point (I've already preloaded it).

Is anyone else seeing the preload button there ?

It's still there. If you click on it, it'll just tell you you've already pre-loaded it. It'll go away as soon as the game is unlocked (replaced with a "Play" button).

Yeah that's the standard thing. On the stroke of midnight/Friday morn, I anticipate it to change to Play. And I'll have some beer in me at that point for immersion's sake. :]
