Quick question (to offset the previous, novella-length, question): when installing the game using the Daggerfall Setup DOSbox utility, where are the saved game files located? The "SAVE0", etc. folders in the main game directory are all empty, and remain so throughout the game. Not a single file is in there. Yet the game saves and loads games just fine, so obviously the files are being stored somewhere. I've spent some time searching my hard drive for likely secondary locations, as are sometimes utilized by Steam installations and the like, but I can't turn anything up.

To add to the mystery, when I copy & paste those "empty" folders in order to backup saves, the folders behave as though they actually contain the files. Copying these empty folders around allows me to backup and transfer saves, but it doesn't let me actually see, much less work with, any of the files. Furthermore, using this method of copying does not let me transfer saves from the Daggerfall Setup installation to a different installation, such as the free DFInstall.zip provided by BethSoft.

It's all very bizarre. Does anyone have an explanation? I'm playing on Windows 7 x86.

Ha, never mind, just found it. Naturally.

For those who are interested, I found the save folders in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Daggerfall.
