Bronze Water Cave

Bronze Water Cave is a small cave west of Windhelm containing leveled animals. It contains only one zone, Bronze Water Cave.

The entrance to the cave is on the north shore of the semi-frozen Lake Yorgrim. Several Dwemer bronze pipes on either side and in front of the entrance seem to be distributing hot water or steam into the lake.

Upon entering, there is a short tunnel that opens into a small chamber containing more pipes along the walls. Two leveled animals have made this cave their home. On the ground are various bones, both human and animal, as well as blood and gore. Among the debris is a random potion. Against the east wall is an unlocked Dwemer chest, and farther to the south (towards the exit), beside the same pipe, is an apothecary's satchel.

The cave's main purpose is to serve as an escape route from the flooded Irkngthand Sanctuary near the end of the Thieves Guild quest Blindsighted, with the exit from Irkngthand Sanctuary in the back of the cave. During the quest, this cave will not contain any animals. After completion of the quest, Bronze Water Cave can be used to access Irkngthand Sanctuary.

Bugs

• The Dwarven spider ambush outside Bronze Water Cave can be triggered prematurely due to the spiders not being disabled prior to the Fishing quest Beneath Bronze Waters. If the ambush is triggered prematurely, the quest will then be impossible to start, as the spiders are required for the quest.
  • The Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, version 4.2.9a, fixes this bug.
