Ulfsild

Ulfsild was a part Nord, part Reachfolk and the wife of the great Archmage Shalidor. She left him due to his obsession with obtaining the Folium Discognitum and Eyevea. Sheogorath will show you a vision of this moment in an interlude within his sick play.

Circus of Cheerful Slaughter[edit]

Ulfsild and Shalidor

On the path to Daggerwaymore and through a cemetery gate, you'll find Shalidor writing notes and a frustrated Ulfsild:

Ulfsild: "You didn't come home last night. I waited all night for you. Have you been working this entire time?"
<Shalidor continues to write, making no sign that he heard her.>
Ulfsild: "Shalidor! Eyevea is lost … you're obsessed! Can you even hear me?"
<He continues to write.>
Ulfsild: "I can't do this anymore. You love your spells and scrolls more than you love me. I'm leaving you. Can you hear me now?"
<Silence.>
Ulfsild: "Goodbye … you stupid old fool."
<Ulfsild disappears, Shalidor stops writing and looks around.>
Arch-Mage Shalidor: "Ulfie … my love? I swear I just heard you. Where did you go?"

When you rescue Shalidor's facsimile in Daggerwaymore, he admits he would have given up the island for her if she had given him the choice.

The Scholarium[edit]

Ulfsild plays a significant role in the Scribing questline. While she doesn't physically appear, various projections of her are seen throughout the Scholarium and Sunnamere:

The Wing of the Crow[edit]

Ulfsild the Evergreen

A projection of Ulfsild the Evergreen appears in her home at the end of this quest.

After you activate the Echo of Ulfsild:

Votary Nahlia: "It's Ulfsild! But she looks older. Happier."
Ulfsild the Evergreen: "It's been years since my time in the Scholarium, but I realized I never left a final message behind.
As my life draws to an end, I've left a few things unsaid."

You must speak to her projection.

"I'm certain history won't carry on my name. I never sought recognition. I created Scribing to understand magic better. To understand myself better.
But, of course, my journey did not end when I left the Scholarium."
Hmm.
"The ritual to create a Luminary took an enormous toll. It took years to recover, and Shalidor was long gone by that point. It was a dark time. But it wasn't the end of my story.
Dark chapters are just that, moments in time. Downturns in the tale."
I see.
"Things got better. I found new purpose, students eager to learn. New partners in research, and new partners in life.
When I was a young woman, I was obsessed with the Scholarium. With the power of the Luminaries."
Right.
"As I cast this echo, surprised how easily the magic came back to me, I have much to be grateful for.
I'm a respected hedge wizard in Skyrim. They know me only as a compassionate, wise teacher."
Hmm.
"Which brings me back to you. I know you didn't walk this path alone. I made sure of it. I hope it was worth it.
Take from this place the Sigil of the Crow. And know that Ulfsild the Evergreen never forgot her magical friends."
Thanks, Ulfsild.

After you talk to the echo of Ulfsild the Evergreen:

Ulfsild the Evergreen: "My days will end soon, I think. But they end happy. With me at my little desk, in my little home, scratching away in some journals.
My fable, my story, ends where it began. Now go. And scribe your own."
Votary Nahlia: "I will. We will! I promise."

Her echo will then dissolve.
