Leveled this, leveled that...[edit]

I think I'm having a lot of confusion with the right interpretation of the Offset and Attack damage mult parameters (in CS) for creatures/NPCs whose level depends on the PC's.
Please let me know if I'm wrong:

  • A -1 Offset means that if the PC is level 8 then the creature/NPC will be level 7?
  • A 10 Attack damage mult means that a level 11 creature/NPC attacks with 10×11=110pts?

It's quite important for me to know exactly these things because I have to put them into a table and I wish that all numeric values are correct.
—FstTeslaT 18:10 14 January 2008 (GMT+1)

The first is correct.
The attack multiplier is a bit more complicated. It is true that for Health and Magicka it works like CreatureLevel × Multiplier, but for attacks this would be too much. The multiplier works like: Multiplier + Creature Level / 2.
Quite confusing name, isn't it? --Timenn < talk > 17:14, 14 January 2008 (EST)
Why call it Multiplier then?!? =) Well that's enough for now!

Congratulations...[edit]

... you've just been made a cartographer :) Since you probably have no idea what that means, you may want to check out these two pages: User:Daveh/Map and User:Daveh/SiMap. Now that you're a cartographer, you should see a tool that allows you to edit the markers displayed on the map (previously, without your new permissions, the page should have just appeared to be blank). You can use search to pull up any location in the list, then click "edit" to make that location's info show up in the edit box at the bottom. Modify as needed! (Although keep in mind that there are no convenient wiki-style "undo" features). --NepheleTalk 19:29, 15 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks! I will try to play around with it first... Oh wait, there's no undo! ;)
A good start for me would be the map markers for Bliss, they may need some moving around. The SENSBliss map doesn't totally fit into the SEWorld map, so I had to cut that one a little (Notably the fountain at the entrance). --Timenn < talk > 09:29, 16 January 2008 (EST)

Dagoth Images[edit]

Nothing major, just noticing that you're using the same image for each of the Dagoths of a given type. While this does save us from creating and uploading a large number of images, it is somewhat misleading. The pictures are all taken inside one of the cave-like Sixth House bases, and many of the Dagoths are not found in caves but in Dwemer ruins (Vemynal, Endusal, Odrosal, Tureynulal, Dagoth Ur), Dunmer fortresses (Falasmaryon, Kogoruhn), etc. Even with caves, there are some distinguishing features. For example, the caves of Mamaea have a whitish type of dirt texture which is found almost nowhere else in the game. It might just make more sense to get actual individual shots for each of these. The generic ones you put up will do for now, just something to think about for later. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:20, 23 January 2008 (EST)

I know there is a variety in backgrounds, but the creatures all look the same. I deliberately picked the cave background, which seemed most neutral. In fact, they were spawned there by console, and do not represent any Dagoth. When I browsed through the Morrowind Pages Needing Images I saw this whole list of Dagoths, where most have no role other than being an enemy creature on your path (I did provide unique images for the Ash Vampires). I believed that providing unique images for every Dagoth in the game was something for the would-be-nice list. Providing images for all the other entries would have more priority. I could have left the Dagoths in the category, but I rather have such a picture, than none at all.
Seperate images is something than can always be done later, but judging from your comment, you have a similar idea about it. --Timenn < talk > 06:15, 24 January 2008 (EST)

Differences Morrowind/Oblivion guide[edit]

Hi Timenn, I liked your input on the proposed article and I see that you have extended experience in both games. Would you be interested in authoring or co-authoring such a guide, after a few more rounds of response on Morrowind:Talk page? I feel such a guide would be very helpful for the player-base, now that people maybe are done playing Oblivion. Maybe a short link to the discussion on Oblivion:Talk could gage interest from that community...--Cheers, BenouldTC 14:13, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

I have to think about that. I don't have enough time to author it myself, but I think I can help with several items. There are definitely some significant differences between Oblivion and Morrowind that I think need to be mentioned. Though I'm not sure where such guide should be posted. My suggestion is the Oblivion namespace, as Oblivion is newer than Morrowind. But there is nothing wrong with linking to it from the Morrowind section.
As this would concern Oblivion as well, I believe making a link on its talk page is not a bad idea.
But first things first, you are sure there is no guide that already covers (part of) this information? --Timenn < talk > 14:25, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
I have not found a guide for this, so I started a stub page to get the ball rolling. Please contribute as much as you can at Morrowind:Morrowind for Oblivion Players, I'll format and organize as we get further. Cheers, BenouldTC 17:18, 22 May 2008 (EDT)
Though I learned the differences between the games from playing Oblivion after Morrowind, I think I can help to add and correct a few items. --Timenn < talk > 10:46, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Code questions[edit]

Timenn, do you have another page for the mod you linked to here? That link seems to be dead. On a related note, do you still have the code I emailed you for cleaning up the SI map tiles? The reason I ask is that my HD crash rendered me bereft of both... –RpehTCE 14:51, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

It seems like entire faculty site was down yesterday, but the file is still there, so the link should work now.
I mailed you the version of MapTrimmer I have. I hope you didn't lose too much data with your HD crash. --Timenn < talk > 05:59, 20 May 2008 (EDT)
Thanks Timenn, you're a star! –RpehTCE 13:15, 20 May 2008 (EDT)

thanks![edit]

thank you timenn for helping me out as im very new, only a couple of days old. — Unsigned comment by Geneticist (talkcontribs)

You're welcome. As it says on the Getting Started page, do not worry too much on making edits. You can always use the Edit Summary to explain your edit, or post a comment on the article's talk page. --Timenn < talk > 10:56, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Descriptions[edit]

Ah, so I see I've screwed up already *chuckles*. Well, glad to see you didn't just call me a retard, but instead used summaries to notify me of my screwup. Yeah..I was gonna go through every desc. page and remove all links. Guess that would have been a bad idea ;) DaedryonTCE 04:17, 31 July 2008 (EDT)

Don't worry, I don't jump at people that fast. ;) My post on your talk page (crosstalk) was a bit short, but was mainly intended to stop us both for doing work that could be prevented. We encourage people to be bold here, so I'm not surprised you were so enthusiastic about it, nothing wrong with that. Though if you think an edit might have a great effect to the site's style, it is a good idea to start your idea on a talk page first. --Timenn < talk > 04:25, 31 July 2008 (EDT)

Portal[edit]

I noticed that your message on the "Still Alive" topic by TheRealLurlock, had a reference to Portal, more exactly GlaDos. Do you play Portal and could you make me a box thingy (forgot what they're called)that has the portal symbol and says something like: This user plays Portal, or a Steam one that says: This user uses Steam. Or something like those. Helper Unknown 19:30, 22 September 2008 (EDT)

I'm not currently playing Portal, but I have finished it a few times. Setting up a Userbox should be easy enough, I just need to grab a good image for it. Would you prefer the Aperture Science logo, or just the Portal icon? --Timenn < talk > 05:59, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
Portal Icon. Aperture Science should be something like: "This user works at Aperture Science". Helper Unknown 20:47, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
Well, take your pick, or you might wish to pick your own colors. --Timenn < talk > 10:10, 24 September 2008 (EDT)

Pictures[edit]

I was just wondering how did you get the bottle into the goblin's hand. — Unsigned comment by Jay480 (talkcontribs) on 5 October 2008

I didn't. At several places in the game you can find "drunken" Goblins, already placed there like that by Bethesda. Actually, your question made me look them all up:

Image editing[edit]

Hi i just joined today and what do you mean by image editing? oh and on the morrowind glitches i added a new glitch that crashes the game is this a breach of rights? if it is i shall remove the glitch --Jamer215 12:10, 9 October 2008 (EDT)

Hi, welcome to UESP. I'm not sure what you mean with breaching rights, but as long as edits are made in good faith you don't have to worry.
As for image editing, I assume you refer to what I say on my userpage. One of my activities has been capturing screenshots for uploading images to the site. But most screenshot images need tweaking (e.g. they are too dark) before they are usuable as an image to describe a subject in question. If you need help with making your own images, feel free to ask. --Timenn < talk > 09:35, 11 October 2008 (EDT)

Don't make changes based on unproven assumptions[edit]

LOL

So it's fine to STATE something based on an assumption that isn't just unproven but has compelling evidence that it ISN'T true, and directly contradicts another page on the wiki, but actually changing it so the two pages match is bad. Got it. — Unsigned comment by Aliana (talkcontribs) on 12 October 2008

Indeed. Changing a page to your line of thinking in the middle of a discussion not considered to be acceptable. I'm glad you finally got that. --Timenn < talk > 09:50, 12 October 2008 (EDT)

OPRP[edit]

Hey, thanks for the positive comments left, really appreciated it. As I've pointed out on the Dark Fissure Talk Page I don't know whether I can now remove the OPRP clean-up tag at the top of the page. Also, I went on the Project page and then to the Progress page where it says to include the location you have edited and to tick off the boxes. The thing I can't get around is actually aligning the columns of the chart to the ones on top. Help very welcome. --SerCenKing 12:38, 12 October 2008 (EDT)

You're welcome. I think it's OK to remove the tag, but I can't be 100% sure as I'm not a participant in that project. See also my comment at Dark Fissure.
I've added Dark Fissure to the [[UESPWiki:Oblivion Places Redesign Project/Progress|Progress page]], so you can see how it's done. You'll probably only be interested in the Walkthrough (the fifth) field, and since the other stuff was done a long time ago, you can just fill in questions marks there. Just ask if you have more questions. Good luck! --Timenn < talk > 06:45, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Hey, sorry to bother again but I've recently been checking out the Fort Cuptor page, which I plan on cleaning up in the next few days. I have come across quite a scenic chamber with necromancer altars and tapestries. Since I suck at imaging would you mind checking it out and see if it's worth the while? (the chamber is on the first level in the SE corner). --SerCenKing 05:46, 16 October 2008 (EDT)

Done. Believe it or not I had that one, and a couple of others, hanging around on my disk waiting for me to upload them. Let me know if you think it's okay. –RpehTCE 12:38, 16 October 2008 (EDT)

"A personal "thank you!" for your great efforts to fill in the missing info on the Dremora page. Keep it up!"--LordDagonT|C 11:19, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Thanks! The page is not yet finished, but it's nice to know that the work is appreciated. And after all, they're Todd Howard's favourite enemy! :-) --Timenn < talk > 09:14, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for creating Template:User Rank. I guess everyone here doesn't like the idea of having a ton of userboxes everywhere. Sorry for any trouble I caused by creating all those. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 13:56, 21 October 2008 (EDT)

Don't mention it. We all learn a bit every day, otherwise the world would be boring as hell. ;-) --Timenn < talk > 09:16, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

Stores Revamp Project[edit]

Hey, since I really don't want to start an 'editing war' I just wanted to make some points clear about the Stores Revamp Project that I recently started. First off I think that it is important to include what the trader buys, especially for people with charcters which don't have 50 Mercantile. Secondly, I'm trying to use a single structure-outline for each article: currently I'm using Novaroma as an example but if you have a better article or template please tell me. Last but not least instead of continuously editing each other's edits why don't we work together? I would appreciate help from someone more experienced than me since this is my first independant project. Thanks. --SerCenKing 16:53, 29 October 2008 (EDT)

It was not my intention to make it appear as an edit war, or that I was reverting your edits. I was looking for what would be the best way to list what can be bought and sold, while still keeping the text well readable. I must admit that your example at Novaroma is better than my attempt, so if you stick to that I'm happy. Keep up the good work! --Timenn < talk > 17:49, 29 October 2008 (EDT)
Don't worry, I never thought you intended to: I actually thought you would consider my edits as one! =) Good to know all is good! I'll keep up using Novaroma but if you have any suggestions please tell me. Thanks. --SerCenKing 08:49, 30 October 2008 (EDT)

Images for OPRP[edit]

Hey, I've recently cleaned-up two articles for the OPRP, namely Fort Doublecross and Pothole Caverns. I was wondering if you could check out two locations I found and see if its worth taking a screenshot to add to the main articles. The locations are: Fort Doublecross, 1st zone, the middle chamber with a stone slab, a pic of the altar and tapestries would be nice. Pothole Caverns: the large chamber in the middle, the area consisting of two altars, a sacrifical altar and corpse.

Thanks a lot in advance, --SerCenKing 14:17, 13 December 2008 (EST)

Done 'em :p –RpehTCE 18:03, 17 December 2008 (EST)
