Welcome[edit]

Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thank you for your interest in contributing to the site! If you believe that content needs to be deleted from a page, be sure that you leave a brief explanation for the deletion in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. People who monitor the wiki are very suspicious when anonymous editors remove content, and may mistakenly revert your edit as vandalism. You may also want to look over our Getting Started guide. TR Faction pages[edit]

While your help is appreciated, I'd like to point out a few things you should keep in mind on these:

  1. Don't put in links to cities which don't exist in currently-released maps. This means anything outside of Maps 1 & 2. The others may be available to TR insiders, but since they aren't available to the general public, we should not be creating pages for them or links to such pages until such time as they are released.
  2. Be more careful checking the Friends & Foes section. You've made numerous errors on every page you've created. In particular, any faction which has the same reaction value in both Vvardenfell and Mainland versions only gets one entry, and those with different values must have two, and they must link to the correct faction page. Look at the corrections I've made to these pages to see what's expected.
  3. Skills are generally listed alphabetically. This goes for both the infobox and the "Favored Skills" section.
  4. Links to every NPC on the people chart are not necessarily wanted. The general practice for Morrowind pages is to only link to "relevant" NPCs. Thus we don't need a link for people like the slaves in Great House Indoril, or other such minor characters. I've been omitting all links for a reason, since I don't necessarily know which NPCs are relevant in TR, but when adding links, we should only add them to the important characters, those who provide services, or are quest-related, etc.

If you keep these things in mind, it'll save me a lot of work cleaning up after you. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:12, 8 February 2009 (EST)

In fact "any faction which has the same reaction value in both Vvardenfell and Mainland versions only gets one entry" is a newly-invented rule and one that isn't accepted. All faction reactions should be listed because otherwise people will wonder why the faction they're looking for isn't there.
Thanks for your help! I'd been hoping we'd get people from the TR project popping in and it's good to see that starting to happen. –RpehTCE 13:37, 8 February 2009 (EST)

NPCs[edit]

I'm just wondering where your Alarm and Fight values are coming from? The three you've just done (Ardur Salvendu‎, Cunus Pompus and Fabius Varian) have different values in my version to the ones you've added. I'm fairly sure I have the latest version... are you using an internal build? –RpehTCE 15:14, 9 February 2009 (EST)

I've just used the general ones. If you want them to be more specific, can you show me the easiest way to add this kind of information to the wiki? I think I take too much time per NPC as it is. (I try to add many of them to show which NPC's are worthwhile in my opinion, so the other pages can be taken out)Theviking 15:21, 9 February 2009 (EST)
Not sure what you mean by "general ones". To get the values I checked in the AI section of the CS. The fastest way of adding NPCs is to do what I did and write a computer program to generate the content (minus some stuff for which I don't know the formula - auto-calc Health and Magicka). I've been holding off adding them all until I know which ones are "relevant". –RpehTCE 15:32, 9 February 2009 (EST)

Thank you for all your work in the Tamriel Rebuilt section of TES3Mod. Even though I know absolutely nothing about it I can see how much you've put into it... Well done, and long may it continue! --SerCenKing 15:26, 24 February 2009 (EST)

Images[edit]

There are a few problems with the images you've uploaded: they don't follow the wiki's naming conventions ("TR Alt Bosara.jpg" should be "TR3-Map-Alt Bosara.jpg" for example), they're incorrectly categorized (as screenshots from the game or the editor, they're not public domain but taken from the Elder Scrolls) and they don't have an appropriate category. Could you keep those points in mind in the future? Thanks. --Gez 16:28, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

Redirects and Templates[edit]

I'm afraid that redirects and templates don't work well with each other. You'll have to manually put the link in, rather than using {{TR3|Page}}. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 17:18, 17 April 2009 (EDT)

Thanks, I believe I've got it now. I was trying to see how you guys did it, since I couldn't read an edit in previous similar redirects.Theviking 17:22, 17 April 2009 (EDT)
Great! One other thing that I forgot to mention though, remember to add them to the Category:Redirects to Broader Subjects and sort them under their own name (Check to see how I've done it) Aside from that, congratulations on getting the hang of redirects so fast! - Game LordTalk|Contribs 17:25, 17 April 2009 (EDT)
Oops, except we've just made some significant changes to how categories are sorted (see here), which means that we actually don't need to manually tell the wiki how to do it any more. So simply typing [[Category:Redirects to Broader Subjects]] should be enough. Although, while I'm at it, you might also want to check how the NPC redirects have been done for some of the Morrowind NPCs -- for example Morrowind:Angahran. Actually, to actually see the page, this is a better link. If you edit the page, you'll see that there's a Non-Relevant NPC template being used on all of those pages that automatically takes care of all the categories. --NepheleTalk 17:42, 17 April 2009 (EDT)

Maps[edit]

Thanks for all the great work on the TR3 pages! Thanks too for the maps you've been doing. Can I ask just one favor though? Please press "M" in the render window before taking the screenshot. That takes the markers off the image, as required by our standards. Thanks again! –RpehTCE 16:52, 27 April 2009 (EDT)

Two more unused NPCs[edit]

I saw you went through and proposed a number of NPCs for deletion, which is great. What about Ba'Zhek and Marcus Assirius, neither of whom seem to exist. Can they be deleted too? The only other NPC that still needs an image is Goras Tarven who I can't get to appear. In fact something odd seems to happen in the catacombs, but it might just be because I'm coc'ing straight in. –RpehTCE 07:18, 4 May 2009 (EDT)

I think Ba'Zhek can be proposed for deletion as well, I missed him the last time. There are plans to use Marcus Assirius in the imperial cult questline, so I wouldn't delete him right away. By the way, thanks for the cookie, it tasted quite good!Theviking 07:52, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
Actually I removed the location from Ba'Zhek this morning after I spent several minutes trying to track him down so he could have his picture taken... now prodded. –RpehTCE 11:16, 4 May 2009 (EDT)

Maps[edit]

I asked Gez, but he wasn't able to do it; so I'll ask you: could you map a TR4 Map? I've seen your talent with TR3 Maps and was wondering if you could get the level and exterior maps for Polle Gold Mine. Thanks --SerCenKing Talk 14:12, 2 June 2009 (EDT)

I'll do my best, but I can't do this until the weekend. I have a pretty good idea how to do it, just make a screenshot in-game and then modify it later on, right?Theviking 18:17, 2 June 2009 (EDT)
I think that question is best asked to Rpeh! The reason why I'm asking you is because I am clueless myself! Anyway, don't worry about time, there is no real rush. Thanks for helping out! --SerCenKing Talk 10:03, 3 June 2009 (EDT)
I tried to make one, but I couldn't even take a screenshot. I tried to find out how to make one, but it seems I have fulfilled every requirement to make one and I still can't. I have the allowscreensshot enabled in my ini and anti-aliasing is off. Maybe the picture is saved somewhere, I looked, but since I don't know it's name it's going to be very hard to find.Theviking 06:46, 7 June 2009 (EDT)

Tamriel Rebuilt Redirects[edit]

I'm just patrolling all the Tamriel Rebuilt redirects you added, and I'm noticing a couple of oddities. Since I have no knowledge of Tamriel Rebuilt, I can't verify the information, so I thought I'd go straight to the source. In each case, I've gone for a "majority rules" correction, so if it was spelled the same way in two places, but not in the third, I usually corrected the third (though I was a little inconsistent, in that I haven't changed the redirect pages with spaces, pending your confirmation).

  • For both Ra'Mahrah and Ra'Kil, the redirect pages (Ra'Mahrah, Ra'Kil) have spaces after the Ra' in their titles, but the names on the target page don't.
  • Ditto Kim'Halah (I'll let you find the page link this time...I've get about 50 pages open right now, and it's getting confusing <g>).
  • Haj'Ralah also suffers the same problem, only in his case, both the page AND the redirect have spaces in them, but the name on the page doesn't, effectively breaking the re-direct. For now, I've added a space to the name on the target page as the easiest fix.
  • Aldyni Veran/Veram's last name was spelled two different ways.
  • Andrin Vari's name was also spelled two different ways.
  • Milia Northi's redirect was pointing to Mila Sirathi, but that was easily corrected, and I've already done so. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:37, 3 June 2009 (EDT)
It is possible I made a few mistakes, but I tries to be as thorough as possible with the lists I made where the redirects lead to. I always have the habit of clicking the link in the TES3Mod: Tamriel Rebuilt/People page and then making the redirect to the respective pages. Sometimes the name in the people page was different, and then I just kept the name in the final list as valid. I always try to get it right but there are so many people in Tamriel Rebuilt that errors creep up eventually. I think it isn't such a great deal as these people probably won't be linked to anyway (since most are just slaves) and the main goal of creating the redirect for me was to add the people to the respective categories. I hope this explanation suffices.Theviking 12:56, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
I just wanted to make sure that somebody who knew more than I did about the mod was able to make any required corrections, in case my choices were the wrong ones. That was clearly a lot of work on your part, and a lot of repetitive C&Ping, so mistakes were bound to happen. Thanks for doing it all! --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 13:54, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

Redirects[edit]

I see that you have been making a lot of these lately; however, are they even necessary? Having one place link to Name: Enchanter when it could just as easily linked to Name seems odd. What is the true purpose? —Elliot(T-C) 23:43, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I just love the automatic categories, and by making these service redirects I can add them to the category (places within a city or town) and (types of shops). This was done already with the stores of Firewatch and most of the categories were in place. So I though it would be cool to fill them. For examples, see: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Tes3Mod-Tamriel_Rebuilt-Places-Helnim and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Tes3Mod-Tamriel_Rebuilt-Places-Traders A second reason is that not all shop names follow the format Name:Trader, for example see Edheldur's Rookery.Theviking 23:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I guess these eventually can be expanded upon. Thanks for clarifying! :) —Elliot(T-C) 23:58, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand. If categorizing shops is a problem, adding hundreds of redirects doesn't seem like the way to fix them. Why would you create a redirect for a shop that links to the owner's page when you could just link it to the NPC's page to begin with? Or better yet, create shop pages? I'm not against redirects that are actually useful and necessary, but redirects for the sake of categorization should be avoided. –Eshetalk 00:28, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Hundreds? I'm done now, except one shop that I know of: (Neldam Volothre's in Verulas Pass. I found that the categories existed for Firewatch already and one shop in Bal Oyra, so I decided to expand on it. Similarly, some of the towns from Tamriel Rebuilt have a building in them that was already categorized: for example Tel Darys, is categorized within the places-Gah Sadrith category. It would look stupid if those place-categories had a single occupant.
I understand that my redirects were created for the sake of categorization, but wouldn't it be cool to have an overview of for example all the alchemists in Morrowind eventually?Theviking 00:42, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it would make more sense to put a manual shop category on the NPC's page than to have a bunch of redirects that we don't need. This could easily be modified to organize the shops by type. I just can't see how it's justified to have unnecessary redirect pages to do something that could easily be achieved by adding a category to an existing page.
Also, all of the NPCs in Morrowind who provide Alchemist services are already listed at Category:Morrowind-Alchemist_Service as well as Morrowind:Alchemist, so I'm not sure what you're getting at there. –Eshetalk 00:50, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) Late to the party... I seem to have missed this little debate. Redirects for the sake of categorization are what about 90% of the site's redirects are for. Until very recently, redirects like Oblivion:Clogs just populated the Shoes category. They only became useful with the ONPCRP. In this case, having a category that can be used to list all the shops in the mod is very useful, so I'd carry on making the redirects. –rpehTCE 20:41, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Lost Edits[edit]

I'm guessing you're probably responsible for a few TR3 pages that got lost during the database outage. I've tried to restore some of the pages, but probably some wiki-formatting was lost in the process. Pages you might want to double-check include:

So far, I'm only about one-third :( of the way through, so it's very likely some pages haven't been restored. If there are some pages you know are missing, let me know and I may be able to recover something.--NepheleTalk 06:09, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Those pages seem to be the way they were when I left them. Thanks for your recovering work, I'll let you know if i miss something.Theviking 18:27, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Class Redirects[edit]

I'm not sure why you've been creating redirects for NPC classes. Redirects like this and this shouldn't be necessary - we set the NPC Summary template up specifically to get around the missing link problem. I just tested that the pages worked without templates by deleting one and restoring it. Am I missing something here? –rpehTCE 19:53, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

They were showing up in the wanted pages section, if you look there are still plenty of them left to do. I'm a bit confused about the working of the summary and why they are showing up. But it takes me seconds to make a redirect so I thought it would be an easy job to do those and empty the wanted pages section more. Unless you want me to stop after seeing the wanted pages off course..Theviking 20:02, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
It's one (of several) problems with using functions such as {{#ifexist}} in templates -- the page is still processed as having a link to the non-existent page. The link doesn't show up on the page as a red-link, but it does show up in any places where links are listed. I also happen to think the way we're treating classes (and several other NPC params) right now is pretty messy, but that's really a different discussion. Except that long-term I don't think we'll need such redirects. If creating them makes it easier for you, however, in the short-term, there's no real reason not to create them. --NepheleTalk 20:31, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Ah, Wanted Pages. I should have known. Yes, in that case it's fine to create them. I hadn't realised they were showing up. –rpehTCE 12:55, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey![edit]

Good to have you back working on those TR3 pages! Hopefully I'll be able to help you and rpeh sooner or later. Btw, you still involved in TR or not? --SerCenKing Talk 21:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

No, sadly not, although I'm listed as a honorary member. I just can't find the time because of the 11,5 hours a day I have to spent with my job (I live 80 km's from it). Thanks for the welcome.Theviking 21:56, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
It's definitely good to see even a few edits from you again. You can probably tell that most of the missing pages have now been created but there are a lot of stubs that need fleshing out. Any time you can spend on those would be much appreciated! rpeh •TCE 05:32, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Welcome back![edit]

Good to see you around again, and working on the OPRP. One thing: when you verify a location, please can you add a "checkedby" parameter rather than deleting the tag? Like this. It lets us keep track of who's done what in case there are questions. We'll get a bot to remove all the tags in the end. Thanks. rpeh •TCE 00:04, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you, rpeh, I will do that. Glad to be back, especcially since I can play oblivion with my new computer! Theviking

OPRP info[edit]

Hey Theviking! I noticed that you marked Fort Ash as “Checked” just now. I am sorry, but that is not how the new system works – no worries, you cannot find out how the system works as the guidelines haven’t been written yet.
First, the page MUST have an author before it can be marked as checked. It’s pretty simple really:

  • THIS CATEGORY contains all the place pages without an author. Keep in mind, that there are guidelines on how the walkthroughs should be written, so sometimes walkthroughs are present, but without an author. That means that I (yes, I read through every page) deemed it “lacking”. When a proper walkthrough is written you fill out the “writtenby”-column on the tag, which moves the page to
  • THIS 2nd CATEGORY. These are the pages that are ready to be checked by someone else than the author. Once that is done and you mark a page as checked, it moves to
  • The final CATEGORY. These pages are basically finished and can all be used for inspiration on how to write and check pages and what the walkthroughs should contain.

I keep the first two categories bookmarked at all times, depending on my mood. I mentioned before that there are guidelines, but these can't be found anywhere. Most importantly the walkthroughs MUST refer to the maps - like explaining what that A on the map means, but never just as a description of the map. I suggest you read through a few of the pages in the third category, just to get inspired. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. All the best and thanks for joining this project! --Krusty 19:50, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Hello again! We still have a problem here. If you think the walkthroughs are good, then I suggest you add your name to the writtenby-parameter, rather than the checkedby. That is merely how the system works; if walkthroughs are already present, they have, at some point, been deemed "not-good-enough" and the OPRP tag re-added. When going through the "unwritten" pages, some other editor will have to take responsibility that the walkthroughs are up to date and add themselves as writers. Then some other editor will check them later. --Krusty 15:01, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
