MW Images[edit]

Rpeh, first of all, great push on the BM images yesterday! I amended the needsImages tags in MW to better describe what kind of images are needed for the quests. Except for the stronghold quests, these should not be dependent on quest stages. Also, when you feel like taking a stroll through Vvardenfell, we could use some beauty shots of ash storms, guards/npcs in ash storms, conditions in Red Mountain, and overall anything that can add to the bigger pages like regions. I know, I am soo demanding... XD I started tackling Tribunal pages. --Cheers, BenouldTC 02:24, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

I'll see what I can do. –RpehTCE 02:32, 1 May 2008 (EDT)
Just an update, whenever you got the time: I just modified a few BM skinny images to help out. Now that the region pages are next, we could use some "typical' shots of the regions, i.e. swamps in the Bitter Coast, roaming Deadra in the Grazelands etc. Also, :Image:Theblight.JPG and :Image:Bthanchend.JPG are used on some prestigious pages, well the Blight is XD. Regarding the missing stronghold NPC images, just wanted to let you know that they all spawn, for all manors, if you build your own stronghold. --BenouldTC 02:42, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
My stronghold just entered the first phase of its construction so I should have some NPC images soon! At the moment though I'm trying to concentrate more on text content than images. I want to look at doing containers properly so we can get the verification tags off the Bloodmoon articles and expand the MW ones. That's quite a big job though. –RpehTCE 02:48, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
Allright, the strongholds are so cool! Which faction are you playing? I put a note to KJR1012's page, maybe he is up for more photography XD Regarding verification tags, I might just have to pick up a cheap copy of MW for the PC, just for the CS. --BenouldTC 02:58, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
House Hlaalu. It's my first time through the game and that seemed like the easiest. As far as buying the game is concerned, I got the GotY edition from an Amazon seller for £10 so it's not going to break any budgets! –RpehTCE 03:08, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
It's just occurred to me that I have screenshots of all of the Great House strongholds in my Photobucket album. I'll upload them here. Associated NPCs are out of reach for me right now, since my current character hasn't even joined a House yet.– KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 07:00, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
Check the pages for Morrowind:Rethan Manor and Morrowind:Indarys Manor.– KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 07:25, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the reply to my email, it really cheered me up when i thought my day couldnt get any worse, always nice to know theres other people who i can confide in when i need to. --Volanaro 08:54, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

Template question.[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

I always seem to ask you when I need help with templates.... Anyway. It's a pretty simple question: If theres a chunk of coding that repeats itself a lot, and I can't be bothered to copy and paste, does the code still work through a transclusion? Thanks. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:23, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Not quite sure what you mean. A template simply takes some parameters and returns a string of text. If you put several copies of a template in another template, then yes - it'll repeat. The TransposePronouns template I wrote is a quick an easy example: it calls TransposeWord three times. I'm sorry... but I don't think that's the answer you're looking for. Can you give me an example? –RpehTCE 11:46, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Say I want to repeat the statement: I need that text in the template 50 times. Can I simply make a page called Template:TemplatesName/Command whose only content is that one command, and then type 50 times into the bigger template. That might not have been very clear, but I hope you get the idea. Of course in the template I'm trying to build, the code that needs to be repeated is a lot longer, otherwise I wouldn't bother of course. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:52, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Yes you can. Be careful of going overboard with that though; if you have templates that call templates that call... you can quickly exceed the capacity of the wiki software to expand them. See this discussion for more information. Before you start doing something like that, take some time to consider if you really need to do it. –RpehTCE 12:00, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
My idea would probably count as going overboard. It only needs to call one load of code, which in turn doens't call any others, but the code is probably going to be over 5000 characters long, and will be copied into the main template around 15 times. Is that a bit too much? - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:04, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Probably. That's 75K of template before anything else gets added to the page! What is it you're trying to do? –RpehTCE 12:14, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
This - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

(outdent) Hmm... I think you've missed the point of the Template:Babel template, which is to allow grouping of ANY userboxes - not just a particular set. Having said that, if it's only going to be used on user pages, I suppose size isn't that much of a problem. –RpehTCE 12:27, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Am I right?[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

I gave a reply to a question posted here but now i'm not certain if its right, could you double check for me since you seem to have a better knowledge of the construction set than me. --Volanaro 13:27, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

I have no idea. You should really check your facts before posting though. –RpehTCE 19:13, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Oh, my hastiness, I didn't have access to oblivion at the time i wrote it. --Volanaro 03:47, 3 May 2008 (EDT)
To be honest, I am pretty sure it was right, i just have been very unsure of myeslf recently so thought id better double check with someone else, and ive come to trust your judgement more than most people on this site. --Volanaro 13:08, 3 May 2008 (EDT)

Lathon[edit]

i've got all the artifacts, for the priory of the nine quest on the knights of the nine plug in, and lathon is meant to talk to me to recieve the greaves. howerever he hasn't showed up, and as i'm on the xbox i don't know wat to do , can you help me? thanks in advance (i posted this on the quest page, but can't seem to get an answer, so i thought you mite help) --Manurulz1548 17:32, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

I'm afraid I play on the PC and have never had this problem. You'll just have to wait until an Xbox user can help. Sorry! –RpehTCE 17:36, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
No worrys, thanks anyway --Manurulz1548 17:42, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Fins[edit]

Hello, I'm to lazy to write this out again, so could you take a look at this? - Game LordTalk|Contribs 08:42, 3 May 2008 (EDT)

Race Userboxes[edit]

Should there be race userboxes, I have examples on UESPWiki Talk:Userboxes I don't want to do so much work & have it reverted, especially since I'm gonna make ones for the misc races too.-Puddle 18:09, 3 May 2008 (EDT)

If you want to create them feel free, but I'm not sure what utility they have. Userboxes should be for giving the site some information about oneself and those don't really do that. –RpehTCE 02:33, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

MW Wanted pages[edit]

Rpeh, I was looking at Special:Wantedpages. Two stood out, Morrowind-Daedric Ruins (31 instances) and Morrowind-Tombs (95 instances). Morrowind-Places-Daedric Ruins exists, do we resolve this with a redirect, or how? Thanks for your help, --BenouldTC 02:52, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

Hmm. Looks like this change caused that and I hadn't noticed. Don't use a redirect. The existing page is a category rather than a list page. Something more like this is wanted here, I think. –RpehTCE 03:01, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
You're right, something to do during a ballgame, maybe. I'll create them and put it on the MW Redesign to-do list. BTW, have you seen the new Morrowind:Balmora page yet? XD --BenouldTC 03:15, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
It's nice. But you're going to have to re-add the people list. Some pages (like this) linked to it for the non-relevant NPCs. Try clicking on Heddvild and you'll see what I mean. –RpehTCE 03:24, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
Actually, the fix for the redlinks isn't so difficult. The previous breadcrumb trails (Template:Morrowind Daedric Ruins Trail and Template:Morrowind Tombs Trail) just pointed to existing pages: Morrowind:Daedric Shrines and Morrowind:Ancestral Tombs, respectively. So I changed the previous redlinks into redirects to those pages. Now the new bread crumb trails work the same way as the previous ones. --NepheleTalk 03:34, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
Ah. Thanks Neph. –RpehTCE 03:40, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

(outdent} Thanks Nephele, for fixing that. Regarding Balmora, the People table is what made the load time clunky. I'd rather fix the re-directs to Morrowind:People in Balmora, by hand if it can't be done otherwise. Is there a way to see which NPCs are affected? --BenouldTC 03:58, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

Look at Whatlinkshere and further down you'll see a load of redirect pages. –RpehTCE 04:01, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
All relevant people have their own page. Chances are, all redirects are from one table to another table, in which case we could just combine the two people pages. Or decide which table to keep. The city page is less then useful with that huge table on it, let's see what the peer review brings, and fix it then. --BenouldTC 04:09, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

Question[edit]

Hello, I should probably ask Daveh for this, but he's probably busy. Do you know what the colorvalue is for the site's standard background on all articles? If not then, it's not that big an issue. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:24, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

Ah, sorry, wrong question. The value I need is that of the background color of the standard cells in a wikitable. Sorry about that. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:28, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
Frankly, it would also help if you could tell us both colours. --HMSVictoryTalk 11:30, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
This seems to be turning into a bombardment... Do you know the command in a table that causes the gap between cells to vanish, and the gap between the outer cells, and the table wall to vanish. I thought it was cellspacing or cellpadding, but neither seem to work... - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:34, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
All of the customized CSS used on the site can be seen at Mediawiki:Common.css and Mediawiki:Monobook.css, including all of the color specifications. Depending upon what you're trying to do, though, often just saying "background: transparent" is the best way to make sure the colors match. As for spacing in tables, cellspacing and cellpadding are the old-format HTML commands and will be overridden by any CSS styles used in the table. It's hard to say exactly what CSS you're looking for without knowing the exact situation, however: extra space within cells is generally determined by the padding command; extra space outside the table is generally set by the table's margins. Sometimes the style needs to be specified at the table level, sometimes at the cell level. --NepheleTalk 14:14, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

LE[edit]

I should probably be able to work this out myself, but I've tried, and can't. Can you see what's not working with the LEs in my userpage? The Faction and Userboxes links work fine, but the The Various "Me"s doesn't and neither do any of the other "Me"s. Is it something to do with the speech marks? - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:17, 5 May 2008 (EDT)

Yeah quotation marks don't play well with URLs. There's probably a way to fix it but I don't know. –RpehTCE 15:27, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
I can think of a way that might work. You know those commands like   which gives a blank, and which gives ►. Doubtless there are commands for "", but I have no idea where I can find a list, do you know of one? - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:37, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
It's " but that doesn't work either. –RpehTCE 15:43, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
Err, yes, it does. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:47, 5 May 2008 (EDT)

General:The Angry Dunmer Vampire[edit]

Why is is PROD'd? It is a fanfic, NOT nonsense. Dagoth Ur, Mad God (talk· contribs· email)

It's 200 words of nonsense. There's no story, it's littered with spelling mistakes (audeince, Hemophillia etc) and it's dragging the quality of the site down. Also, please don't remove the prod notice unless you improve the article. –RpehTCE 06:49, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

Go ahead, delete it. I will try to make a better fanfic. Dagoth Ur, Mad God T C E 06:58, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

While we're on the subject, could you also delete One Final Effort? I am very unlikely to ever complete it, and I see no reason to keep it on the site. I'll take care of the link on the main fanfiction page. Thanks! --HMSVictoryTalk 11:53, 6 May 2008 (EDT)
Done and done. –RpehTCE 12:01, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

A Quick Question....[edit]

I was looking at my watchlist, and I noticed something like this: 16:58....(+ 4,994) I realize the 16:45 part is where the time goes, but what is that number in parentheses? I've been wondering about it for some time now. Figgy 20:17, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

I'm not sure about how it's measured, but I'm pretty sure it indicates how much the page has increased or decreased in size. --GuildKnightTalk2me 20:57, 6 May 2008 (EDT)
Alright, that makes sense. Thanks. Figgy 21:02, 6 May 2008 (EDT)
Yup. It's the number of characters added to, or removed from the page. –RpehTCE 00:48, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

Tamriel/Daggerfall Geograpy[edit]

Right, I see the Daggerfall-specific tid-bits should be moved out of the Tamriel-general articles. I'll follow suit. --Uniblab 01:14, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

You beat me to it - I was just about to post on your talk page. Yes, the Tamriel namespace should be largely game-info free. The idea now is to make the Tamriel space an area for an in-game perspective, adding sections for the games only when it's necessary. See the Fighters Guild article for an example.
On a related subject, do all these areas really require articles in the Tamriel space at all? Most of them seem to be stubs and, since I've never seem them mentioned elsewhere, it's doubtful that they'll become more than that any time soon. It might be best off leaving them in DF-space for now and we can move and transclude at a later date if required.
In any case, it's good to see some new Daggerfall content! –RpehTCE 01:26, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
Each province and her provincial seat should have their own article. Since there are several thousand dungeons, covens, and settlements in the game I don't think every place will get an article; I'm certainly not going to write that much. --Uniblab 01:33, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
Their own article, sure. But does it need to go in Tamriel AND Daggerfall? It's not a problem but it's generally not a good idea to create stub articles that have no chance of expansion. –RpehTCE 01:36, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
These places are part of Tamriel, and The Hero of Arena also adventured in the Iliac Bay region, so perhaps by including a stub or two in the Tamriel are some enterprising Arena player will be motivated to jot down an article or two. --Uniblab 01:46, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
I must prepare for work now. Thanks again for pointing out the better way of doing things. --Uniblab 03:15, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
Yes, all the places are located within Tamriel. But that's true of all the games: Oblivion:Harlun's Watch and Oblivion:Blankenmarch are in Tamriel, for example, but don't have Tamriel articles. Somewhere deep in the archives of the site are a few discussions which led to that decision. And, yes, at some point we need to write up some clear guidelines for what belongs in Tamriel to help editors sort it out. But one simplistic guideline is that if you never hear of the place/person/whatever outside of a single game, then it probably doesn't belong in Tamriel. In other words, if it only appears once, is not mentioned in any books, and has no historic relevance, then why have a second permastub article in the Tamriel namespace, on top of the game-specific article?
From what I can tell, a lot of these places are only of interest to a person playing Daggerfall. Arena also covered the Iliac Bay region, but I don't think all of these places appeared in Arena (for that matter, Arena covered Cyrodiil, too, but I doubt all the Oblivion places appeared in Arena). From what I can tell, the places that appeared anywhere near the Iliac Bay in Arena are:
 • In Hammerfell (based on TIL's Arena map): Hegathe, Dragon Grove, Sunkeep, Chasetown, Sentinel, Lainlyn, Vulnim Gate, Thorstad Place, Verkarth City, Skaven.
 • In High Rock (again, based on TIL): Daggerfall, Reich Gradkeep, Glenpoint, Ilessan Hills, Ebon Wastes, Carnlorn, Moonguard, Kings Guard, Eagle Brook, Meir Darguard, Meir Thorvale, Wayrest, Vermeir Wastes, Norvulk Hills.
The ones in bold are those that (as far as I know) also appeared in Daggerfall: six in all. Not to say that only those six places from Daggerfall should have Tamriel entries -- several other places are of wider interest (e.g., Orsinium) -- but only those six qualify based on appearances in other games.
One other thing... when naming articles, the article name should exactly match the place's name. In cases where that's not possible (because two places, e.g. a province and a city, have the same name), the extra text should be added in parentheses to make it clear that's it been added for disambiguation, and that's it not actually part of the place's name. So "Shalgora (city)" instead of "Shalgora City".
None of these are major issues. It's just that it's easier to sort them out now while you're actively working on the pages, instead of having to guess at things a few months from now. --NepheleTalk 19:38, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
No troubles then. Since I lost my Arena CD years ago I'ven't been able verify which locations appear in which and where, but since you've been kind enough to provide some data then I'll act on your suggestion, and only add the above bold entries as a Tamriel stub and the remainder as Daggerfall stubs. This makes good sense. Selah! --Uniblab 19:49, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

Benny220[edit]

As you may have notied, Benny220 has recently received a warning for his use of the site as a forum and his intrusive questions, however as far as i know he hasn't actually violated any wiki policies, could you tell me if i've missed something? I would say he's made personal attacks but im not certain if they count. --Volanaro 07:00, 8 May 2008 (EDT)

As the Blocking Policy states, "Blocking is only considered to be an appropriate measure when a user or anonymous IP address has repeatedly made contributions that are clearly disruptive to the site or to other contributors to the site." The examples that Timenn gave in Benny220's warning notice are clearly disruptive and so fall under the policy's scope. I'd probably have issued a warning myself had Timenn not acted when he did.
Whatever else we do, the goal of the administrators and patrollers is to keep the site running as smoothly as possible. If a user is disrupting the activities of others then they can be blocked even if there's no clear policy violation. Examples here and here. –RpehTCE 08:05, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I was thinking about giving him a warning myself actually, but like i said, i wasnt sure if he was actually doing anything wrong. Also, I overheard them talking about planning to muck up the site on the last day of term (one last stab at me i guess) I think thats what that new wrekonize account is for as well, just thought you should know. I dont know wether they were joking but i do know they have very little to contribute to the wiki.--Volanaro 08:11, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
For warnings that aren't clear cut, I'd suggest leaving it to an admin or patroller. You can always contact one of us through email if you feel you have been victimized or bullied on the site. Would you mind tell me the date of the last day of your school term? Forewarned is forearmed. –RpehTCE 08:17, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
At the moment im not sure of the last day of term, I'll ask one of my teachers when i get back to shcool though, I'm currently off ill because of what i told you about in that email (my psychiatrist reckons its severe enough for me to have time off) but that will be one of the first things i ask when i get back --Volanaro 08:48, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
What I do know is that we have ICT at the following times each week

Monday:10:05-10:55

Tuesday:9:15-12:05

Thursday::9:15-10:55

so if our last day of term isnt on one of these days it will likely be one of these days that they attack. --Volanaro 08:54, 8 May 2008 (EDT)

By the way, If you look at the block log for mass effect pwns oblivion it was only blocked for a week, surely his username is grounds for an indefinite block, as it is an unnaceptable username? also this is one of the accounts he will likely use if he attacks the site again. --Volanaro 06:08, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
Just so you know, we are now only going into school for exams, so most likely we will not see much of these idiots and they will lose interest in the site hopefully --Volanaro 01:14, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

User Boxes[edit]

Hey Rpeh! I need some help with my user page. I'm trying to get it to look organized somewhat like yours. I can't figure out how to put all of the userboxes on one side of my page. Any help would be much appreciated.--Imperial Scum 23:52, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

Try copying what is on either mine or rpeh's page and then remove/replace as you want to. Then when you are happy paste it on your User Page. Whatever you do, do not make any changes to another user's userpage. — Unsigned comment by Matthewest (talkcontribs)

Alright, thanks.Imperial Scum 14:07, 10 May 2008 (EDT)

Debaser Roots[edit]

Thought you guys would like to find out who on the development team is a fan of the band, "The Pixies". Seems someone on Oblivion must have been a fan since "Debaser" is one of their best songs from their "Doolittle" album. Hope to see it on the page. I'm not sure how to add it, new to the whole wiki thang & I am a complete code moron. Kudos for all your hard work here.68.98.34.191 05:35, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

I don't think there's a link to be honest. If we classified every occurrence of a word with significance elsewhere as an easter egg, we'd do nothing else. You may as well say that the track "Monkey Gone to Heaven" is a reference to Wrye ;) Thanks for the kind words though. –RpehTCE 00:54, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Small request[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

What I'm requesting is possibly the most trivial thing I can think of, but it's the kind of thing that drives me mad. Sorry...

The default text for MediaWiki:badaccess-group2 and MediaWiki:badaccess-groups is:

"The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups $1."

Couldn't that be phrased better as:

"The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the following groups: $1."

Like I said, it probably won't be noticed by anyone, but it's still driving me mad, as I'm one of those people who like everything to be perfect. Thanks, - Game LordTalk|Contribs 09:23, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Done. –RpehTCE 01:45, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Help for a new person?[edit]

Hi Rpeh, im moleman122, and extremely new to UESP. I want to know, can you help me find one the Ref and BaseIDs for ANY of the knights of order? I want to make a huge war and the knights of order aren't graphically taxing when combined into armies.

If you get this, i would appreciate help. The Moleman

Well one of them is: BaseId - 00078c31; RefId - 00094935. Hope that helps. –RpehTCE 00:48, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Image[edit]

I was looking around for more things to do here, and I thought of something. Is there a page with links to articles that need pictures? Figgy 21:15, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Yup. Try this. –RpehTCE 00:49, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Lore:Summerset Isle[edit]

OK, so I just added a lot of content to this page, but did I do it right? What did I do wrong? / What should I improve on? Since you revamped the Lore:Black Marsh page, I figured it best to ask you.-Puddle 21:28, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

The only thing I found that could be improved would be adding more information to the 'Notable Places'. Other than that it looks great! Figgy 21:36, 11 May 2008 (EDT)
I haven't revamped Black Marsh yet... but thanks anyway! It looked good but I just made a few tweaks. It was a touch heavy on headlines and also looked odd when transcluded into Lore:Places S. I also changed it to use the Cite extension for references. Don't let that discourage you though - it was fine! –RpehTCE 01:41, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Hehe thanks! Unfortunately, there is no current information on the Isles except the recent dialogue, too bad, it seems like a great place! I wish I could find more info on it...-Puddle 17:59, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Castle Help[edit]

I would just like to thank you for the glorious help you have been giving me on my Castle pages. Without you and other editors help, the pages wouldn't look very good. Thankyou, and I hope that what I have done is helpful for the wiki. If there is anything that I need to improve on, please tell me. You may want to format the image on Castle Skingrad correctly. I am going to hop off for the night. --Matthewest TCE 06:40, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Hope you dont mind[edit]

I hope you dont mind me helping myself to a little feature on your page,, It was only after id added it that i thought to ask. It sure makes me feel smrater having an automated section on my page though! --Volanaro 08:48, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Help yourself! Anybody is welcome to use it if they like. –RpehTCE 08:50, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Glad to hear it, I just wasnt certain after the incident HMSVictory and that Halo3 Userbox a while ago. (Which by the way I do not own since i hate microsoft!) As far as i could tell he was saying no-one else was allowed to use it without his permission, from what i knew the licensing of wiki information is public so anyone can, but like i said im not very sure of myself what with my current problems. --Volanaro 08:54, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Oh my god! I cant beleive i went and created those zealot links in the wrong namespace!, i am kicking myself as i write this! --Volanaro 05:02, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
Err... it wasn't you. That was me. I've already kicked myself several times.... –RpehTCE 05:08, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
oops! could have sworn it was me, looking at recent changes i see that it was you after all! --Volanaro 05:10, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Apologies[edit]

I have already said this to Nephele, but I feel the situation affects you as well. I just want to make it clear. You must understand that I try to contribute constructively to the site, but my condition and my battling emotions cause me to fail every time. I am not passing on the blame, as it is entirely my fault. Although I am not leaving the site at this point, I will do my utmost to refrain from interfering with other editors, acting like I own the site, making personal attacks, making up ficticious site policies, being territorial over pages, showing extreme prejudice to anonymous edits and simply being an idiot overall. I can't keep apologising for every time something like this happens, so I'm going to approach the site from a different angle. SORRY. --HMSVictoryTalk 14:41, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Articles i.e. Todd Howard Interview[edit]

Rpeh, good spot there, I wasn't even thinking beyond spelling there oO. What is the site policy on excerpts from articles? In American Fair Use, you can quote a paragraph, followed by a link to the source. Is this something we even want to do? It seems to have general interest as an article archive, but could get out of hand. Looking for some input... --BenouldTC 13:37, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

It wasn't a spot; the poster contacted me in IRC. Fair use is obviously okay - and it's Canadian law given the location of the server. Quoting an entire interview with no credit or link or permission does NOT qualify. The full debate would need to be a Community Portal discussion but my 2p is that we don't want puff pieces for magazines, so no single paragraphs, and we don't want to have to pay for any content that isn't critical (although that's obviously Daveh's decision). As a general rule: If in doubt, don't post. –RpehTCE 13:45, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
Sorry about that. Anyway, I have sent an e-mail to Imagine Publishing, the parent company of 360 Magazine, asking them if this use of the interview is acceptable. For now, I will cite them as the original owners and publishers of the content at the top of the page. --HMSVictoryTalk 13:59, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

What?[edit]

Which 'copyright message?' I created that Userbox AND the atheist one, although I can understand why that one deserves a place on the page. --HMSVictoryTalk 12:22, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

"You agree to license your contributions..." –RpehTCE 12:26, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

New Game[edit]

I heard about a new Elder Scrolls game coming out soon. Is this true? If so do you know when it will be released?--Imperial Scum 23:51, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

There will be one at some point but I wouldn't expect anything for at least another couple of years. See this page for current speculation. –RpehTCE 01:59, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

That's a bummer. Hopefully I'll still be into these games by then. Thanks.--Imperial Scum 19:35, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

Bloodmoon[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

After seeing the page Mournhold_texture_test, I wondered whether we should also add a page for the cell "Bloodmoon" added by, believe it or not, the Bloodmoon expansion. Although I wasn't sure why that cell was added. If you've never been there, then all it is is a big dragon statue, err thing. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 07:59, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

Yeah... I suppose so. I'm hesitant because if it's as small as the Mournhold one it's very nearly a deletion candidate. I only didn't prod it because we do get asked about test cells from time to time. –RpehTCE 11:17, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

Advice sought[edit]

Hi Rpeh, you may recall a while ago I said I knew A little bit about C++ and C programming languages, welll since that knowledge is very basic I am thinking of starting to take it a bit more seriously, however I notice you are knowledgable about C#, I have a strict "No Microsoft" policy, but I have been thinking about focusing on one of these languages, and I was wondering how easy c~ is to lear? Any tips would be greatly apreciated. --Volanaro 11:43, 20 May 2008 (EDT)

I'll email you later - it's not really appropriate for the site. –RpehTCE 13:19, 20 May 2008 (EDT)
C# is not "Microsoft", it is ECMA. Since a single counter-example is all that is necessary, consider Mono. --Uniblab 18:30, 20 May 2008 (EDT)
Sorry, I was under the Impression that C# was developed by microsoft for some reason, if you'd prefer to email me then thats fine, I was abit uncertain aboutwethr to post this message here or email you, after all, this isnt a forum as i have said many times! --Volanaro 06:23, 21 May 2008 (EDT)

K, it doesnt seem like worth starting a new section for this so I'll just come out wit it, can i restore my name on the mentor program? I was having a really bad day yesterday and was considering myself rubbish at everything, I'm feeling much better now and if its ok I would like to salvage what little reputation i have left. --Volanaro 07:50, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

You meet the requirements so feel free. I was a little surprised to see you take your name off but I thought it would be something like this... Anyway. You're welcome to rejoin. –RpehTCE 07:52, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Thanks, yesterday the problems i told you about were really flaring up badly and i was actually thinking about leavng uesp for no aparent reason, thanks again. --Volanaro 07:55, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

K, I'm not sure what to look for in it so could you tell me if you othink this is the latest reincranation of the plus sign vandal? --Volanaro 06:17, 24 May 2008 (EDT)

No way. That looks intentional to me. Misguided, maybe, but intentional. I don't think it's the plus-sign vandal at all. I wouldn't even call it vandalism. Unfortunately, the # numbering has a slight problem when viewed in IE - the numbers are partially hidden by the image. The problem however, lies in the CSS, and that's what should be fixed. Beyond me though. --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:03, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
I'd agree with Lurlock. Somebody is trying to improve the page - it's certainly not vandalism. Unfortunately they didn't quite realise what they were doing. –RpehTCE 09:06, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
K thanks for clearing that up, i havent actually seen much of what the plus sign vandal does so i dont really know what to look for int it, aprat from deletion of plus signs --Volanaro 09:48, 24 May 2008 (EDT)

Just checking, did you get the reply i sent to your last email? I'm awlays a bit uncertain when i dont hear back from someone. Its a side effect of the problem i have (and you may have noticed i pust a new userbox on my page stating it) --Volanaro 06:52, 2 June 2008 (EDT)

I did indeed. Sorry - I hadn't got around to replying yet. –RpehTCE 06:57, 2 June 2008 (EDT)

Daric Bielle, relevant NPC?[edit]

Rpeh, do we need a NPC page for this guy? Morrowind:Daric Bielle is the quest giver for Morrowind:The Drunken Bounty Hunter. --BenouldTC 13:08, 20 May 2008 (EDT)

Yeah. According to the criteria, he's relevant if "The NPC is related to a quest" so go for it. –RpehTCE 13:18, 20 May 2008 (EDT)

Bloodmoon/Morrowind Inscription Images[edit]

Okay, I thought I knew what I did, but I've been trying for hours, and I can't figure out how I did those images. I've tried a hundred times, but it comes out looking exactly like yours... Lurlock helped me figure out how to do it, so he might remember what I did. I'll leave a message for him. --GuildKnightTalk2me 22:47, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

Daggerfall:Hints[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

Daggerfall:Hints seems to be showing up in Special:Allpages (Main). I'm guessing that this is because the NAMESPACE "Daggerfall" didn't exist when the page was created. My idea of how to fix this, is copy the content of Daggerfall onto a temporary page, or MSWord, or something similar, delete Daggerfall:Hints, then recreate the page. I thought I'd ask you first though, for your opinion of the success of this theory. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:52, 27 May 2008 (EDT)

That page is a known problem. It also shows up on Special:Deadendpages but that's probably because several of the Special pages are broken. See this thread on Daveh's talk page. I doubt deleting the page will work, but I suppose it might be worth a try. –RpehTCE 11:55, 27 May 2008 (EDT)
If you want to, I've got it all stored on MSWord. The I think it's still in the MAINSPACE is this: Open :Talk:Daggerfall:Hints, and you can click on the "article" tab, to be taken to Daggerfall:Hints. Wheras go to :Talk:Oblivion:Oblivion, and the "article" tab is red. This is the same for all other pages that are definately inside the correct NAMESPACE. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:00, 27 May 2008 (EDT)
Actually, you're not the first person to think this. You won't be able to see the deletion log, but take a look at this:
 • 02:05, 21 September 2006 Aristeo (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Daggerfall:Hints" (trying to fix the page)
 • 00:08, 20 September 2006 Nephele (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Daggerfall:Hints" (speedy delete: cleaning up page appearing in wrong namespace)
 • 03:50, 21 April 2006 Garrett (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Daggerfall:Hints" (cleansing namespace glitch (I hope))
I'm not going to try again. It seems to be a deeper problem with the site. –RpehTCE 12:07, 27 May 2008 (EDT)
You could also try checking the article's talk page where I've already posted a link to a mediawiki article explaining the problem and what needs to be done to fix it. --NepheleTalk 23:30, 27 May 2008 (EDT)

all those members that joined an hour ago[edit]

all those members that you welcomed an earlier on. It must be some coincidnence if all those members joined within 2 minutes. just to let you know. might want to keep an eye out.:)one person only needs one account, they could be back ups. good day

They didn't all join at once - that was just when I got around to welcoming the ones that hadn't already been welcomed. And I know that some people keep lots of accounts in reserve in case they need one that isn't blocked. I've seen people do it before. But thank you for the tip. –RpehTCE 15:31, 27 May 2008 (EDT)

Outdated tech[edit]

Hey, I just had a question: what's with the "Outdated tech" note on the main page? Does that mean that more effort will be going to Tes4View rather than fleshing out the information in these pages? Just wondering... — Unsigned comment by Sythe (talkcontribs)

I'm afraid I know nothing on the subject of modding. You might try asking Wrye instead - he's our resident modding expert! –RpehTCE 03:51, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Oblivion:Pilgrimage runes[edit]

You've just added the untranslated runes to the page, but they are already mentioned in one of the notes. I was going to undo your change, but then I noticed that the prophet's translation of the runes is also mentioned twice (once in the text, once in the notes). I'm not sure what the best solution is, or whether we should really be bothered about this kind of duplication of information. Having the information in a note seems cleaner, but then that leaves the text just mentioning 'some runes'. What do you think? --Gaebrial 06:00, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Darn! I missed the note. Now fixed. –RpehTCE 06:10, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

The Imperial Simulacrum[edit]

Should there be a page for the Imperial Simulacrum? If not, where should it be redirected, because it sounds like something that could be searched a lot. by the way, I know it is the plot of Arena, but still. Thanks!-Puddle 06:45, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Redirect to Lore:Jagar Tharn seems the best bet. –RpehTCE 06:57, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Natharr and 74.87.102.107[edit]

Hey there, I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss this but I figured the best place i knew of was a admin's talk. Anyway, looking over the Recent Changes, I saw some stuff going on. User 74.87.102.107 seemed to be vandalizing some Roleplaying ideas such as the Sith Lord page (If you check the page's history you'll know what I mean). Natharr seemed to have vandalized a page or two, but reverted them, but they did create roleplaying pages I thought were inappropriate so I proposed them for deletion. I'm not sure if Natharr is truly being a vandal or they just don't know better, but I figured someone should say something to him. Thanks! Figgy 22:00, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

I also noticed this. A flurry of useless (and some possibly offensive) edits looks like vandalism, but maybe someone higher-up could try to contact him in case he's just misguided. PsyWarrior 22:08, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
Seem to be unrelated, Natharr's IP resolved to New Jersey, and the other is Wisconsin. Anyhow, I deleted the more offensive of the pages (and removed the link to one of them on the Roleplaying page). Looks like the other edits have already been reverted already and warnings have been issued, so there's not much else to do unless they continue misbehaving. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:18, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Pardon me for intruding but...[edit]

Hi Rpeh, normally i would stand by your decision to isue a warning but I feel that in this case it just doesnt seem right to me. I personally feel that this could have been an innocent mistake, and a notice would have been more approriate, I don't like to dispute with you as I know you are the more experienced with wiki procedures but I just think maybe you should reconsider this in compliance with the Assume Good Faith policy. --Volanaro 03:37, 31 May 2008 (EDT)

I (obviously!) disagree. It's a clearly-wrong edit with no edit summary from an anonymous IP. I can't see any way those edits could have been made in good faith; even if you have confused Anvil with Chorrol (where the house does cost 20,000), you pay in completely different ways. I must admit that I thought for a while before putting that warning on but decided it was for the best in the end. –RpehTCE 03:52, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
Ok, I'll accept what you said, I can see your reasons for issuing the warning but recently i personally have tried to avoid issuing warnings, but as i said you are the more experienced out of the 2 of us so you (obviously!) know better than i do. --Volanaro 03:56, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
