Number of Saves[edit]

On my Oblivion game at my PC I have about 1700 saves. However here is stated that on the PC you can not have more than 1000 saves. I do not overwrite my saves. I am not using any mods. Does anybody know what happened? --Rigas Papadopoulos 14:30, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Where does it say that, please? rpeh •TCE 11:55, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

I do not remember where it says it but I remember that it says that you can have up to 1000 saves at PC and Xbox and up to 128 at Playstation.

Right here is where it says that, but I don't know about the number of saves on the xbox. -- Jplatinum16 17:29, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I couldn't find it. I've deleted the note because I've got over 1500, which makes two counterexamples at least. rpeh •TCE 17:38, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
On both the Xbox and the PS3 it is possible to have over 2000 saves even, but doing so slow's down your consoles speed considerably. Me, I've formated a hard drive and hooked it up to my PS3 so its not a problem. MikeTalk 10:43, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Arrow duplication.[edit]

At my Oblivion game on the PC the arrow duplication trick does not work. All the steps are done correctly. Does anybody now what may happened?--Rigas Papadopoulos 11:54, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

That bug was fixed in the Version 1.2.0214 patch. rpeh •TCE 12:27, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I do not have that patch. Any other ideas? --Rigas Papadopoulos 12:56, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

You have that patch if you're playing the GotY edition, and probably if you bought the game recently too. Look at the version number in the bottom left corner of the main menu screen. rpeh •TCE 14:10, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I do not play the GotY edition. I bought Oblivion at February. Is February recently enough? --Rigas Papadopoulos 13:42, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

As I said, check the version number. rpeh •TCE 13:46, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

You are right, and I suppose that is the reason I could not install the 1.2.0214 patch. Thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:36, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

If I might suggest, I believe the scroll duplication glitch still works for the Xbox, I know for a fact with latest updates it works for the PS3. MikeTalk 10:45, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the information but I play on the PC so this does not make any difference. --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:47, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

In that case, just use the console to spawn an item. There is a certain code you want to use though, so you don't use the original. You may want to ask someone that uses the PC more. I only us PC when I'm at a friends house. We also have a long list of codes that should help, ill see about finding it for you. MikeTalk 05:12, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
It depends what exactly you want to do, but the usual way is to use player.additem nnnnnnnn q where nnnnnnnn is the item's ID (listed on most item pages), and q is the number you want to create. This will add the appropriate item(s) to your inventory. From there, you can do whatever you like with them. (PS, see here and here if you're not sure how to use the console.) Robin Hoodtalk 05:31, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

I've downloaded the entire Console Command Tutorial. Even before that I knew many console commands. I use the "player.additem" console command for simple items like lockpicks, repair hammers and gold. --Rigas Papadopoulos 18:21, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Welcome![edit]

Hello! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! Robin Hoodtalk 17:32, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

It is a bit late for that, but still it is useful. --Rigas Papadopoulos 07:12, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Arena Bug[edit]

I have a weird bug at my Oblivion on the PC. Sometimes, when I win in a battle and go to Owyn to get my reward, when I get my reward the music changes to battle and I can not sleep or wait while in the Bloodworks. However when I exit the Bloodworks everything is back to normal. I used Detect Life to find the cause but everyone in the room; Yellow Team Champion, Blue Team Gladiator, Agronak gro-Malog, Owyn, Ysabel Andronicus, and Porkchop are friendly. Does anybody know what may happened? --Rigas Papadopoulos 14:05, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

You best bet would be to ask in our forums. Robin Hoodtalk 23:53, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
It happens from time to time, easiest fix is just reload the cell (go out and reenter is easiest way).

Console Commands Bug[edit]

The console commands "showbirthsingmenu" and "showracemenu" do not work at my Oblivion game on the PC. Any ideas of what might happened? --Rigas Papadopoulos 17:09, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

A change occured, after I installed the Construction Set the "showracemenu" strangely works. The "showbirthsingmenu" still does not work. --Rigas Papadopoulos 09:56, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

If you are typing it just like that into the console, "showbirthsingmenu", it may be a spelling error. Try "showbirthsignmenu" instead. --Darkle ~ Talk 06:14, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

It is now fixed, thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos 19:40, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Show Preview *does* exist![edit]

Could you please use the "Show Preview" button on the bottom left of the editing box before launching yourself in a myriad of tiny, utterly insignificant edits to your userpage? --SerCenKing Talk 17:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I did not understand what you meant but after I took a look at my User Page I understood what you where talking about. I do not know what happened but I fixed it. Perhaps it is vandalism. I hope it will not happen again. --Rigas Papadopoulos 15:58, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
You're doing it again! STOP making a LOT of edits to your page! Instead of clicking "SAVE PAGE" in the bottom left of the editing box click "SHOW PREVIEW" - you will be able to see your changes without making an edit. At the moment you are filling up Recent Changes with A LOT of edits, which is very annoying since I have to patrol them. Please use SHOW PREVIEW. --SerCenKing Talk 18:03, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Useful page about Show Preview can be found here. --Krusty 18:10, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm getting tired of saying the same thing over and over and over again. Could you use "Show Preview" please? Click on the link (Help:Show_Preview) and read the page carefully. At the moment you are continuing to make tens of edits to your userpage which you could do in one single edit. --SerCenKing Talk 16:52, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
I DO use show preview. I can not understand what you mean. --Rigas Papadopoulos 16:57, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Obviously you don't, otherwise you wouldn't be making all these small pointless edits to your user page. Again, since reading the Help page linked seems beyond you, I'll explain it very simply. When you press "Save Changes" you make an edit and your edit then shows up here. Every edit you make needs to be patrolled, that means checked, by a Patroller, such as myself. It is very annoying when you see Recent Changes with a lot of small edits, where all the chnages that were made could have been done in ONE edit.
Your latest changes have been: removing a lot of white space, putting the white space back on, saying you've made a 100 edits, adding an "a", removing the "a" (!), telling us you live in a certain village, linking High Elf, linking Imperial City, removing something you'd added two edits before, linking Mage and adding game ratings.
My point is: ALL OF THESE EDITS COULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN ONE SINGLE EDIT. Capiche? Instead of pressing "Save Changes", make all the changes you want to do, use "Show Preview" to see what it looks like and THEN press save. At the moment, you are doing tens and tens of pointless edits which are doing nothing but annoying me over and over again. --SerCenKing Talk 17:22, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, now I understand what you mean. Since you are a Patroller it is annoying to have to check all those small edits when I could have done all my changes together. I will try not to let this happen again. Still, I will edit my user page so I can not stop editing. --Rigas Papadopoulos 17:28, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you :) I don't want you to stop editing your userpage or editing in general, just to try and keep the number of edits you make to the bare minimum. Much appreciated :) --SerCenKing Talk 17:58, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

We finally understand each other. I have a question; by becoming a Patroller you get any special rights? P.S. The a was for testing, to learn if it counts as an edit. --Rigas Papadopoulos 18:05, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Patrollers are not granted any specific rights, but are given the responsibility to check all the edits being made to the Wiki. This means they have to read through each and every edit to make sure everything is all right - and then mark the edit as checked. This is basically why they are bound to react when a user makes multiple edits to their own user page. --Krusty 18:27, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Krusty said it all, the only real "rights" we are given is that we can edit Semi-Protected pages, move images and can put Section-Protection tags around parts of an article. Though really, our job is to do with Recent Changes, and when you're dealing with that, it's more duties than rights :P --SerCenKing Talk 18:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Any auto-confirmed user can edit Semi-Protected pages, which I think Rigas even is now. :p --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 20:53, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the answers. True, I am an auto-confirmed user. Also I do NOT live in Kastanoussa but in Salonika. And one final thing; As I've already said to Matt, I read the help pages but I do not understand many things. --Rigas Papadopoulos 09:54, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

A friendly reminder[edit]

Your comment on Rpeh's user page should have been on His talk page instead. Unless granted permission by the user, you should not edit a users page. By the way, welcome to uesp, I hope you learn as much as I have about the world of The Elder Scrolls. MikeTalk 10:41, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

I did not know that. Thanks for telling me. What should I do now? --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:44, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
You should read this page a few more times. You are doing it again and it needs to stop now. Also, it is not necessary to update your position on the Active Users list every time you advance. You will advance a LOT in the beginning, and every time you update your status, a patroller will have to read through it. --Krusty 10:55, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, from now and on I will only update my active user status when I am about to disconnect. Also I know about Show Preview. And one question; How can someone become a Patroller? (I am not interested to become one) --Rigas Papadopoulos 11:00, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

In effect you nominate someone (including yourself). Then after one week provided there isn't still argument about the nominees qualifications, and say what the consensus is, Support, Oppose or Draw based on the number of votes for each.--TAOHuh? 13:38, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos 18:24, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Dremora[edit]

By using the Oblivion Construction Set, I made Dremora a playable Race. However if I am at the male Dremora screen(Race selection) and try to change to female the game crashes. However if I change to female at a normal Race(example Wood Elf) and then go to Dremora the games does not crash and the female Dremora works properly. Any ideas of what might happened? --Rigas Papadopoulos 15:28, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

I can't tell you what's causing it, but I can confirm that I get the same behaviour. The same thing also happens for Sheogorath (who can be Female, amusingly, provided you don't change the gender while you've got Sheogorath selected). I don't see anything off-hand that strikes me as terribly out-of-place, so it could be something unexpected like a missing texture or values being outside the normal boundaries that causes the behaviour, but only when you switch genders while on the appropriate race. For something like this, it's pretty much impossible to say for certain without having the source code in-hand where you can find out exactly where it's crashing.
Another approach you can try, which might narrow down the possibilities, is to create a new race and copy the values from Dremora over to the new race. First, see if that on its own will crash. If it does, copy a working race's data over to the new race, one page at a time. See if you can narrow down which page causes the problem (if any), and from there, follow the same procedure with each item on the page. That's a heck of a lot of testing and back-and-forth into the game and out, but if you're desperate to get it working, that should give you some insight into what's causing the problem. Robin Hoodtalk 01:31, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I will try it. --Rigas Papadopoulos 05:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
I tried it. I created a new Race by copying the Imperial Race. Then I changed everything at the copy to be the same as the Dremora. The game still crashes when I change to female at the Dremora copy screen. --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:42, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay, so now try copying values from a normal race over to the new race, one page at a time. From there, see if you can figure out which page the problem is on. Robin Hoodtalk 16:55, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Editing Tip[edit]

Try using {{NewLine}} after your Userboxes to force the next section to start underneath them. This should only be used for things like images, userboxes, and floating tables, though. For regular text, just use blank lines or <br>. Robin Hoodtalk 06:55, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I will try it if my userboxes get messed up again. --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:38, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Just a reminder that the above tip will work a lot better than constantly adding blank lines. Blank lines may not be enough at different window sizes. Just put one {{NewLine}} command in and you'll never again have to worry about how many blank lines to add. Robin Hoodtalk 17:25, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

You are right, I will try it now to see if it works. --Rigas Papadopoulos Do you want anything? 08:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)\

It works, I will use it instead of adding blank lines. Thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos Do you want anything? 08:59, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

More Information[edit]

I noticed that you made a new section on Rpeh's talk page about what happened with Elliot, since he (understandably) doesn't want to talk about it go through the AN. That should give you all the information you're looking for.--{{SUBST: User talk:Rigas Papadopoulos/Sandbox/Signature }} 17:09, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the information but who are you? --Rigas Papadopoulos 17:40, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
That was TheAlbinoOrc. I'm guessing he's experimenting with his signature and did something very very wrong. ;) Robin Hoodtalk 17:52, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos 17:53, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Speaking of signatures, have you taken a look at some of the custom signatures? MikeTalk 02:26, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Not really, because I do not want to mess everything up if I make a mistake. Besides, I like my singature the way it is. --Rigas Papadopoulos 04:59, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Welcome Messages[edit]

It's great that you want to welcome new users, but try to restrict it to users who've joined within the last week or two. The two users you just did haven't made a single contribution in several years. Also, don't forget to put "Welcome" (without the quotes, obviously) in the subject line. Robin Hoodtalk 18:12, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay but how can I understand if a user is new? Also what does quotes mean (I am Greece so I've not mastered the English language)? --Rigas Papadopoulos 18:22, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
As I said on my page, just go to the User Creation Log. All the new users will show up there, from newest to oldest. Oh and quotes are these things: ' ‘ ’ " “ ” Robin Hoodtalk 20:15, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos 04:57, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey Rigas. Before doing the Welcome-thing, could you check out the link RobinHood70 provided above? I know for a fact that both TheEnigmaticMan and Daft are older users and welcoming them after all this time seems weird considering that both of them have a lot of edits under their belt. Also, remember to check the users' talkpage before posting a Welcome-message; sometimes users have received warnings or participated in heated discussions - and if that is the case, a Welcome is quite frankly a waste of time. Keep it up, though - welcoming new users is a good thing! --Krusty 19:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I get it. I was you that said "we should not welcome users a few minutes after we warn them for nonsense" right? --Rigas Papadopoulos 04:58, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Modding Questsions[edit]

I've noticed you ask a lot of questions about modding. That's fine, but you should understand that not many people here are modders, so you often won't get a reply. You might have more luck asking on the official forums or on the TES Construction Set Wiki. rpeh •TCE 09:11, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Really? I ask Matt because he says he know his way around the Construction Set very well. --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:34, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Sure. I know my way around the CS too, but there's a difference between that and knowing the answers to questions like this. rpeh •TCE 10:53, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

You're right. I should ask at official forums. However this site helped me so much that I believe there is someone at this site skilled enough with modding to be able to answer my questions. --Rigas Papadopoulos 10:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes there will be. I just didn't want you to think we're ignoring your questions. rpeh •TCE 11:09, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I know that you are not ignoring my questions. I remember in a talk page that you said to someone "the fact that nobody answers your question does not mean that they do not want to answer to you. It possibly means that they do not know the answer." I think it was the Oblivion:Glitches talk page. --Rigas Papadopoulos 11:17, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Wrong, it was the Oblivion:Blade talk page. --Rigas Papadopoulos 11:53, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Horrible Graphics Bug![edit]

My Oblivion game at the PC now has a horrible graphics bug! The ground is purple! I do not know what caused it. Any ideas? --Rigas Papadopoulos 19:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Purple objects are usually the result of uninstalling a mod when you were somewhere that that mod added or changed. The other possibility is that you've somehow deleted a necessary file. Robin Hoodtalk 20:30, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I did not unistall any third party mod because I never installed a third party mod. I did not delete any file. And an update; besides the purple ground all over Tamriel, also the ground in Planes of Oblivion is pink to orange. --Rigas Papadopoulos 04:56, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
I'd start with reinstalling the game and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you might want to ask around in our forums. Robin Hoodtalk 05:18, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

I reinstalled the game but nothing changed. I will ask at forums to understand what happened. --Rigas Papadopoulos 09:50, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Bruma Guard Glitch[edit]

I had a weird glitch with a Bruma Guard. I was at the Great Hall of Castle Bruma. There was a guard next to the door and I tried to speak with him. When I entered the dialogue screen with him he tried to arrest me (I did not had a bounty). Because his dispotition towards me was 100 he said he will take care of it. Right after I exited the dialogue screen he tried to arrest me but he said again that he will take care of it. When I exited the dialogue screen he tried to arrest me again but this time he did not said he will take care of it but tried to arrest me normally. I resisted arrest but when he said "then pay with your blood" and exited the dialogue screen he tried to arrest me again. I deciced to go to jail but while I was in the cell, the same guard came and tried to arrest me again! I deciced to load an earlier save. Any ideas of what might happened? --Rigas Papadopoulos 15:32, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Just a bug in the guard AI, try starting a new game and see if it does it. MikeTalk 15:23, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

I reloaded that save. The Guard did it again but I found out what caused him to arrest me. Before I talked to him I entered the Private Quarters by lockpicking the door. When I entered 4 people screamed that I assaulted them; "By the Nine Divines, assault, assault." and things like that. I checked my bounty and it was 160. That is why the Guard came to arrest me. I still can not understand why he arrest me after he was paying my fine and in the cell. --Rigas Papadopoulos Talk 07:54, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
