Sorry about the Enchanted Items[edit]

I just merged all of the items by Body Part into User:Minimang/Enchanted Apparel. I do not know how to delete pages, but because I did this, can the following pages please be deleted?: Oblivion:Enchanted Outfits, Oblivion:Enchanted Leg Items, Oblivion:Enchanted Torso Items, Oblivion:Enchanted Wrist Items, Oblivion:Enchanted Feet Items, Oblivion:Enchanted Head Items.

Also, under User:Minimang/Enchanted Apparel, it does not have a table of contents on the top of it, so scrolling through to find things is very difficult. :( Is there a hide function on this wiki? Like if I had a bunch of information, could I put it all under a thing that looks like the Table of Contents thing where it says Contents Hide / Show?

Sorry for the questions, and not waiting for a consensus. I didn't make any new pages under the Oblivion namespace, but is it okay if I just use Enchanted Apparel as my sorta sandbox, seeing as it is all finalized info? --Minimang 22:09, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

About my "main article" addition[edit]

I see what you mean that it needs to be in encyclopedia form. I had changed it, and re-added it. The original article is WRONG it says there is NO WAY to do it and my amendment *IS* the way to do it so I don't see why my amendment should not be in the main article. They talk about many ways to try to do it but say there is NO WAY to do all three. I feel that it should be a priority to put my addition on the page as it is the ONLY way you can get the spell, clear the quests and keep the book with no flag. Lorelei

I understand that you're trying to help, but the section still doesn't fit the style guide. As I said before, it would be better if you study the style guide and revise the section where it has been posted on the article's talk page instead of adding it over and over without explaining what you're doing. It looks like this section will also need to be verified by other users as well to make sure it can be done. Once all that has been taken care of, it can definitely go on the main page! We really appreciate your help, but it would be even better if the section were cleaned up a bit :). Thanks! –Eshetalk 01:49, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Quick Question[edit]

Hi! I have a quick question. How do you vote/nominate a featured article? Thank you!--Arch-Mage Matt 01:43, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

We could use your help, please :)[edit]

Hey Eshe, you've likely already noticed, but Krusty and I have been trying to rewrite Baiting the Trap, by adding a bit more narative in the form of Kiliban Nyrandil's quotes thoughout the dungeon, and fleshing out the walkthrough itself. We're quite pleased with our progress so far, but we could really use the help of someone with a PC version who can take some screenshots for us. We'd really appreciate a shot of the following things:

  1. The active Resonator of Judgement at the end of A Better Mousetrap.
  2. Each chamber with the adventurers before a choice is made. The only one currently available is the Chamber of Avarice, but it shows the dementia choice ("Drop Keys")

If you'd be so kind as to help us out, we promise to give you due credit and a plate full of cookies :) Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 18:14, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

You bet! I'll add them to my list :). –Eshetalk 18:32, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey Eshe, Krusty and I would like to add to our request :) If it's not too much trouble, we think that the Chamber of the Gnarl shot would look good with the adventurers mocking the tiny Gnarl before a choice is made. Also (again, if possible) could you get us a shot of the actual battle during Shivering:Ghosts of Vitharn? We've been trying to rewrite that one here as well. As I mentioned, eternal thanks and many cookies are waiting for you :P Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 16:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Mmkay, I'll see what I can do. I might actually have a file pretty close to where I'd need to be for the Gnarl shot. The other...might have to wait a little longer, unfortunately. I'll check it out :). –Eshetalk 23:48, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

"wikitable sortable"[edit]

In the Community Portal, you put a table in that had buttons on it so you could sort it any way you liked.

THATS AMAZING. INCREDIBLE. WHY ISNT THIS EVERYWHERE? I just saw it in Unique Items, but it should be like EVERYWHERE WOW!

When was this put in? --Minimang 20:30, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Isn't it neat? Sortable tables rock my world :).
I have no idea how long the function has been available, but we've been using it on various types of articles, such as the Morrowind Factions (if memory serves). They don't work well for every type of table, but they sure are useful! –Eshetalk 20:46, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Trouble with Boxes[edit]

I'm currently having trouble with my box the image is to large. The guide states use a "|40px" command in the image declaration
which I did. But the image is still large.

Mentor request?[edit]

Hello Eshe! As you can see, I'm a new editor here, though I've been frequenting the wiki for some time now. I am an IT Administrator and can work my way around most things electronical-internetical (yes I know that's not a word), but being completely new to wiki editing I really could use some help. If you have the time, and you don't mind mentoring me, then just let me know and I can have a think about what it is exactly I wish to achieve here!

Thanks, Daniellibus 17:25, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey there! Welcome to UESP :). I'd be happy to help you in any way that I can. Other than my talk page, I can be contacted by email (there's a link at the top of the page) or IRC. Anyway, let me know what questions you have and I'll see what I can do :). –Eshetalk 17:41, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Category Talk:Message Boards[edit]

I cannot just revert Category talk:Message Boards|this one, since it's a new page. —Daniellibus ETC 23:07, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, to clarify: I know you would have seen it, I was wanting to know if you could explain what I would do in this situation, for future reference? —Daniellibus ETC 23:09, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
That's okay! Nonsense page creations like that can be instantly deleted. If there's an admin around, we'll zap it on sight. If you don't think there's an admin around, you can stick a {{speedydelete}} tag on it to help mark it as nonsense. Sometimes pages are created with some...pretty vile things on them. If you see that happen and there isn't an admin around, tag it for speedy deletion and feel free to delete the nastiness :). –Eshetalk 23:13, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Double-check[edit]

Can you please have a quick look over the work I've done in Tes3Mod:Tamriel Rebuilt/A Clannfear in Firewatch and tell me if it's good enough - I would like feedback (good or bad) before doing any more. Thanks —Daniellibus ETC 23:22, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I don't really know anything about Tamriel Rebuilt so I can't check for content, but it looks pretty good! One thing you might want to do is remove the # marks from the start of each paragraph. It makes the wiki think you're trying to do a numbered list (or in this case, a list of much 1). The detailed walkthrough should be in paragraph form, so if you remove those marks it should be okay.
The other thing I would watch out for is tense. The section is switching back and forth between present and future tense. The norm for quest articles seems to be future tense, so you might want to make a couple adjustments for that.
Otherwise I'd say it looks good! Nice work :) –Eshetalk 23:34, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. If I change the numbered list to paragraph form, are the new paragraphs initiated the same way as in this conversation, i.e. by using colon : ? —Daniellibus ETC 23:52, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Nah, we don't bother with trying to indent paragraphs :). We only do it on talk pages to help keep the comments organized. It doesn't really work out so well on articles,
especially when you try it like this :(.
So just zap 'em and you'll be fine ;). –Eshetalk 23:42, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again. I remember seeing somewhere a guide describing when capitalisation should and should not be used, but I cannot for the life of me find it again! You wouldn't happen to know where I can find it, would you? Not sure about my capitalisation of Deadra and Clannfear. Oh, and I made the fixes you suggested and it does look a whole lot better - thanks! —Daniellibus ETC 23:52, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm...you're probably thinking of this page. If not, I'll go fish again ;). Well done by the way--the page looks much better! –Eshetalk 23:57, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes that's the very one! Thank you :) —Daniellibus ETC 00:00, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

UOP add-ons[edit]

I'm not exactly sure what you mean about a UOP namespace. The list of changes is FAR too long to put on one page - it covers about 20 pages in Word (estimate; I don't have Word). Everything's up, but I can remove the links if necessary and leave the pages as-is until someone figures out what to do with them. I've checked them over for major formatting errors, so all that really needs to be done is minor tweaking and name changes, and adding parentage (I couldn't figure out how to do that here). WalkerInShadows 18:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

That's okay. I realized after posting that on your talk page that we'd have to move all the data anyway, so it's not a big deal. We just have a habit of trying to keep things out of major namespaces (like "Oblivion:" or "Morrowind:") until we know where we want them. Anyway, like I said, it's not a big deal. Thanks so much for sharing all your data! :) –Eshetalk 18:18, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
I didn't mean putting all the changes onto one page, but rather you would begin with formatting one page of the series, so we could see how it would turn out. Once the necessary changes were made, you could add the rest of the pages with the improved formatting, thus saving work. --Timenn-<talk> 16:14, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

B.R.A.I.N.S. Project from Oblivion-Gripes/AI[edit]

I know the name of the project changed there was a link to a AI revamp originally called B.R.A.I.N.S. I think it was Better Radiant Artificial Intelligence for NPC'S. Anyhow the modder had a few videos of NPC's searching dead bodies for loot as part of his progress. This was a couple of months ago.

Now that the AI/Grips page is deleted there is no existing link to this project. The only other interesting AI project that I know exists is the NPC real jobs which is a little old now.

I was keeping my fingers crossed on this one!! Any Progress???

Thanks.

Censoring Talk Pages[edit]

Please don't do that again.

If you really want me to re-hash everything here rather than somewhere else then I can do that. Instead, I used a link to another site. The fact that you don't like it doesn't give you the right to delete said link. –rpehTCE 23:46, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I've just checked again and the website in question is full of extremely inappropriate language and direct personal attacks against members of this community. If we wouldn't tolerate it on our own site, there is certainly no call to link to it somewhere else. My intent was to remove a link to website whose content is in clear violation of our own etiquette policy and inappropriate for our younger users, not to censor you personally. (Although there is not a clear policy statement regarding links to external personal abuse, I think this is an easy call.) –Eshetalk 00:00, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
The website has a warning whenever you enter it for the first time. That should be more than enough to allow somebody to leave should they be easily offended. –rpehTCE 00:09, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
True, but there is still no reason at all to link to an attack site like that one. The particular post you linked to may be relevant to your discussion with SerCenKing, but the rest of the site is really, well, inappropriate. In the future, it may be best for you to summarize your arguments on-site rather than linking to sites that directly attack the one we're working together to improve. Thanks! –Eshetalk 00:13, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not an attack site, it's a comment site. It has, for instance, had nice things to say about you. Although it did retract them in a later post, to which I won't link. While the latest (as of right now) post is pure vitriol (and I posted a comment to say so) the rest is (mostly) either fair comment or tongue-in-cheek stupidity. I've smiled at the stuff he's said about me, and you (plural) should learn to do the same with the stuff he says about you. –rpehTCE 00:18, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
I really do not care what the writer of that site has to say about me. Personally, I find it difficult to be offended by someone who uses such malicious tactics for the sake of so-called reason. This is not about having a sense of humor about oneself; it's about what is and is not appropriate content for this site. We do not allow personal attacks and foul language here, and the link is inappropriate. I will remove the link on SerCenKing's page again, and I would appreciate it if you would please refrain from linking to such websites in the future. –Eshetalk 00:23, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Seriously, that's not your decision. You do not have the authority to edit talk pages in that way. –rpehTCE 00:25, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

(U/D)Please don't do that again.

You are not allowed to do that. You may be an admin, but you do not have the right to edit other people's talk page posts except to fix links. –rpehTCE 00:29, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

(edit conflict) It is my responsibility to use my best judgment in order to help moderate what is posted on this site. It is in fact common practice to remove inappropriate language, even from talk page posts. However, I would be happy to wait for further input from the community regarding this situation. –Eshetalk 00:31, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not your responsibility to remove content from a discussion on a userpage before the other user has had a chance to see it. If SerCenKing wants to remove that link, it's his business. I didn't reinstate the link you deleted from your talk page because that's your business but neither should you delete the link from SerC's page. Yes, you (or anyone) can delete spam links, but links to relevant discussions should be left alone.
No part of the post I made contained inappropriate language - and I hope you recall that I, more than anyone else, used to remove such language from this site to the extent that I was criticised for it. The link, as I pointed out, offers a warning before the content can be read. That is why it is totally appropriate to link to that page and why it is inappropriate for you to remove said link.
If "the community" decides to remove links to a site critical of this one then that's fine. But it would seem to give that site's tagline a little more credence, don't you think? –rpehTCE 00:40, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
In all fairness, that link could well be seen as spamming that site. There have previously been several attempts to link to it, just to draw readers in, and to my knowledge, they've all been removed. Regardless of your intent, the effect of your link is to spam it onto our site. What I would suggest is that you simply quote your reply from the external site and leave it at that. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 00:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Leave it alone. It's none of your business. –rpehTCE 00:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Since RobinHood is a member of this site, it is very much his business. This is a community effort and his input is important. Actually, I think he's given a very helpful suggestion. If you'd like to replace the link with a quote, I wouldn't see a problem with it. –Eshetalk 00:50, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
I've already said that you, as an admin, don't have the right to edit my posts on somebody else's talk page so Robin Hood, as a patroller, certainly doesn't. If he wants to comment: fine. Otherwise, it's none of his business. –rpehTCE 00:52, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) While it is generally considered taboo to edit others' talk page posts, there have been many exceptions in the past. Inappropriate content is not limited by whose talk page it is posted on.

Also, if we could please stop reverting the edit in question until the discussion reaches a conclusion, I would appreciate it. –Eshetalk 00:55, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

(e/c) As mentioned there, it's appropriate under the "Bold, Revert, Discuss" concept to leave the contested insertion off until such time as the discussion has concluded. If the discussion concludes that it can be left in place, then that's fine. Besides which, considering your comments on the aforementioned site, I would think that you of all people would understand the desire not to link to it. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 00:57, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes. Can you BOTH stop reverting until a decision is made, please? –rpehTCE 01:00, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Good Evening Rpeh! At this point I think we should remove the link. It's simply spam, and it contains personal attacks that would get the author banned if he posted them here. I'd also like to second Eshe in saying that it is totally Robin Hood's business as an upstanding member of the site.--Ratwar 01:58, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
And a good evening to you, Ratwar. It's not spam because I only posted it in one place (the link I added to this page was a different one). RobinHood was (and is) welcome to contribute to the discussion, but NOT to delete a link when a discussion was already in progress. –rpehTCE 02:02, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
It is spam. We've defined that link as spam since it was first used on this wiki, and we will continue to define it as such. It was posted not as an attempt to contribute to the discussion, merely as an attempt to gain readership to the site. That is spam, pure and simple.--Ratwar 02:08, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Help with uploading new files[edit]

Hi Eshe! First of all thanks for blocking that account, second: I seem to have a little problem to upload new versions of some images. Plug-ins for Oblivion[edit]

Hey, I have Oblivion for the PC and I went the the plug-in site but it says it's been down for a while now, is it going to be down for a long period of time? because i want some plug-ins (the closest game store with the KotK box is 234.4 miles from my house so i can't do that), so where else can I get them? PATE KNUCKLEHEAD 23:05, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

It's been down since May, unfortunately. The only other way to get the plug-ins for PC is to purchase them from a store or in the combo pack from Steam, which are both rather impractical considering you already own the game ;). They've posted a thread about it here so you can watch for updates. Sorry! –Eshetalk 00:38, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

hmm, ok, well thank you for the info anyway. PATE KNUCKLEHEAD 01:10, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
