Userboxes[edit]

Hi! I really hope you don't mind me stealing your apparently self-made userbox for Harry Potter! If you do I would be happy to remove it from my page ^_^; Jihiro 00:42, 2 February 2008 (EST)

Hey! Not a problem at all. Glad you like it! :) --Eshetalk00:49, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks! It's up now! Also, I copied and pasted your beautiful work on making them all line up all nice and neat. Thanks again! <3 Jihiro 00:57, 2 February 2008 (EST)

Permission From the One They Call Eshe.[edit]

Hello,

I would like permission to edit the current Daedric banner on your userpage (I want permission so I don't copy off of you), and edit it with a program to make one banner for myself (or if you can recommend me a blank one, it would be magnificent). Thank You Eshe. --Playjex 14:30, 4 February 2008 (EST)

Hey, not a problem! I actually just used one of the Morrowind banners on the site, erased the text, and added my own. I don't remember which one I used, but that's mostly based on personal preference (and how much text is already on it--less is easier!). So yeah, go for it!
In fact, I think I have a blank version saved on my computer somewhere, so if you like I could email that to you. Just let me know! --Eshetalk14:36, 4 February 2008 (EST)
Well, I wouldn't want to cause you any trouble with having to find the blank file on your computer, I'll just edit a MW banner. It will be completed and up on my page by around next week. Thanks a bunch! --Playjex 14:31, 6 February 2008 (EST)
I've actually already found the file, so it wouldn't be any trouble at all. Let me know if you change your mind! --Eshetalk14:34, 6 February 2008 (EST)
Hmmmm I guess could not hurt, I guess so! I've already started trying to edit another roll, but if you could e-mail that to me, it would be fantastic! I beleive I already entered my e-mail into "my preferences," so will you please, send it over? THANK YOU A BUNCH! --Playjex 14:46, 6 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks! --Playjex 15:41, 8 February 2008 (EST)

Vivec Cantons[edit]

Thanks for fixing those pages after I added the screenshots; sorry to make all that extra work for you! – KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 01:51, 8 February 2008 (EST)

Not a problem! It's tricky to format pages with that many images anyway, so don't worry about it ;). It probably wouldn't hurt to do a little more testing with layout in the future, but if you can't get it to look right it's perfectly okay to leave it for someone else! Thanks for adding those images, by the way--they look great! --Eshetalk01:56, 8 February 2008 (EST)

Re:Welcome[edit]

Thank you for being the first to welcome me to the site. I have been visiting here often for the last year (about), so I sort of know my way around here. I have found the information useful so far and am enjoying my visits on UESP. so thanks.

You're welcome! I'm glad you've gotten some use out of the place :) --Eshetalk20:35, 13 February 2008 (EST)

image namespace prefixes[edit]

Hello! I've seen your edit of the Help:Images section, where you 'mercilessly' :-) removed the unassigned prefixes for TES3, TES4... Not that I care much about that, but it brings up a question for me. Upon changeing the page I looked through other pages in search for appropriate prefixes and was unable to find any on the ones I placed '??' in front. That either means, they have not been defined yet or I just did not find any (which is much more likely). I didn't remove them to give others the chance to fill in the missing information. If we don't define them, we can assume that 'anyname' will be used. Is this really the preferred approach ? -- Adjego 05:47, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Okay, you've got a point. Defining a prefix for those images would definitely solve the problem, so if you'd like to do that then feel free! My reasoning when I removed them was that I'm pretty sure the Tes3Mod and Tes4Mod namespaces don't actually have any images, nor are they extremely likely to need any, so we wouldn't need the prefix. It's very likely that I'm wrong in my reasoning, though, so I don't have any objections to listing them on that page. --Eshetalk12:28, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Nice Work[edit]

I like the new look of the Sutch-Kvatch-Skingrad picture. =) IWon'tFightUndead 12:07, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks! I'm just glad that it's used as a thumbnail...the larger version of it certainly isn't as nice as it was before I got my paws on it ;). --Eshetalk12:23, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Non-essential NPCs[edit]

I noticed you were adding the "|essential=No" to some Shivering NPCs. First, is it really necessary to specify this? If we were to do the same for Morrowind, nearly every NPC page for the game would have to be updated, which is a lot of work. I figure, if the field isn't there, we can just assume they're non-essential by default. Secondly, even if we do decide that this information should be shown on the page, we'll have to find a better way to do it, because the way you were doing it incorrectly places every one of those NPCs into the Essential NPCs category for that namespace. (Any text in the |essential parameter adds them to the category.) Either we should change the template to not add the category if it equals "No", or we could be more efficient and change it so that it displays the "Essential=No" field for ALL NPCs where the Essential flag is omitted - that way you wouldn't have to manually change every page, as it would be done automatically. Assuming we really want to display this information, that is. --TheRealLurlock Talk 22:15, 24 February 2008 (EST)

Umm...I was just following orders from the task list. I didn't notice the issue with the category, though, which I admit is a problem and I guess it would need to be changed. Actually, it would make more sense to me to just change the template, but I wouldn't dare try to do it myself ;). –Eshetalk22:28, 24 February 2008 (EST)
Well, I fixed it so it at least won't add the category if |essential=No (though as usual, the category page will take several hours to properly reflect this change). As for making th field appear automatically as saying "No" if nothing is specified, it can be done, but first we should decide if we want to do it, and we'll have to also make sure that it can handle cases where it is specified as "No" already, so we don't get duplication. Also worrying is I think I might have seen some Oblivion pages where it said "Never" instead of "No" - if that's the case, those will incorrectly appear in the Essential category as well unless they're fixed. Don't know an easy way to search for that though. At any rate, don't go adding |essential=No to any more pages for now until we decide how we're handling this. If we make it work automatically from the template, we'll save a LOT of work by not having to do them manually one by one. (Thousands of pages for Morrowind, hundreds more for Oblivion...) Sorry you went through all that work on the Shivering pages already, because that could've been accomplished automatically via a simple template change, but that's okay, it happens to all of us sometimes. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:46, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Stubs[edit]

Sorry, I thought someone else could add more material. The material I added for it came from the Imperial Library. I thought someone more knowlegdable could add more. Basically, I'm saying that I'm not comforable with any of the edits I make to any page. If you think they should be removed, go ahead and remove them. Michaeldsuarez (talk· contribs· email) 23:00, 27 February 2008 (EST)

Well, really, more information could be added to just about every page on the site ;). The reason I asked about these pages was because at a quick glace, most of them look fairly complete (they have NPC Summaries, Related Quests, some Notes, NeedsImage tags, and introductory paragraphs). Usually when NPC pages have most or all of those things (especially the introductory paragraphs), we don't really consider them stubs anymore.
Actually, looking back at them, it looks like these pages were originally redirects because the NPCs were considered irrelevant. Was there a discussion I missed where it was determined that these NPCs are relevant and need pages? –Eshetalk23:08, 27 February 2008 (EST)
You need discussions for that? Michaeldsuarez (talk· contribs· email) 23:14, 27 February 2008 (EST)
Not exactly. A while back the decision was made to make separate pages for relevant NPCs only, since there are so many NPCs in Morrowind that basically serve no purpose at all. After doing a little checking (ie: asking Nephele), it looks like these NPCs are relevant after all, so it's fine that they have pages. I still don't think they need stub tags though, since the information they already have seems fine ;). –Eshetalk23:23, 27 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks, I'll remove them right now. Michaeldsuarez (talk· contribs· email) 23:27, 27 February 2008 (EST)
A distinction should be made between stubs and incomplete pages. Just because a page doesn't contain all the information it could does not make it a stub. Stubs are articles which contain little or no information beyond a table or something. Just because a page is short does not make it a stub either. Sometimes, there just isn't any more information worth writing down about a subject, so the article will be necessarily short. --TheRealLurlock Talk 01:54, 28 February 2008 (EST)
