Welcome![edit]

Hello Chaoarren! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

One thing more: please ensure your page creations are relevant to other things on the wiki. If a page is created with redundant or unnecessary information, it has to be deleted.

I'm exited for your enthusiasm and look forward to some great editing from you!

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! SkoomaManiac (talk) 19:32, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

New Pages[edit]

Hiya Chaoarren! I noticed you have created a new page for "Negative dialogue" in the Skyrim namespace. I'm glad you are taking initiative and putting time into contributing to the wiki, it is appreciated. :) However, a page such as this is unlikely to be needed on its own, even after you have fleshed it out with all the required information. Perhaps you could take a look at this sandbox to see if the information you're trying to add would be better off there (if it isn't already listed), or consider creating your own sandbox (by clicking that redlink) and working on it there. It's not very good practice to launch a page which is so incomplete and full of grammar/spelling errors, so working on it on your own sandbox and then asking for someone to help with that sort of thing before launching it as a real article would be preferable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :) — ABCface 19:59, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

Advice[edit]

The "show preview" button is right next to the "save page" button and below the edit summary field.

Hey Chaoarren! I notice you have been making multiple edits to your userpage (presumably to get the user boxes to work correctly), but you have not been using the show preview feature. Please keep in mind that every edit you make must be patrolled, so making multiple edits only makes things more difficult for our already-overworked patrollers. Going forward, please use the show preview feature to view the changes you have made without saving the page. Thanks! --Nocte|Chat|Look 23:11, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

I must remind you to use show preview to ensure you don't make mistakes when editing, and that you make fewer edits. Everyone will appreciate this. Please see the image I added to this page if you need help locating it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:48, 31 July 2013 (GMT)
Once again, please stop editing without using show preview. The huge number of broken templates you've inserted into your user page, and the large number of consecutive edits you've made to it are clear indicators that you are not using the button. This behavior can be considered disruptive, and we would all appreciate it if you stop. Also note that you should not edit other the user pages of other uses, as you did here. You have currently made 19 edits to your user page, and more than once have had someone else fix your templating issues. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:50, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

Userpage Advice[edit]

Heya Chaoarren! I saw that you were making multiple edits to your userpage. It seemed that you were trying to make userboxes, so you might want to check out the UESPWiki:Userboxes page for the correct codes. Also, just to remind you, please use the show preview button to see how your page will turn up and avoid excessive edits showing up in the Recent Changes page. Cheers and happy editing! —<({Quill-Tail>> 14:47, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

(Chaoarren) I made an failure on trying to upload a chao picture:( — Unsigned comment by Chaoarren (talkcontribs) at 15:41 on 1 August 2013
You can upload a file here, with the name User-Chaoarren-image name you want. And remember to sign your talk page posts with ~~~~, thanks! —<({Quill-Tail>> 15:47, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
Hey Chaoarren! I changed the name of your file to the appropriate format, and fixed the link on your user page for you. I just wanted to let you know. Also, please sign all your talk page posts with ~~~~. --Nocte|Chat|Look 11:39, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

Redoing undone Edits[edit]

Please stop adding lines to pages that have been undone several times by other users. In this case, I'm refering to Skyrim:Dragon (1, 2, 3). We also don't mention that NPC's don't use an iron dagger if they're having a daedric sword in their inventory. -- SarthesArai Talk 12:33, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

I don't remember saying anything about how NPCs don't use iron daggers. It must be anouther user Chaoarren (talk) 12:56, 2 August 2013 (GMT)
I didn't mean that you said that, but wanted to bring a comparison example. The fact that dragons don't use the unrelenting force shout is very likely just because their AI prefers the more powerfull fire/frost breath shouts, just as NPC's would prefer a daedric sword over an iron dagger. -- SarthesArai Talk 13:01, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

Uploading images[edit]

Hey there! Just a heads up, when you upload an image to our wiki you need to use the following name format: User-Chaoarren-ImageName.jpg I have had to move three of your uploaded images now. Please try to follow our naming system in the future. :> --Nocte|Chat|Look 19:09, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

I followed them, but the image still says (45x45px). Is there something im not doing right?Chaoarren (talk) 19:36, 2 August 2013 (GMT)
Nocte had already renamed the image link on your page. I have also corrected it. There is no need to alter the image names already on your page anymore. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:59, 2 August 2013 (GMT)
Chaoarren, looking at your response above, I am not sure you fully understood what I am getting at. Allow me to explain a little more. When you upload a file (add it to the wiki), you need to follow our naming conventions. If you are uploading the file specifically for use on your userpage (as with the three you uploaded), you would name it User-Chaoarren-ImageName.jpg This is what you put in the "Destination Filename" box on the file upload page. Your link to the image on your userpage would match the file name, then. When I moved your previous images to the correct name, I updated your links accordingly as a courtesy to you. :> Does that make a little more sense? --Nocte|Chat|Look 00:05, 3 August 2013 (GMT)

Page improvements[edit]

I have helped improve oblivion guard by adding dialogue lines to the page. :› Chaoarren (talk) 09:42, 9 August 2013 (GMT)

Unblock[edit]

My ip address has been apprently blocked because it was used by Nonsence bot. I do not know of Nonsense bot but I want my ip address unblocked. — Unsigned comment by Chaoarren (talkcontribs) at 22:43 on 17 November 2013 (GMT)

Your IP address was blocked for inserting nonsense into pages, with said block having expired a while ago. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:43, 17 November 2013 (GMT)
The block was set to expire in one month. Are you sure you got the ip address right? — Unsigned comment by Chaoarren (talkcontribs) at 20:07 on 18 November 2013 (GMT)
My mistake, it is still blocked. I still don't see a need to unblock it. It was indeed involved in vandalism, you already have an account so you can do as you please on the site regardless, and it's block (which is deserved) will expire in just about two weeks. I'm sorry I cannot fulfill the request, but I do not see any reason to follow through with it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:07, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
I can view pages, but I cannot edit or add content to them. Chaoarren (talk) 20:01, 19 November 2013 (GMT)
I always believed a logged in user with registered account would not be hampered by an IP ban on the IP the user is logged in from. I gather you are hindered by it, then? —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:27, 19 November 2013 (GMT)

() The block on your IP address has been lifted. I apologize for any inconvenience this caused you while we worked through this. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:32, 19 November 2013 (GMT)
