Welcome[edit]

Hello Carn‎! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! --Volanaro 07:39, 13 April 2008 (EDT) And/Or --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs)

Thanks for the help and the welcome, I'll try not to screw things up to much. --Carn 10:04, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Just so you know, I was the one who originally welcomed you (check out this page's history). Volanaro didn't place his welcome here to welcome you, but to remove my welcome (some users have something against me). If you need anything, please tell me. I'm here to help. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 10:20, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
No, we don't have anything against you, just your over-complicated and confusing welcome template and your hideously useless faction userboxes. The welcome template is fine how it is, and there is no need to justify "why it was used instead of my one". --HMSVictory 10:23, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
- to be honest i think michaeldsuarez's one sounds better and more welcoming in my opinion. HMS WARSPITE 12:14, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
How is this confusing?--Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 10:34, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Rpeh has already explained this, so I'll paraphrase it for pity's sake. Less is more, as has already been mentioned. The last thing new editors want is to be bombarded with links, bold writing and an image they've already seen on the Main Page. We've asked you not to use that template, so please refrain from it. The official one is excellent, and does not need replacing. --HMSVictory 10:53, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
I'm not replacing anything. Which new user said that they were being bombarded? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 11:10, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Can't you understand that a welcome message should be simple, concise and meaningful? We don't need a splash of bold text, links to someone's own Userpage (which is utterly pointless) or an image that is probably the first thing most new editors will see of this site anyway! Please refrain from using that template. --HMSVictory 11:13, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

It doesn't link to "someone's own Userpage." --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 11:20, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Oh yay, my Welcome page has become a battle in a war. I love wars as long as no one gets shot. As it stands I would also like to welcome Michaeldsuarez if it's a matter of honor. As it it stands in this war I shall remain neutral, like the swiss, only with Better cheese and worse watches.--Carn 11:24, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Yes, the Swiss. Did you know they shot down both Allied and Axis aircraft during the Second World War? Michaeldsaurez has been here for a while, so there is no need to welcome him other than purely out of courtesy (which is probably what you were doing anyway). --HMSVictory 11:27, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
I was not aware of that. How about Australia? They seem pretty care free, although I've never heard much bad about Iceland past the whole Viking thing.--Carn 11:33, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Australia had inlovement, albeit minor. As for Iceland, I doubt it, but I'm not certain. --HMSVictory 11:44, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
My involvement can be minor, I'm cool with that.--Carn 11:47, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
wow all this over a welcome message, tensions are running high here. HMS WARSPITE 12:14, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
I would also like to thank HMS WARSPITE for his pseudo-welcome and hereby proactively thank anyone who will welcome me.--Carn 12:34, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Apology[edit]

Carn, on behalf of UESPWiki may I apologize for the huge discussion that has kicked off on your user page and the inconvenience it probably caused for you in terms of irritating messages. I hope this little display hasn't put you off our site and that you will enjoy your time here. –RpehTCE 11:56, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Oh my no inconvenience at all, I'm all for rational debate. If you would like to get in on this action please do.--Carn 12:02, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
The argument is over. Sorry for everything. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 12:05, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Well, thats fine too.--Carn 12:17, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
