Welcome![edit]

Hello Billy Heart-Daedra! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 03:29, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the info it's helped a little :) --Billy The Daedra 04:53, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Fanfic[edit]

Hello Billy! I noticed you was having trouble adding to the Fanfiction page. You had the name and summary the wrong way around. User:Billy Heart-Daedra/Vvardenfell Gone was the correct place, I have fixed this for you and I'm going to add a delete tag onto the other two pages that you made here and here. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 03:13, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanking users[edit]

Hey Billy!I saw you wanted to thank Kimi for the help. You could always give her a cookie or an enchilada.I'm not sure how to make cookies, but if you refer to my talk page it's explained there how to post an enchilada on an editor's talk page.I hope this helps!--Skyrimplayer 03:45, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Welcome messages[edit]

Per your edits here, I wanted to let you know that we generally don't welcome users until they have made at least one genuine edit to the wiki. Many users create accounts, but don't ever edit, plus accounts are sometimes made for the purpose of spam. In the past we've had issues with spambots which create accounts with a real-looking name at the start and end, but random letters in the middle. As you can see here, the particular user that you welcomed has not made any contributions to the site yet.

Also, it looks like you copy/pasted your welcome message to create one on that page, and I thought I would direct you to this page (this section in particular), which auto-formats pre-written messages for you to include all the links and whatnot. It's really helpful and pretty easy to use. Please ask if you have any questions! ABCface 17:10, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I was just going to say - please DON'T welcome spam-bots. They are very much not welcome. Personally, I'm starting to think account names like that should be preemptively blocked on sight. They're clearly up to no good, even if they haven't successfully posted anything yet. (My guess is that this particular bot breed is being stymied by the spam-filters, which is the only reason we're not seeing any posts from it.) --TheRealLurlock Talk 18:47, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
I've picked up on what their user names are usally like.A random stream of letters,an obvious spam username(such as theree quick loans)they are rare though, and a normal name with a capital letter next to it.--Skyrimplayer 19:01, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, and of course the Realname<gibberish>Realname pattern ABCFace just mentioned also. The only ones that are maybe not spammers are the last variety, a real name with a capital letter. The others are almost always spam. --TheRealLurlock Talk 19:05, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. And another tip is that they don't leave an edit summary,so you can see basically all the contents of their page.Plus, they try to act cute an harmless, probobaly hoping you don't read the whole thing.--Skyrimplayer 19:18, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

() I need to reiterate the idea of not welcoming spammers. I see here that you welcomed a user after he edited his userpage... please be aware that one of the more common spam methods nowadays is to say something generic, like "Not much going on/I'm happy to be here on uesp.net. By the way, here's my personal blog: [insert spammy site here]." It may take a while to recognize it, but 98% of the time, if their first post to their userpage has a link to a site you've never heard of (or sounds like an advertisement), you should mark their page as spam (by typing {{speed|spam}}) and not welcome them. Additionally, if there is already a {{speed|spam}} tag on the page, then please do not add content to it, as you did here. That user's userpage followed the same spam method of appearing innocent but posting a link, which is why it was marked as spam to being with. We do have a significant issue with spam. So please, do not welcome spammers. If you are uncertain as to whether or not they are a spammer, wait until they make a definite spam edit or they make a legitimate site edit before you add the speedy tag to their page or before you welcome them. You have been given an Adoring Fan!

Thanks for welcoming me, so this little guy is here to follow you around. "I'm a creepy stalker and I will follow you, Grand Champion. I dont care if you hate me 'cause you're awesome! Ho ho ho"

I can see that I've brought back a meme.--Skyrimplayer 19:32, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, what?--Oblivion Dude 19:52, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Congradulations![edit]

Choco chip cookie.png
You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

<Your first spammer take down.Nice job!>

I might not go overboard by giving anonymous users prizes for not being spammers, though. It gives a bad impression. But good job nonetheless!--Skyrimplayer 23:37, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Pointless Awards[edit]

Can you please stop handing out pointless cookies and awards to every editor in sight; the awards are reserved for people who makes a huge effort to improve the wiki. An IP who makes two small edits and a revert of a spambot is not even close to qualify for an award and makes a joke out of the people working hard to add content. Please stop it now. You too, Skyrimplayer. --Krusty 23:49, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that Krusty.Won't happen agin.--Skyrimplayer 23:59, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry :( I won't anymore. --Billy The Daedra 23:59, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry[edit]

Hey Billy, sorry for going crazy and not assuming good faith on my talk page. I didn't mean it, but I thought swearing could get me in trouble.

Sincerest apologies,
Tom
