Sheogorath[edit]

Hey, sorry for being slow on my Sheogorath Overhaul. Anyway, it's near complete. However, to complete it I believe I'll have to work on both Jyggalag and Haskill (while the latter isn't necessary, I believe it's just all the better to work on him as well just to make things easier). That's gonna take a while though, but necessary to truly capture the essense of Sheogorath... the... well you know what I'm talking about. In any case, you can check out my Sandbox, and you can start a talk page on it, so you can mention what you don't like about it, or to be precise, what you like more about your version (the existing one), and I'll be able to argument as will other users. Problem is though, I should really start working on the Dark Seducer page, because it doesn't make sense making the Golden Saint featured and then just leaving the DS like that, that would be REAL madness. Well just take your time, like I do, and I'll be hearing from you soon I guess ;) ~ Dwarfmp 15:02, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

I'll take a look at this in a second, thanks for reminding me. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:04, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Italics?[edit]

Hey there! Remember Italics when writing dialogue! :) --Krusty 10:55, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Truth be told, I've been trying to eliminate italics used for dialogue per this discussion. There wasn't any actual resolution here, but this issue bugged me enough that I decided the easy enough way to change the current style would be to write as many dialogues as possible without italics. "Lead by example," I thought, "surely the other editors would realize this was my intention." In retrospect, I should of brought this up again before I started contradicting the most common style. Still, I imagined that if I wrote, say, the majority of the remaining dialogues (Only 172 left since I started my recent editing spree!) without italics I'd break this habit. I can be quite an idiot sometimes can't I? Still, I'd like to see italics stopped being used, and I'm willing to do the work (Actual work mind you by starting to go over to this style by doing writes, not just bot-like tweaking to current articles to go over to this style) to implement this. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 11:10, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I missed that discussion entirely, but honestly, changing the layout after...800 NPC pages... is not really the most helpful thing and is a serious waste of time - also, I believe it will destroy the layout of an incredibly huge amount of pages as italics helps prevent the text being a "wall".. I actually think the discussion concerns whether or not the " 's should be in italics or not (at least that is what the example is for) - and that the participants talk about different things. --Krusty 11:16, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough, indeed that was my original though when I replied to that conversation. I'll stick to the old format unless someone wishes to make this new style the "proper" style. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 11:21, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
Believe me, I care! ;) Anyway, here is a link to a similar discussion where we agreed to keep the colons consistent within the pages, not on all pages.

Bruscius Longus[edit]

My bad on the dialogue, thanks for catching me out on that. Legoless 12:44, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Spambots[edit]

That one appears to have created a second account. I think a longer ban might be in order.--Iamgoofball 01:27, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I already reported it on the block notification page. Not much else I can do besides give them a four hour block (And it can be hard to remember to do that as one of the automatic options for block length is three hours). --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:32, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Blocking a spam account (who always make one edit on a single page) for four hours is rather pointless. You should wait until an administrator comes along so they can indef them. Your blocking privileges are only to prevent the future editing of a vandal. Those two bots fall under no such case. Elliot (talk) 01:39, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Also, read the message you are placing on the pages: This IP address has been blocked indefinitely from editing UESPWiki. Not exactly the case. Elliot (talk) 01:40, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for reminding me to tweak the message, I forgot as I was dealing with something else (It can be quite hard to remember to tweak the spam block message) being the only patroller online right now. Either way, there is no reason not to block a spam bot in case they continue spamming. This way the damage is guaranteed to only be limited to these spam bots talk pages, which would of ended up having a block message either way. It is easy enough to delete anything these spammers create, but there is no reason to give them the ability to continue to edit. Blocking them also serves as a way to alert the admins to the problem. There is no reason to complain about me blocking something as non-controversial as a spammer. Also, my powers were given to take care of issues that require a block while the admins are off-line (See UESPWiki:Blockuser). --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:53, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I used to be the only patroller online a lot a long time ago. I'm just saying, whenever an account is advertising something on its userpage, it is only going to make that edit. I'm not saying it's an erroneous block, just a pointless one. Elliot (talk) 01:55, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
While I respect your logic and I agree that your observation is correct, I'd rather err on the side of caution either way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:07, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Haskill dialogue line[edit]

Hey, you may have noticed it's been a while since I've worked on Sheogorath/Jyggalag. That's actually because of 1 dialogue line I was looking for, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the CS. I recall Haskill mentioning something like: "Your predecessor/Sheogorath didn't want to continue the Greymarch, and fortunately, Jyggalag didn't want to either.", at least, something like that. So I can't find anything like that, but I'm pretty much convinced that's a line Haskill mentions at some point. Since you're working on Haskill, have you encountered anything like that? Could you let me know when or if you do? The pages need to be complete, and that means stating every important mention! ~ Dwarfmp 03:17, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm on it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:37, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I can't find anything. I might uncover it while I'm writing his dialogue out but I wouldn't wait for me to find this line to launch the revamped page. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

Haskill[edit]

Hey AKB. Good work with Haskill so far - if you get tired, or could use a helping hand, I'm at your disposal. I'll be the one checking everyhting in-game anyway, so I figured I'd offer to help you with that ridiculous amount of dialogue. Just holler (or choose a quest for me) and I'll get to work! :) --Krusty 23:32, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I could probably finish out the dialogue in a day or so, I've just been putting it off for a bit to finish other NPC dialogues. However, since you brought it up I guess I'll prioritize Haskill. If I need anything I'll let you know. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:47, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Recent Change[edit]

I noticed that you recently said one of the Glitches i added to SI was incomprehensible and i understand and agree with that. But could you possibly look into that or create an understandable article on it? Oblivionite 17:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

I was actually about to revert my edits when I noticed that legoless beat me to the punch. I'll give this some testing to confirm whether it actually works for other people or not. Sorry for being quick to revert your edits here. My biggest question here would be, why does this only work with the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers? Surely this should work for other summable NPCs such as Dremora correct, unless this glitch is a problem specific to the Shivering Isles? I'm a bit busy but I'll definitely try this out. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm also curious about what it does to other summons, as I doubt its specific to SI. If it can be replicated with a Dremora/creature, it might be worth including on the Oblivion:Summon article. --Legoless 18:19, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
I just confirmed it, this works with the technique described. Now time to do more in-depth testing to see just what this glitch can do. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:28, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
After some more testing I've gotten this to work with a mended flesh atronach. It seems this only works for creatures from SI. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:49, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
That is what i thought to because i recently managed this with all three SI summon greater powers but i tried multiple normal creatures but nothing happened. Getting it to stay in one cell while i move to another was the hardest part. I first discovered this by accident in Battlehorn castle, the secret champer in the private quarters is where i trapped it and i managed to fit four of each guard and one flesh atronach into my bedroom. Also I am Still working on finding out if they use real dialogue or enforce laws when in SI. Glad i could help Oblivionite 18:53, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Raising dead permanantly[edit]

Hello again AKB. Apparently i have a knack for finding glitches. I found a rather unusual one this time. I would reanimate a body,Then i reloaded an autosave made right before i cast the spell. But I reloaded it before the spell wore off. Even though the image on the save file clearly shows a dead body, as soon as I loaded the file, the subject was standing upright. Furthermore, they would not engage in conversation, but they would greet you saying, "How are you" "Hello" and player specific greetings like, "You've got some nimble fingers. What have you been getting into?". Also they were completely immune to magic forms of harm. A 100 point frost spell would do nothing but knock them down, only that they get back up. They had no evidence of being reanimated except the purple tint in their eyes which, after leaving the cell and returning, would return to normal eye color. But the Craziest part is that I have only been able to reanimate NPCs that are given 0 health from the start. My main subjects were Eduard Denile(he is the one i accidentally found this glitch on), and the Chapel of Dibella residents(after attack). I am currently looking for more dead test subjects. I am asking you because this is similar to my last glitch and I need verification before posting it. Please ask any questions you have. Once again...Oblivionite 23:13, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Giovanni Civello[edit]

Hey AKB. Just took an in-game look on your schedule for Giovanni Civello and it’s pretty odd; he sits around in his chair from he wakes up until he goes to bed and never really patrols anything. Can you see take an investigative look in the CS and see if you can find one or more bugs? Thanks. --Krusty 22:22, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I did a quick check in-game and he is using a 'Find' type package during the day, rather than a 'Wander' package which he should be using. I can't access the CS atm so that should hopefully narrow it down for AKB. mxk101Talk 22:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Nice. There's definitely something wrong and a bug note needs to be written. Laziest guard in the city - the Dark Brotherhood must be pleased! --Krusty 22:54, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
My CS is working again and I can see the problem. He has a package called LegionCommanderInOffice that doesn't have any time conditions. It is above his wander and eat packages so they will never be used. This is fixed by the UOP. mxk101Talk 23:02, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
I can't even remember writing this one, but mxk101 is entirely correct. Besides his sleep package and the MQ16martiallaw package this package supersedes everything else. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:13, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I rewrote the schedule to a much more boring version - for obvious reasons - and checked. --Krusty 06:24, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Inappropriate block[edit]

Your block of 118.82.179.217 was inappropriate. Blocks are meant to be a preventative measure rather than one that punishes. The user had clearly stopped editing anything (you blocked him 10 minutes after his last edit), so your block was unneeded. Also, remember that I am a blocker as well, so you should have taken that into consideration (perhaps there was a reason I didn't block him). Elliot (talk) 07:10, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

I forgot that you became a blocker actually. Thanks for the reminder, I'll try to keep that in mind for the future. However, arguing that my block was inappropriate is a bit odd, as the blocking policy clearly states that a block is to be issued if vandalism continues after a warning. More importantly, it was only ten minutes since his last edit, it's not like I'm blocking someone a day or so after the fact, the incident happened just minutes ago. It wasn't intended to be a punishment, I was restricting this user's ability to continue to vandalize a page after he received and responded to a warning. While you are correct in saying the user did stop, claiming that the user might of continued again after only a ten minute break isn't the most reasonable argument. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:19, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
You should have waited, which is what I was doing. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt. There are vandals and there are kids playing around. It's obvious to see which one this user was. Deletion is not explicitly vandalism, which is why I didn't block him. I gave him the first edit after the warning because he may have not seen it. Then, I just saw the next few edits as weird or accidental. IMO though, 10 minutes is too long after a petty vandal edit to block. And I was claiming that he had stopped, not that he was "taking a break". Elliot (talk) 07:25, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
You're correct, deletion is not guaranteed to be vandalism, which is why we have a notice to deal with deletions in case it was accidental. However the messages he left with the deletion (Seen here and here) is simple vandalism, which is reflected by the fact that you gave him a warning for nonsense and obscenities. Taking into account the second message this user left, it could be assumed that he planned on continuing to vandalize, which while is bad faith it's a reasonable assumption. Either way, this user clearly saw his warning and continued to delete content (Which it was primarily afterwards, but considering the continued blanking it is a fair classification that was intended vandalism and not an accident). While I agree that I could of been more patient in dealing with this matter, it was most certainly not an inappropriate block from my understanding of policy. Of course if you have an example or link to a piece of policy that further clarifies your position here I will take it into account in any future actions, but besides that I don't see how I did anything truthfully wrong here. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:42, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
You guys agree anyway, so I'll just chime in. For the record, I had done the same thing as AKB. If anybody starts removing content 4 minutes after a warning, he's more or less gone. Elliot's right though - all this blocking business is still all about patience and trying to decipher whether or not a person will continue. Block is the "last resort", so to speak, so it should always be used with caution. However, sometimes it is hard to predict what will happen in the future and an anon doing nonsensical edits will not take offense from a 4-hour break; he will just disappear anyway. Better safe than sorry, I say - at least in this case. --Krusty 08:00, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Unfounded Deletion.[edit]

Your removal of my comment on the discussion pages for Dawnfang/Duskfang was unfounded. Regardless of whether or not those users are active, other users continue to read discussion pages. My correction was to prevent any confusion of those who read the false comment. Please do not remove my comments again, I would not have added something I did not think was relevant or helpful for others who read it. Thank you. AdoringFan 21:59, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

The topic you replied to came from 2008. We treat old topics as basically archived on the active talk page after a while, while we do allow for them to be brought up occasionally those are generally whenever something important is intended to be changed on the article based on that conversation. We don't need to correct old talk page topics. Besides, I believe the question that Oblivion Nerd was asking had to do with leveled lists, not about how blade effects the swords damage. Lurlock's reply was clarifying that the base damage was the same regardless of blade level. Or at least that's how I interpreted it, the question or reply doesn't make much sense otherwise. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:47, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Prod[edit]

Oblivion:Creating an Awesome Character – Please do not remove the tag because you think it might be controversial. Remove it if and only if you support keeping it. If someone actually wants it, then we will do a deletion review, but obstructing the normal processes of a wiki is nothing but pointless. Elliot (talk) 04:30, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Right, fair enough. I'm certainly not going to defend that article. While I still don't believe it falls under the deletion policy for anything less than a deletion review, I'm not going to step in your way as you are correct, the article isn't worth saving. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:41, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
I didn't mean to come off as rude or anything, but the wheels of the wiki move slowly as it is. I'm just tired of seeing that page. Elliot (talk) 05:05, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
I understand your logic Elliot. No reason to apologize. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:29, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Maelona Dialogue Conditions[edit]

Hey AKB. I was wondering if you could check the conditions for these three lines (all three recorded for Maelona). I can't find them in-game, and you know me and missing dialogue.... Thanks in advance!

  • Oh, you heard about that? We were trying to keep it quiet, but people in this city are far too nosy. Very well, since you said you want to help. I don't suppose you've heard all of the details about the gang of harlots running their little charade here in Anvil have you?
  • If you’re female, she will instead comment: So, they're at Gweden, eh? Good to know. Keep on it.
  • Gweden isn't far; they're taking quite a risk committing these crimes so close to Anvil.

All the best. --Krusty 23:13, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

The first one is superseded by other dialogue, I don't believe it is possible to trigger it under normal conditions. The second one should be possible, if you speak to Gogan at stage fifty (While it should be possible to be heard until you complete the quest as her greeting, under normal game play conditions this is the only point at which it should be possible for it to be heard) The final line should be possible under the same conditions as the second line. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:02, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Yup, she will say the two lines at Stage 50 - never thought there would be different dialogue to hear if you decided to return to Anvil after locating Gweden. Ah well, nothing surprises me anymore. Thanks for checking! --Krusty 06:07, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

This Watcher's Eye was awarded for your exemplary patrolling in many cases. I'm on a "giving credit where it's due" roll tonight, but for a while I was unsure which template to give you. I think you deserve one of the rarely-awarded Eyes because a look at your recent contribs shows an incredible number of cases where your post is marked as "top". American spellings[edit]

I would just like to point out, because of one of your recent edits, that spelling Armour with a 'U' is not just a British spelling. A better term would be "Non-American spelling", since just about every country in the world spells things that way except for Americans. — Unsigned comment by 207.216.130.182 (talk)

It really doesn't matter. I was changing it to the spelling used by this site. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:25, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
To: 207.216.130.182, English language is the first language for 309–400 million native speakers. Obviously not just about every country in the world spells things that way. --Arkhon 23:00, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
As I said, it is a non-issue. However, if it'll make you happy I'll try to use an edit summary like: "Changed spelling to match preferred UESP version" Or something to make it clear that not only the British spell it that way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:02, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Me? I don't mind at all. I just wanted to tell 207.216.130.182 that not just about every country in the world uses English language spelling ;P. I couldn't care less if it is armour or armor. Personally I use the American-English spelling. Greetings AKB! --Arkhon 23:19, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
