About purging...[edit]

Id do it, but I have no idea how. If its something simple I can do it because its summer vacation so Ill look here often. So, if its something I can learn easily/am allowed to do, Ill do it so you can take as many days off as you want!--Catmaniac66 06:43, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer, I could certainly use the time to beat Deus Ex again. But as I mentioned on rpeh's talk page purging doesn't seem to work (Or I am an unbelievable screw up. I am leaning towards the second option right now). --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:57, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I saw that one. I had the "new messages messing it up a second time thing" and was gonna suggest it but I was beaten to the punch! Honestly, it isnt that bad of a situation. I wouldnt worry too much about the few people that see that an IP different from theirs get a warning and not realize that it doesnt affect them at all. So I guess Ill continue doing what I normally do instead (not much :-( ), have a good one!--Catmaniac66 07:01, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it often seems like I am the UESP's official site ninja doesn't it? But if you are seriously interested in taking away from the work that I am to lazy to do myself, I suggest you join the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project. Or look at the Lore Factions Sandbox, I plan on finishing this up eventually but if you want to take over the write for the factions overview I won't protest. In fact I would reward you for saving me the trouble! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:11, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
I don't know if you saw my flailing in the MediaWiki namespace yesterday, but the Dropdown Menus gadget now has extra options for purging pages. I still can't help but think that it does work, and that people still seeing the banner is caused by another warned user resetting it. Install the gadget from your preferences menu and then look at the "Page" menu you get at the top of each screen. If you're using Firefox you can open the purge menu then middle-click to open each option in a new window. Makes it a bit easier. rpeh •TCE 05:44, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Very nice, thanks for showing me that! Not sure how useful this will be, but I definitely appreciate the tip and tool. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:55, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Krusty suggested people ask for blockuser rights.[edit]

I think you should ask, as it seems clear that we need more of them. And I put this here because there have been like 5 edit conflicts :-D. Im sure you could get community support.--Catmaniac66 05:08, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

I have to disagree with you, I've found myself more than once arguing for a block when the admins found it to be unnecessary. For example, here I requested admin attention to an IP that after posting that, went dark. Krusty was correct in recommending patience over a ban which may had seen the user behind the IP continue to attempt to harass the site. As another example here I once again recommended a block, only to see the IP go dark again after a single nonsense edit in roughly a year or so. Admittedly there I believe that I was right policy wise as personal attacks are grounds for immediate blocking, and this IP had a bad history on top of that, but once again block or no block, the IP stopped. My point with this is that if the admins aren't comfortable with my judgement now without blocking rights, why would they allow me to act without having to go through them first? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:32, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, there are certainly times for restraint, but we obviously just experienced one that didnt need restraint. Obviously you dont have to be one so its all good, but someone on at this time needs to be. I mean, as long as you warn them first, if they keep doing it they should be blocked. I just dont want to have a bunch of vandalism in the off time and have someone feel that it isnt necessary to have more blockers. Have a good one!--Catmaniac66 05:36, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

modding ino space[edit]

If you look at [1] you will see that people are interested in updating the Modder's Bible and trying to centralize all the modern info we have on modding. Some people are interested in using a Wiki to contain this information and I think that this is the best course of action. shadowbeast368 has gone to the trouble of setting something up, but I think I would prefer to have things located here on UESP.net to keep everything centralized. Do you have any idea if this would be possible and who I should get in touch with about it? — Unsigned comment by MrTea (talkcontribs) at 22:59 on 17 May 2011

We have Tes 3 mod space, which you could expand I guess (I have never worked in this section of the site so I have no clue what is still needed). but besides that I have no clue how to help you. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure a TES3 modding tutorial would be welcome here. If you want the community's opinion, ask about it on the Community Portal. Legoless 22:22, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

LPRP Outline Draft[edit]

Just thought I'd let you know that the first LPRP Outline Draft is now completed. Revision and expansion is not complete, but I think that it is ready for the Community Portal. When you get the time, could you go ahead and give it a quick readthrough? Just want to make sure I got the vital stuff. --Kalis Agea 23:42, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Just noticed this, I am not sure how I feel about this actually. A lot of this seems to be common sense instructions on how to organize the collections (i.e. Bestiary, Factions, Flora etc.) which was supposed to be provided by the overviews I have still yet to get around to writing (Mainly because they are a pain in the ass to work on, and the results are never that great). Though that is admittedly pretty much the entire purpose of the OBNPCRP, it was also pretty much the sole intention of my mini project. Right now it seems to be to much of an overview of lore really, which is also worth noting that an overview/guideline for lore has been attempted already at UESPWiki:Lore. I'd really prefer more iron clad instructions on what this project would do personally. My thoughts on how to get this ready? Ask rpeh. Though I'd hate to pawn off helping you with this to rpeh, I also know that he has been a member of several projects, and the creator of at least one. If anyone would know how to organize a project and give you advice on how to set this up it would be him. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:54, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I suppose I see what you mean; I deleted the Community Portal post and moved it (for later revision) to a Word Document after reading this. The idea, like the page says, was to combine yours, mine, and rpeh's projects into one; I just didn't manage to add as much of the latter two as either of us would have liked! Anyways, seeing as I'm a noob at this, I think I'll ask rpeh like you suggested. Thanks for giving it a read-through, and thanks for your help with this!--Kalis Agea 00:04, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Question is 142 back[edit]

God Dammit he's back, my first hint was my user page, effing troll — Unsigned comment by Candc4 (talkcontribs) at 16:52 on 19 May 2011 (UTC)

He'll be going away for a lot longer as soon as an admin logs on, I just blocked him, and I'll reset the block if they don't get back in time. Don't worry about it, thanks for helping with the revert by the way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:52, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Your welcome, I didn't know people could vandalize so quickly.--Candc4 16:54, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

I guess that wasn't my last message after all. — Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 21:36 on 20 May 2011

Okay, I'm going to assume that you're JMartinez with an IP change. Just wanted to let you know, it's people like you who make the idea of closing this site of to IPs look good to me. Besides, is there really anything you gain from this? Anything except another block? No? Didn't think so.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 20:42, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
You have me mixed up with someone else? — Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 21:42 on 20 May 2011
Perhaps. If you are not, in fact, who I think you are, we'll leave it at that. But still, I have to ask, why did you post that on his page? Also, please do not post as if this is a form as you did on the talk pages forPajeen and Oblivion.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 20:49, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't realize.— Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 20:59 on 20 May 2011 (UTC)
It's fine; we just got out of a pretty big fiasco with a troublesome user. I'm kind of on the look out for said user (or, rather, his IP/changed IP).--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 20:57, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah Ok, Well I just noticed Alpha Kenny Buddy did alot of work on the site so I thought he was in charge and wanted to talk with him because I don't have an e-mail and like my last message wanted to tell him he does a nice job on the site. — Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 22:02 on 20 May 2011
Well, AKB certainly does do quite a bit of work around here, but (at the moment) he is not an Administrator. The Admins are listed here. Rpeh and Krusty are probably the most active admins on this site.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 21:08, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

() Do I have to have an e-mail in order to set up an account? — Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 21:11 on 20 May 2011 (UTC)

No you don't need an email address to set up an account, though it does help if you need to ever recover a password. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:11, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! — Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 21:24 on 20 May 2011 (UTC)
On to the claim that you might by Jmartinez323... My friend here believed that you were him due to this message he left about this message being his last message. The way you started this conversation: "I guess that wasn't my last message after all." can be construed as Jmartinez bragging about once again bypassing his ban. Personally, I believe that you aren't him on the grounds that your writing styles and mannerisms are considerably different. But to cover my bases, if I discover that you happen to by Jmartinez I will be forced to block you. Of course I don't have the means to confirm this either way so if you happen to be Jmartinez I'd suggest that if you do really wish to get pass this, please drop this act and accept you ban. Once the week is passed you will have the opportunity to prove that you aren't just a vandal.
Since I am assuming that you are not in fact Jmartinez I wish to say welcome to the site, you will receive a more formal welcome if you make an account. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:24, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm going to make an account now and I'm not jmartinez, trust me though I don't know how to prove it but thanks for the welcome.— Unsigned comment by 108.9.156.252 (talk) at 21:45 on 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey, just wanted to take this opportunity to say: welcome! Also, sorry about that whole mix-up.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 21:45, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks and it's no problem, I love elder scroll's games and used this site to help me with a quest so I figured I'd join as well. Good luck on your site guys! :). — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 22:07 on 0 May 2011 (UTC)
Alright guys It wouldn't be fair to you guys to not tell you but this is actually Jmartinez323, I was just showing how respectful I could be ofcourse I at first actually was bragging but I'm bored with your site now as it actually is useful, So see you guys later if you MUST ban my ip go ahead though i just want to let you guys know if I truely wanted to avoid your blocks I could use many ways other then simply changing my IP, You guys actually do run a tight ship and I just want to commend you guys on that, At least learn a lesson from this if a guy like me was to come around IP banning isn't the answer maybe find other ways to ban abusive users like myself say making e-mail a must because making several e-mails can be time consuming and make some persons just quit from being lazy. Well I'm done now so have fun, I actually am quite impressed with how you all acted in the situation I actually was hopeing you'd ban oblivion4lyfe to prove you guys would ban someone without knowing for sure if they were me but you surprised me good job. — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 01:23 on 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Might I also add the meaning of insane which is something along the lines of trying the same method over and over again trying to get a new result. — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 01:57 on 1 May 2011 (UTC)

() Look, I appreciate you coming clean and ending this in a civil manner. I also agree that we should make any editors have a ready e-mail. However, trying to define "insanity" like that is laughable. That's not insantiy; it's repetition.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 02:08, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." That's the definition of psychological insanity or one of them. — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 02:18 on 1 May 2011 (UTC) + "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." That's the definition of psychological insanity or one of them.
Also It's interesting you find it laughable, how is it, I mean truely think about what you believe insanity is...how would you define it? Would a sound mind try the same method if the result is harmful? Much like this situation every time you ban me I come back and cause even more trouble then before meaning the problem escalates with every attempt, think about it this way would you touch a stove after it burns you? after asking yourself that would you touch that same stove with that same finger? — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 04:24 on 1 May 2011 (UTC)
By the way, classic use of the give you something nice then take it away with two fold, it's a useful subconscious way to attack someone while defending yourself at the same time, I say subconscious because it's prob one of your go to moves unless your smart enough to realize you could lose position on the site by handling this incorrectly. — Unsigned comment by Oblivion4lyfe (talkcontribs) at 02:29 on 1 May 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict) We only follow policy rules to assume good faith. It's not our way of handling things that's the problem, it's users like you who are the ones not getting the message, so the insanity claim goes to you as well. Now would you please stop trying to disrupt the site, and try to improve it for once? We have reason enough to block you already, you shouldn't tempt us into doing it ~ Dwarfmp 02:38, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is what's commonly known as a "troll," this one with an apparent interest in the Sisyphean pointlessness of life. We ask that you refrain from feeding it and let its loneliness bring about its inevitable suicide at an accelerated rate. Thank you, and have a nice day. Minor Edits 02:41, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
