Bethesda Speaks on Importing[edit]

Re this: Bethesda has explicitly forbidden the importation of Morrowind content to oblivion, claiming it breaks copyright. Do you have a direct quote? I've heard from several sources that they've rejected importing their meshes from Morrowind into Oblivion, but I haven't seen anything on non-mesh content.

By the way, I should state strongly that this is not one of the things that you should ask Bethesda about. Rather you do it until they say "No." The reason is that that may not really have a major objection to it, but legally are required to say "No" if you have to ask. (This is the "Don't ask and I won't have to tell you 'No'!" Policy.)

Additional notes. There's also the possibility of importing non-Bethesda meshes from Morrowind mods. That's okay, and there are tools to help. Also, there is some non-mesh material from previous games that has been available in mods for a long time with no objection from Bethesda. --Wrye 14:13, 18 March 2007 (EDT)
