Quick Walkthrough[edit]

To prove Casik's innocence, you need the following journal entries:

  • "General Casik's wife, Nerasa Veran, said on the night before her husband was arrested, he confessed to her that the story of the Daedric doppelganger was a lie."

AND

  • "General Casik had an Argonian mistress who apparently vanished soon after General Casik was arrested. He was with her the entire night before he was arrested."

(50 disposition with Victrix, while asking her about "woman on the side")

AND

  • Speechcraft > 45, OR "General Casik's wife, Nerasa Veran, says the general always possessed honor."

(>50 disposition with Casik's wife, while not telling her that her husband deserves to die)

To prove Casik's guilt, you need the following items:

  • Love letter from his mistress
  • Land deed to his Nibenay property

To continue in the Legion questline without solving the quest: Just murder Casik in his cell. Note that there are consequences.

Belated Justice (TR_m3_OE_BelatedJustice)
Index Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 General Casik has been languishing in the Legion dungeon for three decades. He still insists that he is innocent. I've agreed to help Belisatha Mede, the Minister of Justice, to convince General Casik to drop his appeal.
20 General Casik has asked me to help prove his innocence, but I declined his request.
23 When I questioned General Casik's story, he became quite angry.
25 General Casik claims he saw a man who looked exactly like himself in his home. He swears this was a Daedric doppelganger.
45 According to General Casik, he and his wife had grown apart.
65 Lord General Victrix said that the officer who corroborated her story was Rumus Stannicus, who is now Nerasa Veran's bodyguard.
67 Rumus Stannicus confirmed that he witnessed Casik and Victrix's conversation, but he did not overhear what was said.
70 Caecalia Victrix said that she saw a land deed to property in the Nibenay Basin. She does not know where the land deed is now. Perhaps Nerasa Veran will know more.
105 I was unable to establish General Casik's innocence or guilt. He will remain where I found him until I can gather more evidence.
120 ☑Finishes quest I successfully proved General Casik's innocence and was given an amulet as a token of the Curia's thanks. Casik was permitted to return to the Imperial Province to retire there. His wife elected to remain in Old Ebonheart.
130 ☑Finishes quest I was able to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that General Casik was guilty of the crimes he was accused of and was given an amulet as a token of the Curia's thanks. The penalty was death by decapitation. Bizarrely, when Casik died, his body reverted to that of a Daedra's.
210 ☑Finishes quest General Casik is dead. Bizarrely, when he was killed, his body reverted to that of a Daedra's. Was he really a doppelganger after all?
Belated Justice (TR_m3_OE_BelatedJusticeA)

Belated Justice (TR_m3_OE_BelatedJusticeC)
30 I've agreed to help General Casik prove his innocence. His wife, Nerasa Veran, and his former aide, Caecalia Victrix, may be able to tell me more. I can find Nerasa in the castle and Lord General Caecalia Victrix at the Imperial Guard headquarters. Once I have all the evidence I can gather, I should present my case to Belisatha Mede.
35 I informed Belisatha Mede that I intended to present General Casik's case to her.
40 ☑Finishes quest I told Belisatha Mede that I was uninterested in continuing Casik's investigation.

Belated Justice (TR_m3_OE_BelatedJusticeF)
60 General Casik's former aide, Caecalia Victrix, told me that General Casik tried to bribe her into joining his plan, which was to disguise themselves as Dunmer, lead their troops against the Argonians, and spark a border war between Morrowind and Black Marsh.
Belated Justice (TR_m3_OE_BelatedJusticeH)
100 Nerasa Veran found a land deed for property in the Nibenay Basin among General Casik's belongings. She showed it to me, and she recognized the signature as the general's.
105 Nerasa Veran let me borrow the land deed she found.
