Hover[edit]

If the template is placed too far to the left on a page, the hover image ends up going off screen (see here). Is this an easy fix? —Legoless (talk) 15:38, 20 May 2015 (GMT)

I would think so, but I think the solution has to come from Dave or maybe RH modifying <esoitemlink>. The issue is found there, not from the template itself. Jeancey (talk) 15:51, 20 May 2015 (GMT)
I do not know if anything has been done, but to me it hover halfway off the limit of the window to the right side now. The general problem is that the hovering does not take into account the limits of the window. —MortenOSlash (talk) 15:06, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Link to wiki page instead?[edit]

The hover effects on these look really neat, and would be nice to have in more places on the site. However, linking to the ESO Item Database is not particularly useful to the majority of visitors to the site. It would be nice if we could make the link go to a relevant page on the wiki itself if a page exists, e.g. for alchemy reagents, etc. One possibility might be to make a different version of this template that does the hovers (getting info from the database), but links to the wiki page which matches the name instead. (Possibly with an altname in case of disambiguation.) — TheRealLurlock (talk) 16:59, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately that's not possible, as <esoitemlink> doesn't work like that and this template is just a wrapper for that HTML tag. But I'm not sure if that would be necessary anyway; the point of using <esoitemlink> is so that we don't end up creating pages on the wiki for individual items, and we use the database to create tables and links instead (per the original discussion on AN). For example, individual pages for reagents probably aren't needed, as we could use a similar setup to Online:Pets and list them all on the Online:Reagents page. If individual pages for certain things are necessary, then all we need to do is add the item image to that page: item-30160-1-2.png --Enodoc (talk) 17:49, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

What we've generally been doing for items with both wiki and database entries is using a wiki link in most places, with the wiki page being the one to use an Item Link. See ON:Psijic Ambrosia, which has database links for the item itself as well as the recipes, but regular (coloured) wiki links for the ingredients. If you then follow one of those wiki links (e.g. ON:Perfect Roe), you'll get the database link. —Legoless (talk) 18:17, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Gear Summary Appearance[edit]

I know that this template serves just as a markup for the <esoitemlink> html tag, but as it doesn't have its own talk page, I'm bringing it up here: Would it be possible to change the icon displayed for gear summary from the lowest to the highest possible level? With the One Tamriel update, most gear should be linked as summary, and I assume more of our readers are at the high end of the leveling curve, especially when looking for items. -- SarthesArai Talk 12:29, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. Your best bet would be to ask Dave on his talk page since he designed the link. --Enodoc (talk) 13:34, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
