Arkay[edit]

Why was Arkay removed from this template, when the Aedra page lists him as one? --Brf 20:11, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

As I replied at Arkey's talk page, Arkey cannot be considered an Aedra, as he was not one of the Divine beings who helped to create the Mundus. As his page says, both conflicting stories refute the idea that he was an original Divine. Which means that the better question is why does the Lore Aedra page say that he is one of them? --DKong27 Talk Cont 20:21, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Arkay is an Aedra. If you listen to the Prophet outside the Anvil Chapel in Oblivion, he mentions the Eight who created became nine with the ascension of Tiber Septim as Talos. Talos is also an Aedra, as if he was not his blood would not be acceptable for use to open the portal to Mankato Camoran's Paradise in the main questline of Oblivion -Nick — Unsigned comment by 66.66.158.254 (talk) at 09:19 on 6 August 2011

Chart Name[edit]

Shouldn't the "Aedra & Daedra" chart's title be "Divines", "Deities", "Gods" or something like that, since it now contains the "Other" (Arkay and Talos) category? Besides, I don't think the title of a chart should be a mere list of it's contents anyway. Also, In the "Races of the Elder Scrolls" chart, shouldn't it list "Other" (Arkay and Talos) in the "Divines" category? And in light of this; should a stubbish lore page be created about deities that do not fall into the categories of Aedra and Daedra ( Lorkhan, Almalexia, Vivec, Sotha Sil, Arkay, Talos, Ius, Tribunal saints, the All-Maker etc.)?--TheLastSwordSinger 20:14, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Moved from Lore talk:Aedra. --DKong27 Talk Cont 21:22, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Lorkhan[edit]

I think Lorkhan should be added to this Template under "Other", since although he's neither Aedric nor Daedric (as far as we know), he's still a divine being of a similar stature to the two groups. Should I add him to the Template? Bauglir100 03:57, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Sounds logical. Feel free to add it. • JATalk 04:05, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Updating[edit]

This template currently includes Aedra, Daedra, and other gods as well, so should the page be renamed to Template:Gods or similar? Or do we want to keep it strictly Aedra and Daedra? Should we include alternate names too? If we include other deities like Ebonarm and the All-Maker, I suppose it's a good way to promote the more obscure TES lore in an easily accessible way. If not, should they be included in a NavBox template somewhere?

I strongly feel we should just rename the template. Sardeth42 (talk) 02:31, 18 June 2014 (GMT)
I agree it should be renamed as well, though I don't think alternate names need to be included. They can be better explained on the page of the gods themselves. There are also plenty more gods we could add, including the Redguard deities. The Tribunal should get their own line also imo, since they are a specific pantheon of gods. --AN|L (talk) 14:38, 18 June 2014 (GMT)
If we go by pantheons, what happens when different pantheons have different names for the same deities? •WoahBro►talk 14:42, 18 June 2014 (GMT)
I'm not saying we should sort them by pantheons, as I agree that would be too complicated and we already have a page that lists pantheons. The Tribunal should be grouped together because they are a group of deities that are neither Aedra nor Daedra. The Redguard gods should be included and grouped together because they are a pantheon from a completely different tradition. --AN|L (talk) 15:04, 18 June 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, I think we should rename this and add a LOT more, especially with the addition of ESO lore. The alternate names can simply be explained in the relevant pages. The list of gods could look something like this:
  • Divines (including Arkay* and Talos)
  • Daedric Princes (all 17 including Jyggalag and Malacath)
  • Tribunal (Almalexia, Sotha Sil, Vivec)
  • Yokudan (Morwha, Ruptga, Tall Papa etc.)
  • Ancestor-Gods (Trinimac, Auri-El, Syrabane, Phynaster etc.)
  • Other (Anu, Ebonarm, Magnus, Xarxes, Padomay, Y'ffre, Lorkhan/Shezarr etc.)
I renamed Aedra to Divines because not all Aedra are worshipped as deities and Arkay's status as Aedra is uncertain, though he is definitely revered as a god. What do you think?

Generally I like this except there is an issue because the Altmer consider various gods like Xarxes to be ancestor-gods just further up the family tree than say Phynaster or Syrabane :s Also considering the Altmer (arguably Aldmer...) defined what an Aedra is... Oh well that is a different debate. Ah well sounds better than what we had at any rate :) Sardeth42 (talk) 10:11, 19 June 2014 (GMT)

() I haven't really been paying close attention to this discussion, but I'd like to remind everyone that changes to the template shouldn't be made before consensus is reached. This template has been seeing a lot of additions and undos and whatnot since this discussion started, and it seems like not everyone agrees on what should be included yet. Could we please hold off on adding any more gods until consensus is reached to avoid clogging up the recent changes page? Thanks! Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 13:51, 15 July 2014 (GMT)
