Owned?[edit]

I have joined Harkons Vampire Clan, but everything in the castle is owned (i have to steal the items). Is this a bug (in Fort Dawnguard i could take everything from the beginning), or will i be the owner of all theese things (including the human flesh, etc. on the tabeles/ books) later? — Unsigned comment by 62.75.213.58 (talk) at 01:06 on 6 November 2012‎

Yeah might be a mild glitch, a lot of the stuff is owned by after a certain point you can take most items. I believe you have to complete the Bloodstone Chalice quest first. After that I know you can take 90% of the items. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 01:53, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Valericas Room[edit]

I just wanted to point out that the text said that the empty room in the Castle is Valericas former Room. In fact it is Seranas former room. I looked this up while working with the creation kit, where you have the option to set the room as used or abandonned, and it clearly says 'SeranasRoomDisused' for example. — Unsigned comment by 88.130.119.179 (talk) at 07:22 on 14 November 2012‎

You're right, thank you for pointing this out! I'll go ahead and update the article. For future reference of anyone else checking this, the IDs are xx002944 and xx011c02. — ABCface 13:46, 14 November 2012 (GMT)

Safe Containers[edit]

So apparently 38 out of 41 are safe containers? Well.. which ones arent? After completing the Vampire Clan side of things (if you choose that) naturally most people will want to live at the castle and knowing which containers arent safe would be nice. It's documented in the very first note in the Notes section of the page:
  • All "wardrobes" and "bookcases" within the keep are safe for storage. Unless otherwise noted, other containers respawn after ten days with the rest of the keep.
Each area of the keep is documented in detail, and other safe containers are noted throughout the place walkthrough on the page. — ABCface 20:07, 14 July 2013 (GMT)

Bloodstone Chalices in the Cathedral?[edit]

I'm playing on Xbox, and just finished the Dawnguard quest line Volkihar side. The chest by the door to the cathedral contains both the filled and unfilled chalices. I can take them out and drop them, but they don't fall, allot like the paintbrushes in Oblivion. My guess is that this wasn't intended by the developers. I don't really want to add this myself, as I don't know if it should go here, or even if it's worth mentioning at all. 213.205.228.196 19:39, 14 July 2013 (GMT)

This happened to me too. I tought it was caused by the version of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch I'm using (both outdated and a translation), but if it happened to you on the Xbox it's clearly not so. Cridus (talk) 22:05, 20 November 2014 (GMT)

Trying to avoid Stealing?[edit]

"Taking things from the Keep will count as stealing even when you've completed Kindred Judgment siding with the Dawnguard."

I'm playing a very moral character who is opposed to stealing even if the previous owner is dead. If he were to go and fetch Valerica from the Soul Cairn, would he then be able to take items freely? My gut feeling says no since she already moved into her own area of the keep, but I'm wondering whether anyone has already tried this? baratron (talk) 00:13, 18 August 2013 (GMT)

No Chest/Loot in Cathedral[edit]

The Volkihar Cathedral section says that there is "a chest by the door containing minor leveled loot", but this is definitely not the case on my Xbox 360 version- there is no chest or anything in the room other than the blood fountain and (temporarily) one of the Vampire Cattle. Is this an upgrade or something that appears later on in the questline? If not, I'll correct what appears to be an oversight... -DpwnShift (talk) 04:32, 26 August 2013 (GMT)

The chest is definitely there at some point, though it's been a while since I did anything Dawnguard-related so I couldn't tell you when. It's worth looking into, though. Hopefully someone will see this and check into what the conditions are for it being there. Thanks for bringing it up! — ABCface 04:43, 26 August 2013 (GMT)
Very minor I know, but it was bugging me that it wasn't there in my game! I'm working through DG right now, so if no one else beats me to it, I'll update when it appears.--DpwnShift (talk) 15:16, 26 August 2013 (GMT)

Page name ?[edit]

Why is the article titled as "Volkihar Keep" ? In-game, it is called Castle Volkihar, so the page should be moved to the correct name. --81.153.157.68 20:39, 16 January 2014 (GMT)

As noted at the top of the page, there are both a Castle Volkihar and a Volkihar Keep. The Keep is the living area, while the Castle is the dungeon area with hostiles in it. The map marker calls it the Castle as well. Vely►t►e 20:46, 16 January 2014 (GMT)

Merchants not working?[edit]

Iv finished the quest line, but I have an issue where none of the volkihar vampires that are merchants are offering the "show me what you have for sale" dialogue The only thing I can ask them is "how can I help" to do the side quests, I'm on PC with no mods other than the official addons and the unofficial patches everything's up to date, and iv tried all the typical reloads and everything. anyone know of any console commands I could possibly use to fix this? The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is that I did not speak to everyone in the keep before finishing the quest line. Can anyone confirm that it's a possible trigger? And what I can do to fix it. Thanks.94.4.218.14 13:38, 3 December 2014 (GMT)
