Spoiling The Dark Brotherhood[edit]

Because there is now an open disagreement on this issue: here are my views specifically on whether or not members of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim should have their death revealed on the character page.

First and foremost, because spoilers are allowed on the wiki, does not mean that in all cases revealing major plot points is beneficial to the character page. It is written in the markup that spoilers should be avoided on the character page.

This is one instance where that policy should be heeded without question. In this case, information about the quest Death Incarnate should be relegated to that page. Point users from this character's page to a related quest if they would like more information. Putting one click between a reader and such a huge plot spoiler is a small, but effective way to put the responsibility in the hands of the user.

As it currently stands, one of the only "plot-twists" in Skyrim is spoiled on the character page of nearly every Dark Brotherhood Member. This is unfair to reader who is looking for background information, related quests, equipment, bugs, RefID, etc. and finds a major plot point revealed unexpectedly.

See: Oblivion's equivalent Teinaava, Ocheeva, etc. in which the Purification is not spoiled on their character pages, users are directed to the Purification quest if they would like to know what happens during that quest.

Saying that there is an "open disagreement" on this issue makes it sound like something personal, when in fact it isn't - I was simply following the disclaimer on the Main Page, which states that: "This site's purpose is to provide information; therefore, most of the content contains spoilers". It's my opinion that if someone is reading a page, they most likely want all of the information - not half of it, or a quarter of it. --Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 17:21, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Site policy says that the spoilers stay. You should note that the two examples you used are both incomplete pages (notice the ONPCRP tab at the top of the page). A more complete example, such as Sheogorath, will reveal that we greatly prefer spoilers. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:49, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Thank you both for your time and responses; I appreciate your diligence. I understand that spoilers are allowed. I am trying to make a case for including major plot information (spoilers) appropriately and reasonably.
Regarding Sheogorath: This page illustrates my point. His opening biography does not state what happens to him or the player at the end of Shivering Isles, you must scroll through the "Quest Involvement" section to the very bottom of the page. On this page, the plot information is categorized by quest and readers can reasonably expect to find plot information in the appropriate section. In this case, because we do not have a related quests section (yet?), plot information should be contained on the related quest's page, and not prominently featured in his biography. I feel this is a courtesy to the readers of the wiki.
The bots that created character pages left the following instructions:
<!-- Instructions: Provide an initial sentence summarizing the NPC (race, job, where they live). Subsequent paragraphs provide additional information about the NPC, such as related NPCs, schedule, equipment, etc. Note that quest-specific information DOES NOT belong on this page, but instead goes on the appropriate quest page. Spoilers should be avoided. -->.
I have been following these directions. I assumed they were authoritative. Are they no longer correct? --PacifistFist 18:56, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
There is a difference between quest related and quest specific. We want to tell how they're involved with the quest, not detail the entire quest altogether. The difference between Sheogorath and other NPCs is that he's a VIP, his involvement is so large that we need specific sections to organize the info. Take a look at the Oblivion:Chancellor Ocato. As he has much less to do with these quests, there is no need for additional organization. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:18, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
So be it. Thank you for your time. PacifistFist 19:26, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Teinaava and Ocheeva[edit]

I know they're both Shadowscales, but it seems rather odd that we'd reference NPCs that lived 200 years ago in a different namespace. Perhaps a link to their pages on the Lore:Shadowscales page would be better, since there's so few of them. It just seems rather irrelevant on this page, since that's their only relation and not everyone who plays Skyrim has played Oblivion. Vely►Talk►Email 00:29, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Better Picture[edit]

Can someone post a better picture of Veezara? This picture is from a bad angle and is to zoomed out. I don't own Skyrim for PC so I can't do it myself.--Thamoir the Great (talk) 21:55, 11 January 2013 (GMT)

Try adding this proposal (maybe with specific angle ideas and such) to this page. --Vulpa 22:46, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
Actually, a request like this would probably be better with a {{CleanImage}} tag on the file page. — ABCface 22:55, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
Like I said on the Image Requests page, the current image seems fine. I doubt a better one can be taken. The angle is fine, and NPC images are intended to be full-body (i.e. zoomed out). —Legoless (talk) 12:56, 20 January 2013 (GMT)
