can't feed at all?

i haven't been able to feed at all even if the person is asleep and i'm sneaking and i'm pressing E, it just brings up the pickpocket interface. is there any way to fix this? — Unsigned comment by 24.215.151.127 (talk) at 18:08 on February 24, 2012

I thought I was having the same problem, but my vampirism hadn't fully set in yet. I thought it had been three days, I had -25 health in my active effects due to vampirism, but not the other effects. And I got a message about a "strange hunger" or something like that so I thought I was a full-on vampire, but sure enough, I waited for a few days and then the other effects popped up and I was able to feed.
Ronaldomoon 02:20, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
You have to use thevtalk command and it will give you the option to feed or talk — Unsigned comment by 71.74.156.143 (talk) at 18:00 on 14 July 2012
The solution is to open the console ( ` key by default) and enter the command player.setrace <yourracehere>racevampire. For a breton example: player.setrace bretonracevampire. In my experience this fixes it permanently, but I don't know why it is needed. Uglysquid (talk) 21:30, 30 September 2012 (GMT)

Becoming a vampire

I was fighting Movarth and i had tgm on and he had been draining me for 10 minutes and i still have not become a vampire. What is the most easiest way to become a vampire(I was fighting Movarth at a low level). — Unsigned comment by Natsu (talkcontribs) at 11:21 on 27 April 2012

I'm unsure if the Vampiric Drain spell actually infects the player with vampirism. The easiest way to get the disease is to just go somewhere like this and let the vampires hit you in close combat until you become infected. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 12:50, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
You can't catch diseases with god mode on. That's why it's called god mode. Rouxez 15:28, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

() I have been really excited about being a vampire in Skyrim, so I tried to become one in my Khajiit save. I contracted it normally, then used tgm to get through a tight spot. I realised some time later that using tgm had cured me of vampirism, so I added it again through the console (I use the console a lot). The command I used to add it was "player.addspell b8780" and it added sanguinare vampiris. No worries. I decided I would wait the three days and sleep in my bed and become a vampire really fast, but the health drain disappears after 24 hours and I never become a full vampire after three days. I do get the funky vision thing when I go through dawn and dusk in the first 24 hours, but after that, nothing. It's really annoying and I can't think of anything that could be causing the problems. I even tried creating a new save from scratch without using consoles and using a non-buggy race (Imperials) but the problems persist. I really want to be a creature of the night, but the game won't let me. Does anyone have any solutions? 123.243.11.166 14:30, 7 July 2012 (UTC)mysteryman3

Remove the spell with the console. The game's probably confused and won't let you become a vampire when it thinks you already are one. Rouxez 07:03, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
and how do you remove this spell? — Unsigned comment by 27.252.43.37 (talk) at 11:08 on 16 September 2012

Hood bug

Let's talk about the bug where wearing hoods as a vampire makes the hood invisible. I have had this happen to two of my characters, both imperial. The hoods I've experienced this with is Linwe's Hood, the thieves guild hood and the guild master's hood. This is an easily repeatable bug and I think it should be on the page. I tried adding it myself but it was removed. — Unsigned comment by 85.167.32.43 (talk) at 11:40 on 8 June 2012

I would like to add tothe main page a note that the "hood bug" is very useful, one of the reasons I go vampire: with it you can wear the thieve's guild hoods TOGETHER with helms (e.g. I wear Volsung with it for extra headgear +barter) and get benefits from enchants and armor rating from both headgears. The key is to put the hood on first. This is another attractive "aspect" of being a vampire, as it is immediately available compared to having to level up and spend perks for the necromage "aspect". P.S. You can thus wear three pieces of headgear (using the circlet trick), e.g. I have Pentius Oculatus Headgear, Circlet, and the Thieves Guild Hood on at the same time. 87.228.193.252 18:29, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

"Burnt Face Glitch" fix not working in 1.6

It appears the fix to get rid of the "burnt face glitch" is not working anymore after 1.6. Is there any other fixes or ways around this on consoles or are female vampires stuck like this till further patches? 207.161.12.146 15:00, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Upon curing vampirism.

It would seem that having a vampire-only power selected (such as Vampire Sight) while curing vampirism will allow you to continue the use of said power, provided you do not select another power to be used. I've done this on the Xbox 360 version, any one else able to confirm? Crailfron 21:43, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

College aggresive to stage 4?

The article states: "The mages of the College of Winterhold will also not attack a Stage 4 vampire, provided you are a member of the college prior to becoming Stage 4, and you are not seen feeding." but they DO attack me on sight like regular citizens! Is it just me or is the article wrong. The other factions are correct, for me at least. I was a member before becoming stage 4, of that I am sure, but I don't remember if I had sanguinare vampiris or was stage 1-2. I am Arch-mage right now. Pizza_Boy 19:30, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Vampire Touch

In the page http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Vampire , it mentions them having a power called "vampire touch" which deals extra unarmed damage. Is this true and if so, why doesn't players have it when they become vampires? Mr.Scryer. 18:42, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Looked at the Creation Kit. It is true that some vampires are given that ability. As for why players don't have it, I've no clue. Perhaps it's to give NPCs an edge even when they've been disarmed and their Magicka has been depleted? Crailfron 19:20, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Hooded regeneration

Is it true that you can wear certain armors and regenerate stats during the day. Is this true, and if so what armors can? — Unsigned comment by Pcthomas2 (talkcontribs) at 06:24 on June 29, 2012

Yes that is possible heres a some lists of them Health regeneration items, Magicka regeneration items, and Stamina regeneration items. --SPMcKinney 14:28, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
That's true, BUT he was probably asking if there are unenchanted normal items that restore vampire's regeneration in the sun while wearing them. Imagine if a vampire used full body armor that covered everything from head to toe (including it's face) - technically you should NOT be affected by the sun as you are hidden from it. --Skyhirider 16:16, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
I was referring to non-enchanted items however knowing that enchanted items do effect vampires is good. — Unsigned comment by Pcthomas2 (talkcontribs) at 03:33 on 8 July 2012
Unfortunately I do not believe there are any non-enchanted clothing that work like that. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 04:19, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Loss of race specific dialogue after becoming a vampire?

Has anyone else experienced any loss of race specific dialogue after becoming a vampire? I noticed this when Suvaris Atheron (on my first arrival to Windhelm) asked my Dark Elven vampire whether or not he hated the dark elves. I thought this was odd considering that my character was a dark elf, so I tried it with a non-vampire dark elf and she did not ask the question. Has anyone else noticed something like this? — Unsigned comment by 64.131.8.76 (talk) at 19:38 on 15 July 2012

When you become a vampire your race is changed so this is not surprising, but it could be noted on the page. The Silencer speaksTalk 19:02, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
From what I've experienced myself you're actually considered a "Nord" when you're a vampire. (Alchemist store in Whiterun reffered to me as a hardy Nord) I'm also a Dark Elf, on the other hand I don't know if being cured fixes this issue. Since I made an Orc previously for the blood-kin and it turned out that you're not considered Blood-kin if you're a vampire. 78.69.74.125 05:52, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Vampire's Seduction with Dawnguard // PC version

Hello, I have trouble with the DLC. I can feed off standing, non-sleeping NPCs (Cattle) but I cannot feed off Seduced NPCs. I can get the "Feeding or Talk" menu but nothing happens if I click feed. Any ideas? — Unsigned comment by 188.25.134.34 (talk) at 17:21 on 3 August 2012

EDIT: I solved it!! What I did:
Disabled all the mods using Nexus Mod Manager (easier to install/reinstall mods)
Checked Skyrim/Data/SKSE/Plugins -> deleted everything (new patch anyway)
Checked Skyrim/Data/Scripts -> deleted everything except Source folder (leftover scripts from the time I didn't use managers)
And now it works. No more problems. — Unsigned comment by 188.25.130.8 (talk) at 09:25 on 4 August 2012

Feeding bug

A friend and I have tested this in various situations multiple times. After downloading Dawnguard, I've found that after feeding, my character is permanently stuck in place. I've tried several console commands (Such as enableplayercontrols), as well as forcing my character to teleport from the area to no avail. This effects not only the new feeding-while-standing animation, but the sleeping victim animation, as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated. The only time I've been able to avoid the problem was when my target and I were on a staircase at different heights, not allowing the animation to play. Stemming off of this, I've also tried jumping when feeding with no change. — Unsigned comment by 72.177.138.109 (talk) at 02:11 on 4 August 2012

Had this problem many times. Here's what worked for me: reloading last save and using all controls like crazy, from inventory to change of weapons, skills, powers. Eventually I got freed from it. Dunno if it's fully working, but it's worth a try. — Unsigned comment by 188.25.130.8 (talk) at 04:17 on 4 August 2012
MINOR EDIT: This happened before Dawnguard as well. — Unsigned comment by 188.25.130.8 (talk) at 04:23 on 4 August 2012
Alright, I'll give that some tests and report my results. And, to the best of my knowledge, it only happened in base Skyrim if you got stuck in something like a table while feeding. This bug happens regardless of outside conditions. — Unsigned comment by 72.177.138.109 (talk) at 05:39 on 4 August 2012
EDIT: Tried spamming every control I had in my arsenal. Even tried using Dovahkiin's Relax to start another animation without success. It seems once I'm stuck, I'm stuck for good. — Unsigned comment by 72.177.138.109 (talk) at 07:56 on 4 August 2012
I'm definite it's a mod problem. Please uninstall all mods (leave the official files okay), check Data/SKSE/Plugins and delete everything (new patch anyway, it would need to be updated with whatever's there), do the same for Data/Scripts (Source folder doesn't affect the game, it's for Creation Kit most probably) and test again with "clean" files. — Unsigned comment by 188.25.130.8 (talk) at 09:38 on 4 August 2012
This might help - a guy with the same problem, who fixed with switching load orders in a certain way; [1] 83.227.7.18 22:30, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Edit; Did not work for me at all, still freezing in my place after feeding on someone (tried on followers, wounded in Kyne temple etc)... guess a total wipe and re-install with limited addons is next (I use 243 addons, hehe.) — Unsigned comment by 83.227.7.18 (talk) at 01:43 on 5 August 2012

() Bad news, tests came up negative. No add-ons whatsoever, freshly-installed box-edition vanilla Skyrim with vanilla Dawnguard, and the bug still occurs on all feedings. 72.177.138.109 06:43, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

EDIT: I just ran several more tests. Feeding whilst standing and in front of the person results in a bounty, non-hostile witnesses, and the ability to move is maintained. Feeding whilst sneaking offers a similar effect, only my non-vampire spouse left my service afterwards. Standing and behind freezes my character in place, and witnesses are hostile. I have no clue what's going on, but it's a vast improvement over being irreversibly frozen. 72.177.138.109 07:08, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
For me what it seems to do is keep repeating the animation at seemingly random times, and being stuck while this process is going on. Doing anything in the process seems to make it an endless loop. The only way I know of that fixes it for me, is simply standing completely still for a couple minutes or so.
This will eventually stop repeating the animation. Be wary tho that there might be quite some time between repeats, so waiting is essential.
After the animation has stopped(or whenever you THINK it has stopped) simply jump and see if your character is controllable again. If not its probably best to load a save prior to feeding and try the same thing again. It might also be smart to use potions of blood instead of feeding to avoid the bug where possible.--143.176.50.64 10:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Feeding bug for NPCs sleeping on beds that are on the floor (e.g. bedrolls).

This may be the residual effects of some mod I accidentally messed up, but whenever I feed on someone sleeping on a bedroll or on any bed lying on the ground it plays the animation for feeding on someone in a normal raised bed. — Unsigned comment by Noblaum (talkcontribs) at 02:37 on 7 August 2012

NPC vampirism

There's already one here. Vely►t►e 17:48, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
I think there should be a specific paragraph stating what happens to an npc when it is infected via one of the Volkihar quests. Which abilities are added to the NPC and is it flagged as undead? Does it gain any penalties or benefits of vampirism at all and if so at which stage? These questions need to be answered. Would be best to try infecting a spouse follower and see him/her in combat. --Skyhirider 22:50, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

After Racechange

-- Cant Change Race -- I cant change to a nord! After going into and out of Vampire Lord form, I become an Argonian, as before! Don't know why, since I've already changed my race to nord... Any help? — Unsigned comment by 85.164.8.17 (talk) at 19:02 on 10 August 2012

I've experienced a similar situation. I had a custom race mod, and whenever I would go in and out of Vampire Lord form, it would revert me to my original race, rather than my custom race. Dawnguard Changes to Weakness to Sunlight

For those users who are on the PC you can easily confirm that stage 1 reduces regeneration rates by 25%, stage 2 by 50%, stage 3 by 75% and stage 4 by 100%. These changes should be reflected in the article. Thank you. — Unsigned comment by 76.216.225.96 (talk) at 19:39 on 12 August 2012

I'm not entirely sure that's true, I've had my regeneration for all 3 stunted 100% at level one. ThuumofReason 18:05, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Opened up Skyrim/Update/Dawnguard in CK, Stage 1, 2, and 4 are 100%, and Stage 3 is still (incorrectly) 75%. 72.160.106.238 20:51, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Some in-game testing has confirmed that stage 3 vampires can still regenerate at a slower rate. I'll add this to the bug page with the proper tags. ThuumofReason 17:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Feed Animation

Is there anyone else getting a bug after Dawnguard installation that makes feeding animations not play? Like the effects work but your character just stands still and your screen tints red but no visual bite is seen. --98.194.37.241 23:15, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I have this same problem. After I feed my character gets stuck and when I switch back to first person I can see inside of my player model's body. Like there are two of me or something. Then when I try to feed again to get out of the state, the tint and everything happens but I don't move at all. It used to work but all of a sudden it all stopped. I have to drink blood potions to feed now and only that.--75.169.8.242 04:17, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Already a Vampire when adding Dawnguard

If your character is already a "normal" vampire when you get the Dawnguard plug-in, do you change to the new kind with the new appearance, stats, and abilities? — Unsigned comment by 75.175.213.166 (talk) at 23:44 on 22 August 2012

You will get the new vampire eyes, you will suffer less weakness to fire and you will no longer be attacked by everyone at stage 4 vampirism. However you can only get the Vampire Lord power from Harkon or Serana even if your already a vampire. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 23:52, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Not always, I think. The stats for my already-vampire character have been renewed, but the apperance stayed the same after Dawnguard plug-in, though even 'the gift' was taken. --Mr.Killjoy (talk) 19:27, 4 October 2012 (GMT)
It depends on your race. Khajiit and Argonian characters didn't get a redesign. My Bosmer, who was a vampire before downloading Dawnguard, automatically got the change. My Khajiit it my main character, and thus is the first I played Dawnguard with. He was also a vampire before Dawnguard, so I assumed he would get the design change after talking to Harkon, though it didn't happen. I think this should be included in the article. Elven Vampires (Dawnguard)

For some reason all of my Altmer and Bosmer vampire characters have what appears to be a large dark scar running from the tip of their nose down to their chin. It happens with both male and female. I have not tested with any other races, but Im hopeful that human vampires will look better. It looks horrible and only appeared after installing dawnguard. Its making me want to cure vampirism just because it looks so damn ugly, especially on the female characters. :(

Is anybody else experiencing this? Is it race related? Is it a bug or an intentional change? 71.181.54.110 07:07, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Do you mean the "bat-like" face that Rargal Thrallmaster (Nord) has? I've checked some other named vampires, and Feran Sadri (Dunmer), Namasur (Redguard), and Salonia Caelia (Imperial) all have the same features, though it's definitely more pronounced on some than others. It doesn't seem to be affected by race, as I've found other Nord and Dunmer vampires which do not have it, but I'm not exactly sure how the game determines which player characters have it and which ones don't. For NPCs, it is definitely an intentional change, and not a bug. ABCface 13:15, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes and no, my characters have almost the same scar-like thing that Rargal Thrallmaster has that runs from his nose down except its larger and more pronounced, and they dont have the other "bat-like" features, only the scar. 71.181.54.110 20:32, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
I have an image of this with my female altmer here. I dont think its a bug, just how its suppose to look, but I think it happened on a nord char aswell. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 21:51, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Immunity to Disease

"Bone break fever's reduced stamina appeared in the active affects menu, but stamina has not been reduced." - moved from article.

Rather than cluttering up the article, this topic needs to be discussed here.

We need verification that a message may appear that says that the player, as a vampire, has contracted a disease, but that the effects will not show up under the active effects menu; or if they do (as in the case of Bone Break Fever), the effects are not actually experienced. --Xyzzy Talk 20:34, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

I know I did contract disease while I was a werewolf, from a trap, not from animals, that is. I may be some of the same. It was listed in the active effects, but I can not remember if it actually had any effect? —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:45, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
Recently, I have stood and let wolves and bears repeatedly strike my vampire character in order to test this. Not once did I receive a message saying that I had contracted a disease. I'm pretty sure it happened to my werewolf character many weeks ago before I downloaded DG, but definitely not since then. I think if this used to occur in the past, it has been patched somewhere along the line. --Xyzzy Talk 13:44, 18 September 2012 (GMT)
Try exposing to claw traps. They can inflict illness to werewolves regardless of immunity. (I can not remember if there are other traps that can too, but there might be.) —MortenOSlash (talk) 14:39, 18 September 2012 (GMT)
I don't know about vampires, but I've had the same experience as MortenOSlash with playing as a werewolf-- catching diseases from traps, but not animals. I never paid attention to whether the disease effects were actually experienced though. — ABCface 18:24, 18 September 2012 (GMT)
I observe the Disease page has been informing that diseases can be contracted from traps by both vampires and werewolves since the beginning of February this year. The first note about it was only about Bone Break Fever, but was changed to diseases in general after an observation of contraction of Ataxia was observed, according to the Edit summary for the change. There is no explicit mention of whether the observations was made on either werewolves, vampires or both, but the note concludes both can contract diseases from traps anyway. It might have only been observed on only one of them though, as there is no reference made to it. Neither is there any reference to conclude all kinds of diseases (not only Bone Break Fever and Ataxia) are contractible this way by both vampires and werewolves. This observations seems to confirm that vampires can contract diseases from traps, and mine and ABCface's observations confirms werewolf, so no need to change that I think, even if there is no exact reference to what diseases that can and can not be contracted from traps. Maybe that rather should be an update project for the Traps page? (By someone more competent than me, that is.) I see it mentioned on only one trap there, and only Bone Break Fever is mentioned as an example. —MortenOSlash (talk) 18:57, 8 October 2012 (GMT)

Playing on PC have dawnguard installed and completed. Sent Serena to hang out at the Dawnguard castle. Was revisiting the snowelf when I got the notice that I was weaker due to sunlight. Checked and it said that I have some vampire abilities. (stage 1 I believe). Then I see Serina come running past me in the forgotten vale. She had the option to follow me, but she got there by her self. The last time I saw her was in Castle dawnguard. I do remember being hit by a trap earlier but dont remember the message to say I had contracted the lesser Sanguinare Vampiris. Im now at stage 4 but there is no feed option (not in talking either) and my eyes are not glowing. I go to some inns and there are no options to go on a quest to find the cure. Ideas? 122.96.45.145 16:53, 28 September 2012 (GMT)

EDIT: After much hunting of vampires and failing to catch the Sanguinare Vampiris i went to redwater den and drank the water. Now a real vampire with glowing eyes (plus a few other diseases). — Unsigned comment by 122.96.45.145 (talk) at 06:25 on 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Embrace of Shadows

I've noticed that when you use this power and feed on someone you still remain invisible. So that might be useful for people to know if they get to stage 4 and want to feed and not be revealed as a vampire. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I figured I should mention it. Old glitch still not fixed

I noticed that characters with heterochromia iridum or two different colored eyes only get one vampiric eye when they become vampires in both the vanila game and post Dawnguard. — Unsigned comment by 24.128.66.131 (talk) at 04:56 on 9 October 2012 (UTC)

I can't progress in vampirism perks

I was draining life so many times. I was feeding. Zero progress, there is no capability to open new perks in tree of perks. Why? — Unsigned comment by 68.197.120.165 (talk) at 07:25 on 21 October 2012‎

I don't know if this helps, but the vampiric drain only gives the vampire lord perk progress if it is what kills the npc, it's also a lot easier to do than the bite killing cinematic in melee mode. — Unsigned comment by Silentsentinel (talkcontribs) at 21:10 on 4 November 2012‎
