Talsgar Getting into Fights[edit]

I see him getting in fights with everyone. — Unsigned comment by 71.239.60.214 (talk) at 19:49 on 26 November 2011

He was hostile against me for some reason after I acquired Shadowmere, no clue what caused this. — Unsigned comment by 62.20.191.26 (talk) at 22:54 on 7 December 2011
For some reason he became hostile to me and wouldn't accept surrenders after starting the Heart of Dibella quest outside of Karthwasten. Just before that I had finished the No One Escapes Cidhna Mine quest (not killing Madanach) so it might be connected to that. I reloaded my save because I didn't want to kill him so I am yet to see if he is still hostile. 203.221.239.111 08:08, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I met him in Falkreath Jail. Not in a cell, but standing outside like a guard. Seems like a bug to me. I'd place him in an inn. 178.148.13.115 07:13, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
He can show up in inns too. I just found him in the Bannered Mare.--24.140.113.127 06:48, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

RefID and Level?[edit]

By clicking on him through the console, I get "ff000c8a" - is this his RefID? Also, getlevel returns 20. -WalB 16:45, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that is his refid, but the first two digits 'ff' indicate that the Talsgar you clicked was generated at runtime, and was not placed in the world manually. This is unsurprising, as this goes for all random encounters and other types of spawns. Each time a new Talsgar is spawned, he will have a different refid (well, he's highly likely to, as refids get incremented upon spawning any new object). Because of this, there's no point in adding his refid to the article.
His level might change as well, but this needs verification (by checking Talsgar's level at different player levels, or with available tools). --188.203.162.222 00:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
What will happen if I used the 'disable' command on him? Will other copies of him still respawn?--Galacticninja 08:45, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Hostily to player character[edit]

He became hostile towards me after I killed Gaius Maro as part of the Dark Brotherhood quest line. I killed Gaius in Whiterun, is it possible Talsgar is connected to that hold in some way and becomes hostile if your bounty in that hold is large enough? Or possible that he becomes hostile after you've progressed to a certain point in the Dark Brotherhood quest line? Obax 02:02, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

I killed Gaius in the Eastmarch on his way to Riften and have 0 bounty in Whiterun, so it doesn't have anything to do with Whiterun. However, Talsgar was not hostile to me in the past. I had certainly started the Dark Brotherhood questline at that point. I can't pin down how far along I was, but I'm pretty sure I already had Shadowmere, then again, I'm not quite sure. Regardless, there seems to be a common theme of Brotherhood membership among people reporting the Talsgar hostility problem. 76.115.116.14 20:45, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
He just attacked me in the wilderness west of Solitude. I am currently working on the Recipe for Disaster quest. I have no bounty in any hold. --Xyzzy 03:30, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
He did the same to me yesterday. I had a high bounty in Solitude and walked out of town to get to the Stormcloak Quartermaster but on the road Talsgar was assaulted from some bandits. I rescued him and he tried to kill me. After knocking him out he recovered and still tried to kill me. He's almost as annoying as that argonian guy in Solitude... why on earth can they not be killed? --Nv4dispbluescreen 11:38, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
He just attacked me in Winterhold totally unpovoked???/ — Unsigned comment by 124.188.146.39 (talk) at 23:47 on 9 August 2012
He attacked me east of the standing stones. I was doing the quest to become the Thane of Falkreath and I was going to kill the bandit leader in embershard. 86.182.39.54 08:35, 19 October 2013 (GMT)
Talsgar attacked me on the tundra in between Silent Moons Camp and Halting Stream Camp in Whiterun. He's always been friendly to me in the past with a million different characters but this was the first time I've played an orc. Does he hate orcs?
In pc open console, click on target 'setav aggression 0' enter , 'stopcombat' enter.. I somehow got this bug either from dozens of mods i just installed or natural cause.--118.97.212.184 16:04, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

Duplicated[edit]

I found him in Skyrim:Nightgate Inn... duplicated. — Unsigned comment by 83.34.52.173 (talk) at 16:59 on 9 March 2012

He attacked me somewhere north of dragon's bridge. I actually saw him just pop in on a bridge somewhere on the road as if he had warped there. He immediately drew his weapon and attacked me. I killed him and he stayed dead. Have not seen him again though it has not been that long so I don't know if the game will recycle him. I was carrying ebony blade, had serrana from dawnguard though she was set to wait somewhere else. I had killed that wife of the guy who owns the mill (did the quest to get the bottle of dragon's breath mead the husband was hiding) to charge ebony blade not too long before but I did so quietly and had no bounty, though I killed her husband as well since I could not get her alone. I am done with dark brotherhood. Have the repeating quest to return to the dawnstar sanctuary again and again. Supposed to report back in as I don't have a contract at the moment.

Other things have been attacking me as well though for some reason. Guards and vigilants of stendarr in the wilds are sometimes hostile for no reason and I have no bounty. I will elude them as I don't feel like acquring one even though it's self defense. Weird thing was I ran into a hostile fox that ran up and starting nipping at my boot for no reason. Only time I ever saw that. In one of the towns a guard tried to arrest me and the dialogue option I noticed was "Pay current bounty: 0 gold"... I don't know what was up with that.

Does Talsgar respawn when killed?[edit]

Does Talsgar respawn when killed? Galacticninja 08:38, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

No, he does not respawn. Wolok gro-Barok 12:41, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
I assumed not, but is there any consequences that anyone has found if he is killed? He is not a trainer or related to any quests, I rarely see him, and it's his own fault for getting in the way of an arrow that just missed my attacker. But I want to be sure that the game will not produce a nasty glitch in some quest or anything if he is accidentally killed by a sneak-shot.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 03:47, 17 December 2012 (GMT)
Strange, the other Elder Scrolls wikia says that he respawns. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Talsgar_the_Wanderer 108.184.61.25 06:38, 7 July 2013 (GMT)
And they're wrong. Game data says he does not respawn, and game data is accurate. — ABCface 06:58, 7 July 2013 (GMT)
Supposedly non-respawning NPCs like Skjor are bugged though, resulting in respawn. Talsgar respawning should be a bug, but ES wikia writes it as an intended thing. --Quill-Tail? ! 07:10, 7 July 2013 (GMT)

() Skjor respawning is probably due to a bug in a World Interaction script. As far as I know, all of the WI scripts involving Talsgar check to see if he's dead first and do not activate if he is. --Morrolan (talk) 15:49, 26 September 2013 (GMT)

Healing Aggro?[edit]

I was near the wolf guardian for the kyne trials, when he helped me kill a bear. i healed him with heal other and he started attacking me >.< any clues as to why? --173.79.192.190 06:10, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Some NPCs consider any use of magic on them as an assault, even if it's a healing spell. I guess Talsgar is one of those. Gator Country (talk) 03:12, 26 October 2012 (GMT)
odd after accidentally attacking him when saving him from 2 orc bandits, he was aggressive to me and my atronach, he was on his knees ("immortal"?) so i killed my atronach and used healing hands on him and he stopped attacking me. - PS3 V1.08 - Fennec--Fox (talk) 10:13, 14 March 2013 (GMT)

Enemies don't kill him when he's kneeling[edit]

Saw Talsgar getting beat up by a cave bear, then he was kneeling and the bear ignored him. 76.166.130.139 13:37, 16 August 2013 (GMT)

He's a protected NPC. mxk101 (talk) 23:22, 16 August 2013 (GMT)

Calm?[edit]

I've never seen him fight so I'm not sure if he uses calm or not since generally NPC's don't use mind altering illusion spells. Has anyone seen him use it?--82.46.168.98 06:52, 24 September 2013 (GMT)

I've never seen him use it. To figure out if he ever would, you'd have to open up his AI package in the CK and see if it has any conditions that would lead him to cast it, which is probably a lot harder than it sounds. --Morrolan (talk) 09:41, 24 September 2013 (GMT)
