Marked clear?[edit]

So, has anyone actually marked the location as cleared on their maps? I just killed all three Vigilants at the location and the map didn't update. Soggybobcat (talk) 02:58, 16 June 2013 (GMT)

You may need to loot the chest in order to clear the location. --213.245.10.76 11:10, 26 June 2013 (GMT)
Can confirm no way to clear. Whoever said they could was lying. 99.43.132.231 01:01, 17 February 2014 (GMT)
Well this is awkward. 3 months later, I checked Stendarr's Beacon and it was cleared, despite not being so when I initially killed everyone. Odd. 99.43.132.231 21:36, 24 May 2014 (GMT)
The "clear" appears after a fast travel away, not immediately after killing the three Vigilants. I think the travel away forces a map refresh routine which displays the current setting for "clear" at the location, because I have encountered this behavior before here and at other locations. I would speculate that anything that forces a map refresh would also cause the "clear" to appear, for example a map update caused by a quest giver. Bottom line - it can be cleared! Flag mentioned in Notes[edit]

So in the Notes section of the page about Stendarr's Beacon, it talks about a flag with a strongbox and some loot guarded by a frost troll. It's all there, but I noticed on the interactive map, that exact location is marked as a location of the Block skill book "A Dance in Fire, v2", but I didn't see the book there, nor is it in the proximity of the flag so far as I can find. I don't think I've been to this location previously in my current game file. I'm also curious as to how one determines the distance in the game - 380 ft. SE of Stendarr's Beacon is very precise, but I don't understand how they come to that determination. Is it possible to edit this Skyrim map to include locations that are unmarked in the vanilla game? The book is there in the vanilla version and the map does include dlc locations. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 10:18, 16 June 2014 (GMT)
