Skooma[edit]

Just to document the non-obvious number of 6 skooma, there are 5 skooma in the inventory of WERoad09_LvlWEAdevturerBrawler. And the quest WERoad09 adds another one to the inventory at stage 0, this is the one that may be given to the player. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:45, 18 December 2012 (GMT)

Skooma[edit]

I was getting my head handed to me by guys (and a few orc gals) with gauntlets, just punching my mage out. They'd charge up from the side of the road and WHAMWHAMWHAMWHAMWHAMdead. I was like "WTH?" until I finally got to click on one and ID it - it was a skooma dealer. And I'd never attacked them on the road, but I had completed the quest to bust up the skooma ring in Riften. Some experimenting in further games showed that completing that quest usually makes them hostile - and as they wear brown and frequently stand among bushes, they can be rather challenging unless you're well armored. 70.57.135.82 08:32, 17 May 2013 (GMT)

Edit to add: Just tried it again with a new character, now they AREN'T hostile. Weird. 70.57.135.82 19:08, 17 May 2013 (GMT)
Back again, a year later. I finally figured it out. There's two kinds of skooma dealers you can encounter. One is the normal dealer who starts non-hostile, one is an encounter you start getting after you bust up the Cragslane operation as part of the Riften skooma quest. I realized this when I got both of them at the same time. Two identical dealers, dressed identically. The one on the right calmly waited for me to deal with him. The one on the left attacked (which prompted the one on the right to yell "My money's on the big one!", naturally). So, I did Harmony to pacify them both, stealth-killed the one and sold his stuff to the other. I should add the encounter was over pretty quick, I don't know if the peaceful one would have come to the aid of the aggressive one. Maybe I'll figure it out in another year or two. ;-)

Mining Clay[edit]

I would be happy to provide verification, but am unsure how to do so. I saved right after talking with the dealer, and I am on Xbox, if that helps. Aven Ice-Heart (talk) 07:30, 12 June 2013 (GMT)Aven Ice-Heart

I believe the issue isn't that whether they mine clay, but rather, whether they ONLY mine clay, or if they mine other veins too. Jeancey (talk) 07:40, 12 June 2013 (GMT)
Oh. I have no idea. That would be nice to know. Aven Ice-Heart (talk) 08:27, 12 June 2013 (GMT)Aven Ice-Heart
Yep. So that's the verification needed. Jeancey (talk) 09:21, 12 June 2013 (GMT)
I actuallu changed the note from clay to ore veins because clay doesn't ecist in the base game anf I figured the AI couldn't distinguish between ore veins. A----N----I----L (talk) 10:07, 12 June 2013 (EDT)
Makes sense to me, and well put, both of you. I've always loved this website, but now I am really starting to like the community as well. Aven Ice-Heart (talk) 01:11, 13 June 2013 (GMT)Aven Ice-Heart

Immobilize to Pacify[edit]

I came across this Skooma Dealer, and I go through the conversation to make him hostile so I can kill him and take all his stuff. I decided to try the Ash Shell spell(*Dragonborn DLC) I got on Solstheim, and it works on him. Interestingly enough, as soon as he's immobilized my follower stops attacking him. When I use a Paralyze enchantment or Ice Form Shout on an enemy, my follower(s) will continue to attack, but not so with Ash Shell. So out of curiosity I wait until the spell wears off, and as soon as the Dealer can move again he's no longer hostile to me and even says "Nice doing business with you", as if I had bought something from him. Like the method of yielding, the Dealer no longer has the conversation option that would turn him hostile at this point. I'm not sure if I've ever used the Paralyze spell on a hostile Dealer before, but it'd be interesting to know if it works like the Ash Shell and ends the hostility. Has anyone else used this spell and gotten a similar reaction, or used the Paralyze spell on a hostile Skooma Dealer? I wonder if it works on those random hostile adventurers who attack you out of nowhere, or those annoying mercs who insult you. Chocoholic (talk) 06:13, 21 November 2014 (GMT)
