the gears[edit]

ive been through here once befor and cleard all the things out i removed the bones and proceded through how ever when i returnd a while later i couldent get that damn bridge down the gears where stuck again only nothing was stuck in the gears....makeing it impossible to continue as theres nothing to remove so the gears are still stuck The sorrow 20:04, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Possibly related on PS3, only the spine was visible in the right far corner gear. All other gears had the relevant part on the floor next to the gear, but you could still activate and 'remove' them. --Shadowgm 18:47, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm playing on the PC and encountered the same problem after the dungeon was reset.184.59.139.152 03:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I have had the same glitch on 360. The great lift is closed, while I left it open and the button to lower the gate in the deep market is without power, while all the blockages are on the floor and cannot be interacted with. 77.249.235.60 20:05, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Same here, I wonder if there is a console command to activate this back for PC users. — Unsigned comment by Cdevine (talkcontribs) at 18:30 on 5 December 2011

() any one know if a recent patch fixes this at all? The sorrow 15:05, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

For PC users you can use TCL to turn on no clipping mode to walk through the gate and then just disable it to get to drop down at the door. You can activate the bridge guard with the use key. --Cdevine 16:26, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
You can also use the console to disable the bridge and then leap across the gap with whirlwind sprint. -cerin — Unsigned comment by 74.113.108.170 (talk) at 23:20 on 16 January 2012
Update:The bug with the gears has not yet been patched, as of ver 1.5.26.0.5. The simplest work-around for PC players is to use no-clipping mode to cross the gap and pass through the bridge.
I tried using the Whirlwind Sprint trick to pass it, but never glitched through the bridge. Can anybody try it now to see if it still works? --Xyzzy 01:09, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I just tried to glitch through using the whirlwind sprint on the 360, doesn't work. 72.77.253.92 18:28, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Confirmed, doesn't work on the PS3, either. In fact, can anybody confirm that this "glitch" trick has ever worked anywhere? I can't find any corroboration. Starting to sound like a hoax, in which case it should be removed from the article altogether. 216.243.60.171 06:12, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
It does work, however you have to use the wooden plate glitch as well to be able to glitch through the door. After the first whirlwind sprint to the other side, jump up onto the stone part on the left. Face the water and drop a plate. You have to be quick to catch it before it falls out of reach. Then turn back around slowly and place it against the door as close to you as you can without dropping. Then do another whirlwind sprint through the door. May take a few tries. I don't have a recording device but if anyone with one try it and post for others. I did this on 360 by the way. 07/11/12 108.224.125.45 21:14, 11 July 2012 (UTC)alex

() Best solution I've found for this (had it happen once) is just coming back in Via Blackreach. Gets you past the bridge and you can then re-exit up the surface lift. Lord EydvarTalk 21:50, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

I returned to Raldbthar for the Dawnguard quest Lost to the Ages, and the bones had been replaced in the gears. I added a note reflecting this to the article, but don't know if this bug has been patched for all situations by DG, rather than just for the quest. Can somebody who has Dawnguard installed test this without Lost to the Ages being active? --Xyzzy Talk 20:42, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Alain Dufont always there[edit]

Can anyone confirm that Alain Dufont in indeed always present. Cause I killed him when heading to Blackreach for Elder Knowledge and have not even begun the DB questline at all I haven't even talked to Aventus Aretino. Lord EydvarTalk 02:56, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I can confirm this. He is there regardless of whether or not you've started the relevant Dark Brotherhood quest. I remember entering Raldbthar with one of my previous characters and I hadn't even joined the Brotherhood as well. -- Helenaannevalentine 03:08, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok I added that into the notes section for Raldbthar since that can cause people problems if they're trying to get the optional or trying to marry Muiri... Lord EydvarTalk 05:21, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
I updated the main text as well. CapnZapp (talk) 14:25, 12 October 2012 (GMT)

This is in regards to the note saying that he disappears during Lost to the Ages and needing verification. I'm currently doing that quest, haven't even started the DB, and he's sitting down there at the camp so at least on the PS3 Dawnguard doesn't fix it.AlphaOmega (talk) 03:32, 2 March 2013 (GMT)

That note is indeed wrong, Alain Dufont is indeed there ALWAYS. He had a tendency to ignore you though if you're not too close to him. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 03:33, 2 March 2013 (GMT)

Raldbthar Deep Market[edit]

Is there any lore regarding this location? The name (and layout) suggests it was once used as a trading hub. CapnZapp (talk) 14:27, 12 October 2012 (GMT)

I think it's just a name that the devs thought sounded cool. A quick search of the wiki and CSList doesn't show any evidence of the zone as being anything other than a normal Dwemer dungeon. --Xyzzy Talk 03:02, 14 October 2012 (GMT)

Respawning Dwemer metal - moved from article[edit]

(PC, not tested for consoles)Upon entering Raldbthar, you will see several smeltable pieces of dwemer metal, as well as a sleeping bandit. After taking the metal and killing the bandit, you can leave Raldbthar and wait for 24 hours. Once you've finished waiting, you may reenter Raldbthar and the metal (and bandit) will be reset. This is useful for quickly gaining large amounts of metal for smelting.

I tested this 3 times with a brand new character, and neither the bandit nor the Dwemer metal parts respawned after stepping outside and waiting for 24 hours. This may have been a one-off occurrence or an interaction with a mod. --Xyzzy Talk 02:09, 7 September 2013 (GMT)

Clipping as solution if bridge is up second time (Moved from article)[edit]

Moved from article:

Clipping is not working. For you can't stand on the platform take out an object and hold on to it before it goes into the water below. But good luck trying! — Unsigned comment by 83.128.53.200 (talk) at 23:02 on 8 December 2014 (GMT)

Alain Dufont Ref causing Repeatable CTDs[edit]

Not sure if anyone else had this happen but after completing the DB quests and killing him properly, I got a DG Quest to find some dwarven schematics in Raldbthar. Was getting repeated CTDs when trying to enter the zone. Checked with TES5Edit to see what might be causing it and found nothing but LEVELED creature edits from a few mods. Tried DISABLING all mob & bandit spawns including ONE peristent bandit ref. Still got CTDs. Disabled the persistent Alain Dufont Ref and the CTD went away. Chest above claw trap in Deep Market[edit]

Dunno if anyone has seen this, but right after the ballista trap, there is the swinging claw trap that if you jump on as it goes back up, there is a chest in that little area that I believe is inaccessible otherwise

There is also a chest behind the 2 falmer tents, right where the bridge you have to drop is
