Not Spawning[edit]

Is anyone else having a problem with Voslaarum and Naaslaarum not spawning when you reach the wall? I did not even know they existed until after I had long past the area, got the second Word and was looking up info on the Paragons. I have reloaded a save right before I enter that area several times and nothing I do will make them spawn on their own. --- Eglyntine -- "Fairness Is An Illusion We Do Not Provide Here..." - NLM - -- 19:58, 14 September 2012 (GMT)

Have you killed Mirmulnir in Dragon Rising? These two dragons won't spawn if you haven't. — ABCface 20:10, 14 September 2012 (GMT)
Yes I have, I have even killed the dragon in Kynesgrove already, I just have not met up with Delphine in Riverwood to get the Thalmor Embassy quest yet. Is there a level requirement maybe? I am only lvl 60 atm.

From what I can tell here, you can encounter them even at level one (as long as you've done Dragon Rising). Someone with the CK might want to look into it further though. It may need to be added to the Bugs section if that is the case. — ABCface 22:30, 14 September 2012 (GMT)
Yes, definetly a bug. I finished the MQ, long before even installing DG, and when I passed through this location, neither dragon would spawn, only Ice Wraiths. Repeated re-loads could not get them to spawn. My character was level 50 at the time, but as many have stated, they have spawned for level 1 characters.Scottfair (talk) 18:50, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

() I am curious as to whether it has to do with the ice wraiths, if it is a random encounter. The reason I say this is because during my first run through the place was swarming with Ice Wraiths as well. So possibly, you either get the Ice Wraith encounter or the Dragons. Again, I think the only way to determine would be someone to look into the CK as AF suggested. --- Eglyntine -- "Fairness Is An Illusion We Do Not Provide Here..." - NLM - -- 18:54, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

The only time I've ever gotten ice wraiths is when I hadn't yet completed Dragon Rising in that particular playthrough. I've done four separate playthroughs, and they appeared in the three others, so my guess would be that it's a bug, rather than scripted. However, checking the CK would be the most accurate way to determine which is the case. — ABCface 22:33, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

Attempting Translation[edit]

I made an attempt at translating Naaslaarum from dragon to english. By ommitting a few letters when searching each syllable of the name on the dragon language page, I think I may have gotten close. For Naa, the closest translation was eat, eaten, or anything. Perhaps this could become all-eater? Slaa gave me again, with some imagination, endless. the 'rum' is a bit more difficult. What got me the most sensical word when taking in the context of the prior two, I found it to be closest to ancient or best. (I am aware ru is run, but like I said, I took the prior two translations into account) This could very well be wrong, but it seems to loosely translate to "Eat Endless Ancient." Could his name be dragon for Great Constant Eater, or something of the sort?

-Extra Note: Naaslaarum's twin, Voslaarum could become Opposite of neverending ancient. Perhaps simply meaning the mirror of his twin.— Unsigned comment by 98.165.72.245 (talk) at 04:40 on 12 January 2013‎

Unfortunately, speculation is interesting, but we can't put anything in for certain without some kind of source. Not all of the names make sense, and we don't know all of the words that are used... We just don't know enough to know for sure. Jeancey (talk) 04:50, 12 January 2013 (GMT)
Looking at the Dragon Language page, the names of Naaslaarum and Voslaarum can be cut up as Naas/Vos Laar Um, and be translated as Tooth/Claw Water Twin. This seems very likely to be the translation.— Unsigned comment by 94.214.140.23 (talk) on 12 February 2022

Flying Away[edit]

Both Voslaarum and Naaslaarum try to land, clip through the ice without breaking it as if landing on the bottom of the lake. Afterwards they fly straight upwards without ever stopping. — Unsigned comment by 193.83.238.247 (talk) at 21:21 on 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Yeah you're not the only one experiencing this bug, I have it as well, although on a heavily modded game.
