Making a character's skin color the same as Gelebor's?[edit]

If someone was to make a character and choose Altmer as a race, would there be any way to change the skin color to the same color as Gelebor's in order to "roleplay" as a Snow Elf? 173.238.166.40 02:33, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't think you can. The Race menu does not let you get anywhere near as pale as they are :( — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 02:53, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Are we sure he's an Altmer?[edit]

How was the information obtained that identifies him as necessarily being an Altmer? Since Dawnguard is only available on X-Box right now, there isn't any way to 100% identify his race is there? I'm not necessarily arguing that he is likely classified as an Altmer, but I'm just wanting to be sure that our information is correct. The same goes for his brother..... ---Gamer3427 19:37, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't how it was obtained. But the data has been checked and confirmed via the CK/CS on the PC. The Silencer speaksTalk 19:42, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Nephele made a run with her bot to update all the NPCs with their in-game information, so I assume she has the game data transferred to her computer where she would have been able to look at the data. Since she is always the one to do NPC bot runs, I would just assume that it is indeed the correct information, Gamer. ES(talkemail) 19:45, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
It is unfortunate that people still say that the race of Arch-Curate Vyrthur and Knight-Paladin Gelebor are Altmer, just because they were[Just like the Dremora being a remake of the Dunmer race in Skyrim]remaid using an Altmer profile. You can notice that the skin and eye color are very different from a High Elf, even the hieght of the Snow Elf is shorter than the High Elf, as well as the voice.

The game classes them as Altmer and uses the Altmer as a base for the characters. The summary box is game specific and Bethesda did not feel the need to create an entire new race for a few NPC's and we are following their lead. The Silencer speaksTalk 01:47, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Alright. Like I said, I'm not trying to argue it, I just wanted to be sure that we actually had some information to back it up..... ---Gamer3427 02:41, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

() Yesterday I replayed through Dawnguard on an earlier save with "Discerning the Transmundane" active and deliberately refrained from collecting Altmer blood so I could check if the Snow Elves we see in-game are in fact Altmer in the CK, upon defeating Arch-Curate Vyrthur I looted his body and no "Harvest Blood" interface appeared, unfortunately I had already collected Falmer blood, so could not verify whether there was a special script which would allow his blood to count as Falmer for the quest (unlikely but possible). Does anybody with greater knowledge of the CK have any idea why he dosen't count as Altmer for this quest? 212.139.91.11 02:55, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Hm, I checked and it appears that they are a unique race, but it's not what you think. It has the formid xx003788, and is called "High Elf". It is in all respects exactly identical to the regular High Elf race, except that it uses different, whiter textures for their skin. However, the editorID is "SnowElfRace", the package of skins is titled "SnowElf" (xx015c1c), and the skins are titled "NakedHandsSnowElf", "NakedFeetSnowElf", and "NakedTorsoSnowElf" (IDs xx003783, xx003781, and xx003782, respectively). So most of the in-game data says that he is a Snow Elf, and he is part of a unique race. I think this is enough justification to change the NPC Summary to say that he is a Snow Elf (not Falmer, because it uses the term "Snow Elf" in the game data). • JATalk 03:18, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
With this new information, I think it would definitely be appropriate to change the NPC Summary entry. ABCface 03:52, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Well if your looking into this it might be worth noting that his brother Arch-Curate Vyrthur has the new yellow vampire eyes like the other races, but the Altmer and Nords new vampire eyes are orange. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 15:38, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree that the summary should be changed to "Snow Elf" based on these findings.212.139.91.11 07:21, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I believe consensus has been reached. I updated this page as well as the other relevant pages with this information. • JATalk 23:05, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

He is an Original Snow Elf[edit]

He even said that he is a Snow Elf (As his Brother is) and even explained how they aren't corrupted by talking about the whole story of their isolated colony, and all... I believe, for lore reasons, we should call him a Snow Elf (Since he hates the Word Falmer now cause of the Betrayal) — Unsigned comment by 172.131.66.4 (talk) at 02:12 on 3 July 2012

Well, he is a Snow Elf according to his own dialogue, but in technical terms he is just an Altmer with light skin. --SlyKhajiit 02:15, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
I added him being a snow elf back onto the article. I'm sure it should say that he is a snow elf. Its only the summary box that should call him an Altmer as that uses game data. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 11:13, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

His mace[edit]

According to the unique items page he has a mace that can be obtained via reverse pick pocket(not sure how that works but that's what is says), however according to this page he cannot be pick pocketed at all. I haven't tried it yet but it seems more likely that this article is right. His mace is called the "Prelate's Mace" AzureKing 01:52, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I added that, I was unable to pickpocket him in Darkfall Cave or on the Temple Balcony. It just goes straight to dialogue. I have removed the note on the unique items page for now. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 22:59, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Neither alive nor dead, nor with an aura[edit]

One peculiar thing regarding Gelebor. Just for the heck of it, before Serana and I went through the portal, I cast Detect life. Okay, no response Gelebor or Serana, since we know she's a Vampire, and he's been here for thousands of years. So then I cast Detect Dead. Hey, got the nice glow from Serana - and STILL nothing from Gelebor. Okay, he's neither alive NOR dead. Scroll through my list of shouts, and pull up Detect Aura. That'll fix him, right? Whoa - Gelebor, dude, you're seriously messed up. I saw Serana AGAIN this way, but guess what? No aura from Gelebor.

So ... is he alive? And since his brother is supposed to be a vampire (when I get that far in the quest I'll do a detect dead, just to see) - what the heck is going on with Gelebor? He's not alive. He's not dead. And he has no aura... Astral Projection, maybe?  :) Agmen (talk) 03:29, 31 March 2013 (GMT)

There are alot of oddities with Gelebor. You cant attack him, cant pickpocket him, he doesn't move... — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs)
It's a quite interesting tidbit you found here. It may have something to do with the fact that he has no hitbox, but I can't say for sure. As Kimi said, he's very odd. Elakyn (talk) 03:41, 31 March 2013 (GMT)
He's tagged as a ghost, which would explain most of it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 03:51, 31 March 2013 (GMT)
