Acquisition[edit]

Is there any way to acquire this alchemical item other than the To Kill an Empire quest? 68.52.30.29

No. It's a one-time item. --Fluff 05:43, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

It says it makes a big damage health poison.[edit]

How strong? — Unsigned comment by 71.239.60.214 (talk) at 01:55 on 31 December 2011

I made it and it was 1147 in poison damage — Unsigned comment by 76.8.172.175 (talk) at 11:26 on 19 January 2012

Poison Damage wrong?[edit]

The Poison Damage from this ingredient is not 300 points. My character has a total of 272 health in total. I eat the root 3 times. My results were: 1. Try 80 Pt Life left, 2. Try 79 Pt left, 3. Try 78 Pt left. Always around 80 Pt Health left. Maybe the damage is percental and do not kill you as descripted from astrid. Can someone could confirm this and maybe add to the side please? Oh, and i don't wear any poison gear and play an imperial. Paramania 23:37, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

In the game data it says it has a "Damage Health" effect of magnitude 200. This is about what I get testing it and seems to match your results too (a bit of health already regenerated). I'll change it to 200. --Alfwyn 23:51, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Poison Values and Numbers[edit]

By wearing 5 piece +29% Alchemy clothing (Includes falmer helmet) I mixed a potion containing Jarrin Root and River Betty (River Betty being the next strongest damage health). The "Poison of Damage Health" is valued at 4266 and causes 7350 points of poison damage.

If you have the perk where poison lasts for two hits you can potentially deal 14700 points of poison damage. MrOlaf 04:53, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

That's sweet but the next most poisonous ingrediant is actually crimson nirnroot, then river betty, then deathbell, then nirnroom then the usuals {nirnroot actually is the same strength but lasts slightly longer} {Sarch Lalaith} — Unsigned comment by 94.5.8.94 (talk) at 17:33 on 6 April 2012
Also doesn't it only take the highest of the ingredient modifier anyway? (i.e. Jarrin Root + Crimson Nirnroot = Jarrin Root + [any other damage health ingredient]). AWC 3117 (talk) 09:38, 15 June 2013 (GMT)

More poison facts[edit]

If you use Jarrin Root, Crimson Nirnroot, and Glowdust can create a poison with over 9000 damage if you wear a fortify alchemy item with 25%+ alchemy. If one was to use the best fortify alchemy items in the game and tell people here how powerful a poison they can make, it would be much appreciated.— Unsigned comment by 108.41.140.100 (talk) at 01:11 on 31 March 2012

Its a unique item so there is little value in such detail. The Silencer has spoken 01:24, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Notability of Damage[edit]

Given that Jarrin Root is a unique item, is it notable that it does 3000+ damage with all relevant perks and no Fortify effects? After all, with the Shrouded Gloves and appropriate sneak/one-handed perks, you can get a dagger to around 1500 damage on a sneak attack (with no Fortify Smithing or Fortify One-handed), and you can use that more than once, but we don't mention that anywhere that I'm aware of. Getting Additional Samples[edit]

Has anyone tried adding more jarrin roots using the console? I tried it and just got a basket with the name Jarrin Root that was worth about 200 gold. --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 01:32, 8 January 2013 (GMT)

The ID you need is 0001BCBC This will give you the root as an ingredient worth 10 gold. --JC69 (talk) 17:20, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

Garden?[edit]

With the addition of owning land (and your very own garden and/or green house) is there any verification for creating more samples of the Jarrin Root using these new tools (via gardening)? It would be worthy to note on the page if it is indeed true. Satellite --98.149.253.196 05:19, 20 March 2013 (GMT)

No they don't work, sorry. You can only obtain it during the quest, by using the PC console as above, or the barrel editor on Xbox 360.--JC69 (talk) 18:12, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
What's the barrel editor? AWC 3117 (talk) 09:43, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
The barrel editor involves modding on Xbox, which is illegal, and therefore not going to be discussed on this wiki. A quick google search will help you if you're interested in that sort of information. — ABCface 12:53, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
Btw, I missed where Congress passed the Anti-modding Bill. Did Obama sign that into law or was it Bush? Lol. Modding your Xbox is not illegal. It just invalidates your warranty. Feel free to delete this after the misinformation has been taken down. — Unsigned comment by 50.174.119.171 (talk) at 07:30 on 14 February 2014
Well, you're partly correct. It wouldn't just invalidate your warranty, it could also result in revocation of your XBox Live account. Also, if we publish any kind of "how to", and someone follows those directions, we could be held liable for that. That's where legal issues come into play, and that's why we don't publish any information about that sort of thing. Oh, and you may want to have a look at Modding—Legal issues on Wikipedia. Robin Hood  (talk) 08:19, 14 February 2014 (GMT)
My understanding is that the barrel editor only modifies the savegame file. It seems to me that the only difference between that and editing a savegame file by use of a copy of the game and the console is the need for the game itself. If so, neither of those methods are really "modding" the xbox. I could understand how this could be an issue in a online co-op game in which an unfair advantage is created, i.e., Forza, but this is not the case for Skyrim. Have there been instances of people editing XBox 360 saves using the console on a computer being banned? --Draagyn (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

() I can't comment any more than I already have, since I'm not an Xbox user. I think we should err on the side of caution, though. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:43, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

5 Effect Potion Errata[edit]

There are five ways to make 5-effect potions in the base game, only one of which requires Jarrin Root:

  1. Bear Claws, Eye of Sabre Cat, and Hanging Moss create a potion with the effects Damage Magicka (from Eye of Sabre Cat and Hanging Moss), Damage Magicka Regen, Fortify Health, Fortify One-Handed (from Bear Claws and Hanging Moss), and Restore Stamina (From Bear Claws and Eye of Sabre Cat).
  2. Blisterwort, Human Heart, and Jarrin Root create a potion with the effects Damage Health, Damage Magicka, Damage Magicka Regen (Human Heart and Jarrin Root), Damage Stamina (Blisterwort and Jarrin Root), and Frenzy (Blisterwort and Human Heart).
  3. Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinella, and Scaly Pholiota create a potion with the effects Fortify Carry Weight, Weakness to Magic (Creep Cluster and Scaly Pholiota), Fortify Illusion, Regenerate Stamina (Mora Tapinella and Scaly Pholiota), and Restore Magicka (Creep Cluster and Mora Tapinella).
  4. Daedra Heart, Eye of Sabre Cat, and Silverside Perch create a potion with the effects Damage Magicka, Restore Health (Daedra Heart and Eye of Sabre Cat), Damage Stamina Regen (Daedra Heart and Silverside Perch), Ravage Health, and Restore Stamina (Eye of Sabre Cat and Silverside Perch).
  5. Glow Dust, Glowing Mushroom, and Hanging Moss create a potion with the effects Damage Magicka, Damage Magicka Regen (Glow Dust and Hanging Moss), Fortify Destruction, Resist Shock (Glow Dust and Glowing Mushroom), and Fortify Health (Glowing Mushroom and Hanging Moss).

I have successfully tested all of these recipes. — Unsigned comment by 162.203.132.32 (talk) at 19:57 on 18 May 2014

You misread the page, there is only one 5-effect poison, not potion. Plus these are documented on the Useful Potions page. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:06, 18 May 2014 (GMT)
