Stamina[edit]

Frost has higher stamina than other horses, as I can gallop non-stop from Whiterun to Riften, anyone else have similar results? 69.250.157.253 14:40, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Frost has the same stamina as any other horse for me. I don’t think he could make it from the gates of WHiterun to the Honningbrew Meadery without tiring. 98.252.79.24 13:02, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
He has more stamina than an average horse but less than shadowmere. 75.93.14.165 19:20, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Just checking using the 'getavinfo stamina' command Frost had 148 Stamina and a Markarth horse had 106, so he has close to half as much health again as a normal horse you purchase. Can't see that getting you from Whiterun to Riften though (his stamina regeneration rate is the same as a normal horse) Moonraker 21:50, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Where to find frost[edit]

Does anyone know where to find frost after you have completed the quest (and kept him), i'm not sure if he is dead, or if he just returned somewhere when i got shadowmere, i checked where i found him, if someone can tell me where to find him, or confirm he goes to the place you find him i'd be happy. I just did a test to see. I rode to Riften Stables, brought a horse then fast travelled to Markarth and back. he was still there (not in stable but outside close where I left him) I then rebooted the game and he was still there. I then used Wait to progress 3 game days and relogged. He was in the same position. Then I Fast Travelled to Solitude and waited another 3 game days. On FT back to Riften he was still in the same position as I left him originally. I expected him to make his way back to the Black-Briar hall where you steal him but he didn't. I then dismounted and got onto Frost hereupon the Riften horse immediately turned around and walked back to the stable. Frost does FT with you etc. as a normal horse but I really can't say if he ever eventually moves back to original spot or not. Moonraker 23:15, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Health and Stat Comparison Generally[edit]

To confirm his better stats and level, 'getlevel' gives a level for Frost as 25 (My level was 47, normal horses you buy are always level 4 and don't level with you) Using 'getavinfo health' showed he has 562 Base Health. A normal horse (Markarth horse) was 289. So Frost has close on to double the health of a normal horse. And close to half as much Stamina again (see comment above, i.e. can sprint for longer). Interestingly using 'getavinfo unarmeddamage' they both have a base value of 10.0 so he does not hit harder. Same goes for health and stamina regeneration rates which for both is 100 and 100. If others can confirm we may be able to work out the percentage etc and give more precise detail. Moonraker 22:23, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll update the article, thanks about his location too, unfortunalely i saved over my main save so i cant check that out myself. (Eddie The Head 04:37, 20 December 2011 (UTC))

Tell a Horse to Wait[edit]

Well, i got frost from the quest but i dont want him to fast travel with me everywhere i go, sometimes i fast travel to places near dragons, and can get killed easily, can anyone tell me, if its possible to command a horse to wait like a follower? even with the pc console? - Jorich16 — Unsigned comment by 189.128.32.139 (talk) at 08:08 on 8 January 2012 (UTC)

well, i cant help you with getting him to wait, but you can make him invincible if you use setessential 00097E1E 1. He wont ever die, but if his health gets fully depleted while your riding him you'll get knocked off.--71.22.182.47 08:14, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
If you mount a different horse, Frost will remain where ever he was when you mounted that horse. (Eddie The Head 08:17, 21 January 2012 (UTC))

Frost Respawn[edit]

Does anyone know if Frost respawns, as Shadowmere (supposedly) does? I tried waiting thirty in-game days, and checking both where he died and the Black-Briar Lodge, to no avail. Yoshi71089 03:21, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Strangely Skittish[edit]

Frost seems inconsistent as to whether he'll help you in a fight. If I go out my way to provoke a Thalmor patrol, Frost jumps right in. But when a dragon shows up, he bolts, which is especially odd since it seems like most AI is programmed to be immediately hostile to dragons. I've also seen him fight wolves, but run away from a skooma dealer. SonGoharotto (talk) 18:12, 22 October 2012 (GMT)

advantages of keeping frost?[edit]

from what i read in the short article and on the discussion page it doesn't seem like there is any advantage to keeping frost at all. i dont know how many times i've just abandoned my purchased horse in the middle of nowhere, especially when i cant find it after a battle. why keep a horse who wont fast travel with you if you are not riding on it ? — Unsigned comment by Hempal (talkcontribs) at 08:45 on 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Erm... Frost, Shadowmere and all purchased horses will (or at least should) fast travel with you even if you left them on the other side of Skyrim. When travelling to a walled city they will wait at the stable, it's the only time they won't spawn right next to you. Also, having a backup horse somewhere while waiting for Shadowmere to respawn is always nice. 92.136.107.29 12:49, 22 March 2013 (GMT)
Also, Frost has more stamina than your average horse, so he can run longer. Mind you, Shadowmere is even better in this respect, but you have to kill a bunch of people for the Dark Brotherhood before you get her. Plus - free horse without incurring a bounty if you do it right. Purchasing a regular horse is expensive early in the game. Can't go wrong there. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 13:02, 22 March 2013 (GMT)

Frost's dam[edit]

I was just thinking, I know the notes section says that Frost's dam is unknown, which does appear in the lineage papers, however, perhaps the page should include another possibility. Frost's dam could simply be named "Unknown". I know it sounds odd, but there are a couple pieces of evidence that point to it as a possibility. First, "Unknown" is capitalized, and second, Frost's great damsire is listed, which means that clearly they know who Frost's dam is, since they know who the dam's sire was. Perhaps an edit to include this could be a good idea. — Unsigned comment by 69.123.186.49 (talk) at 17:08 on 18 January 2015 (UTC)
