Purpose[edit]

Any purpose or thought behind this cottage or its occupant? Seems fairly high level for its location. — Unsigned comment by Bwross (talkcontribs) at 12:41 on 16 November 2011

It's a hut with an antisocial hermit mage :D Also nearby is one of the Dragon Roosts with a Word Wall and it'd so close that the Dragon from the Roost can detect you near the cottage leading to the common Dragon attacks here. Lord Eydvar 01:00, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

The purpose is for replenishing ingredients and making potions or un/enchant items. You can also sell the items looted if using a follower via the unsteal stolen item pickup process. Also a good place to slay respawning dragons/beasts. For quest purposes it is not quest related in vanilla.FalloutIII 2013 (talk) 15:23, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Dragon Hotspot[edit]

Have read others claiming it to be a dragon hotspot. Experienced one myself lending creedence to the claim. — Unsigned comment by Bwross (talkcontribs) at 10:01 on 17 November 2011

Nirnroot[edit]

There was no nirnroot sample when I went there. — Unsigned comment by 85.216.53.96 (talk) at 22:39 on 19 November 2011

Related Quest?[edit]

Why is The Break of Dawn a related quest? I fail to see the link, as I visited this cottage shortly after Meridia's quest. (AT THE RISK OF ADDING NONSENSE) 70.114.63.215 13:37, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

It is one of the locations where Meridia's Beacon can be found, initiating the quest. Wolok gro-Barok 13:39, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Player Housing?[edit]

are any of the containers safe? If so, it would make a cozy little home.Kremlin16 19:37, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Drelas Cottage a playerhouse Mod.[edit]

I made a mod for this Cottage a while back, you can get it here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4211 ¨¨¨¨ — Unsigned comment by Sk8on (talkcontribs) at 00:44 on 25 February 2012

A mod when i can enter a few lines of what not, what a joke. — Unsigned comment by 68.238.152.79 (talk) at 17:46 on 28 April 2012
Don't dis other peoples content. If you had the decency to check the mod you would see a new quest, a new name, your spouse would live there, amongst other added content. Now be nice. The Silencer has spokenTalk 17:58, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Console commands to make this a player house[edit]

Drelas cottage can be turned into a player home on PC by typing the following into the console when the player is there (Don't enter the parentheses content, this is only the explanation for each command. This is cell specific, in order for this to work in others cells you need to change the respawn zone id for line 2, the correct id can be found in the creation kit.)

player.SetCellOwnership DEBCD (Set player as the owner of all the containers and items)
SetZoneRespawns E66AC 0 (Disable the respawn zone "DrelasCottage", this is what is resetting everything)
SetZoneRespawns F90B1 1 (Enables the respawn zone "NoRespawnZone" which is used in player house cells)

Hope this is of any use ! — Unsigned comment by 217.210.144.251 (talk) at 23:45 on 5 March 2012

Any idea why he's hostile?[edit]

I usually like to know why someone would attack me on sight... :s Any backstory in notes etc found in the cottage? — Unsigned comment by Grimblade175 (talkcontribs) at 08:27 on 6 November 2012

Not that I am aware of, he is probably just a necromancer like many others. Sometimes enemies have their own unique name or location just for the sake of adding some variety to the game. RIM (talk) 11:25, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
No idea. I assumed he was going to be related to a quest that never got implemented. Some side quests remained unfinished at launch. By intentional choice or lack of time, hard to say. If someone wanted to make a mod to finish "loose ends" . . . :D 71.86.58.104 00:24, 7 April 2014 (GMT)

Owned Items[edit]

It's odd that taking items from the cottage is regarded as stealing even though the sole occupant is inherently hostile... Bushwhacker (talk) 09:00, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

I'm aware this is a necropost, but I want to leave this here for future viewers; Generally all items in houses such as this are stealing, regardless of the hostility of the owner. Technically, they still do belong to someone. AlphaAbsol (talk) 03:48, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
