Dragonrend instant elimination?[edit]

I am Level 59, and I have Dawnguard and Hearthfire installed (PC). My character encountered a Revered Dragon just outside Silent Moons Camp. It flew over, attacked and caused some damage, and then turned and landed between my character and the wall of the stone structure in the upper part of the camp, about seventy to a hundred feet away from me. As soon as the dragon came to ground, I hit it with Dragonrend and... it instantly and completely disappeared. Vanished. Not there. I scoured the area where it had landed, and waited several hours, but it never came back. Odd. 174.6.51.17 04:36, 17 January 2013 (GMT)

Miraak on Dragonrend[edit]

I don't have the exact quote (I can go into the CK and find the dialogue later), but when you use Dragonrend on Miraak, he comments that you're trying to "use his own shout against him". I'm just wondering if that tidbit of information has a place on this page, or on the Miraak page, or somewhere else. Dialogue for Miraak should be on his NPC page. — ABCface 15:05, 12 June 2013 (GMT)

Bugs Cleanup[edit]

  • When using Dragonrend on a dragon that spawned in a dragon lair, after the enemy icon of the dragon has disappeared from the compass, it will fly out of the ground from under the lair.

"If there is no valid landing location nearby..."[edit]

It should be noted that "valid location" is not "nearby the player", but "nearby where the dragon currently is vis-a-vis what cell it is currently flying over." There have been several times I nailed a dragon with this shout, only to have them simply fly off into the distance and never return. Even when I was standing near a spot I have seen dragons crash-land in and killed them in, if the dragon itself is flying over a cell that the game returns as "no valid landing location nearby", it will fly off into the distance and disappear. This has most frequently happened when I was standing east or southeast of Bonestrewn Crest, and the dragon itself was to the east of me. One hit with Dragonrend, and I watch it fly off in the general direction of Morrowind and disappear into the distance. Chasing it, even using PC console codes to boost running speed and jump height to where I can easily keep up, does not alter this behavior - it simply flies faster, eventually disappearing as it passes over the mountains and beyond the area the player can enter. But, if I nail the dragon when I'm east of Bonestrewn Crest and it's WEST of me, it easily finds a landing spot (though often I may not get to it fast enough before it's airborne again). Thus, it isn't "a clear spot nearby the player", but whether the current cell the dragon is flying over returns a landing spot when the dragon's pathing AI calls for it. If it doesn't, it defaults to some location waaaaaay far away, beyond the playable map, and usually to the southeast.174.28.90.34 17:21, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
