Imperial Legion in Darkwater Crossing[edit]

In my game there is an Imperial Legion in Darkwater Crossing instead of the Stormcloak Soldiers. I think that it depends on which side is chosen by the player regarding the rebellion. --Arkhon 05:23, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

I have done one quest for the Imperials but none for the Stormcloaks, yet I saw Stormcloaks here. In my save, Riften has been taken by the Imperials from the treaty. I guess this place belongs to Windhelm because after I paid off the bounty for trespassing, I got teleported to Windhelm. 50.0.25.231 08:31, 18 January 2013 (GMT)

Ulfric's ambush[edit]

Is it worth mentioning that this is the supposed place the Ulfric was captured by the imperials (according to ralof)? Rawb 16:02, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Seems interesting enough to note, if you ask me. VycDarkshadow (talk) 03:26, 28 February 2013 (GMT)

Corundrum ingots and ores[edit]

There are 6 corundrum ingots and 2 corundrum ores inside Verner and Annekka's House. All of them are owned. I added a description of where to find 3 ingots and 3 ores to the article about Goldenrock Mine, but perhaps it should be mentioned here instead and perhaps there should be a "notable loot" section in this article. — Unsigned comment by 82.95.238.126 (talk) at 13:58 on 17 October 2012‎

Vilkas[edit]

I found Vilkas here at Darkwater Crossing. I have already completed the Companions main quest line. Is it a bug? 50.0.25.231 08:29, 18 January 2013 (GMT)

What was he doing here? - Chez talkemail 08:49, 18 January 2013 (GMT)
It's a random encounter. Usually Vilkas is with Ria, if i remember correctly. VycDarkshadow (talk) 03:26, 28 February 2013 (GMT)

Why do we have to find it?[edit]

Ralof states that the Dragonborn walked into an Imperial ambush here, so technically, shouldn't we have the location marked on the map from the beginning of the game? We already discovered the location, it was just before the game begins. — Unsigned comment by 98.28.225.144 (talk) at 22:01 on 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Wasn't it the border that the Dragonborn tried to cross, and the ambush ensued? Darkwater Crossing isn't near any borders. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 23:05, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes, but Ralof does clearly state that his men were ambushed by Imperials just outside Darkwater Crossing, and that the Dragonborn walked right into it. So what may have happened is that the Dragonborn crossed the border, followed Ralof's men to Darkwater Crossing, and into the ambush. Either that or he told Ralof before the game begins that he was trying to cross the border. — Unsigned comment by 98.28.225.144 (talk) at 00:33 on 24 March 2016 (UTC)
There's nothing to suggest the LDB was at Darkwater Crossing, especially since Pale Pass emerges from Cyrodiil just south of Helgen. Regardless, there's no logical gameplay reason for a random location to be marked on the player's map before they've ever been there while playing. —Legoless (talk) 18:13, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
The LDB? DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 16:42, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
Last Dragonborn. —Legoless (talk) 20:22, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
At the start of the game, Ralof states "You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, just like us, and that thief over there." So the Dragonborn walked into an Imperial ambush. During "Before the Storm", Ralof clearly says that "the Imperials ambushed us just outside Darkwater Crossing." So the ambush that the Dragonborn walked into was at Darkwater Crossing. Therefore, the Dragonborn was near Darkwater Crossing before the game begins, and technically already knows it's location. So, logically, it shouldn't have to be found a second time. Gameplay wise, it's understandable why they didn't mark it. I'm not arguing that. I'm saying that, lore-wise, at least, the Dragonborn should know where Darkwater Crossing is, because in-game dialogue confirms that he was there before the game begins. So it's either an oversight or a mistake on Bethesda's end. That or they didn't think anyone would notice. It just bugs me because they overlooked something so obvious, and it makes the game feel a little less real. Granted, though, I never took Bethesda for perfectionists. — Unsigned comment by 98.28.225.144 (talk) at 00:43 on 2 April 2016

() I think that if Bethesda had placed a map marker at darkwater crossing, more poeple would shout "BUG". Anyways, that's how Bethesda decided to ship the game. If you would like to have a discussion about wether this should have been different, I'd ask you to please head over to our forums. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:57, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

I always assumed that the voice actor of Ralof mixed up Darkwater with Greywater, as Greywater is near the border just south of Helgen. ~~ Emma — Unsigned comment by Emma of Falkreath (talkcontribs) at 01:46 on 12 November 2017‎
This is unlikely because Ralof also says it has been two days since the ambush. Hadvar tells you that he thought General Tullius was taking the prisoners to Cyrodiil, but changed his mind. I think Ralof is correct about Darkwater Crossing and Tullius was nearing Pale Pass, perhaps already past it, when he decided to turn back and carry out the executions at Helgen. The only problem with Ralof's dialogue is that he says the Last Dragonborn was in the same ambush, but assumes you were crossing the border. I find it more likely that the Imperials caught you crossing the border while they were near Pale Pass. It would explain why it took you two days to wake up as well. —Dillonn241 (talk) 02:32, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

Says the Guards are "Stormcloak Guards" in wiki; However NPCs in-game at location are Labeled "Stormcloak Soldiers" ?![edit]

Looking through the wiki stormcloak guards and stormcloak soldiers are different NPCs. Maybe paper needs a slight correction? Bonus points if you can figure out which base ids the ones at this location are actually using. I initially thought maybe a typo except the link is wrong too. Random Encounter - Companions Hunting[edit]

Darkwater Crossing is strangely a spawn point for Companions Hunting random encounter, like Farkas and companions fighting a bear. They can spawn there even when you just pass nearby and choose not to discover the place. This is also possibly the reason Annekke can bug out and become hostile for no reason if you get close but choose not to go there first and discover the place later.

In my recent game, I passed by the bridge to Darkwater Crossing and went straight to Darkwater Pass to rescue Derkeethus first. I hadn't yet discovered Darkwater Crossing. After the rescue, I followed the flow of the water fall to reach Darkwater Crossing (jump down the water fall 3 times). Annekke became hostile for no reason. There was a dead bear there, near the camp. So to find out what happened, I reloaded a previous save where my player character is on the road to the bridge. This time I went straight to Darkwater Crossing first and found out Farkas spawn there fighting a bear. Athis and Torvar just walked away earlier across the bridge leaving Farkas and a guard fighting the bear. This was night time. After this, I went to rescue Derkeethus and came back again to Darkwater Crossing, Annekke did not become hostile this time. So I knew Annekke becoming hostile has something to do with Companions random encounter spawn there. The dead bear did not get disabled by the game even after coming back long time later so I had to drag it to let it flow down the river to stop the residents there for continuously "mourning" the bear.

If you fast travel next time to Darkwater Crossing, you can walk to the bridge to trigger the spawn. The other side of the bridge is also a random encounter spawn point. If you don't cross the bridge but go beyond the bridge a bit alongside the river, and come back to Darkwater Crossing, you could have a chance to see Companions Hunting spawn there. In my case, Njada and a mammoth spawned there once (I had Aela as follower) but no fighting and the mammoth strangely followed Njada instead. 115.134.179.16 06:34, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
