I know it says the Briarheart Geis cannot be found in game, but I have found it. I play on the PS3, and found it where it said it was found. It may be a glitch that others haven't found it, I don't know. Just saying I do have it. 65.65.62.48 04:26, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Can you prove this? Take a picture of your screen with the item highlighted in your inventory or something? :P Narzul 04:38, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
I wish I could, but I don't have the character any more, since as my first he was too spread out in his skills and couldn't cut it at higher levels. I do remember that I found it, and laughed at it's enchantment(seemed kind of useless). I actually don't remember if I found it in Lost Valley Redoubt, or some other Forsworn area. I'll try looking for it again, and post a picture if I do find it. 65.65.62.48 06:51, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Let me know how that works out. :) Narzul 16:34, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

I put that statement in there that it could not be found in game since no mention of it was found on the internet. I searched, and only encountered one page which listed all the items in game with their data from the game, and this was listed as Lost Valley Redoubt sword or something. I scoured that ruin, and I asked for help, and nobody I knew could find it. I have an xbox360. Perhaps it is associated with a quest? I still really doubt it though. --Minimang 06:16, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

I just did a search in the game data for probably the third time, so I figured I should post the results here so I don't end up doing it yet again. The basic result is that I'm not finding any place where it's used. Until we get full access to the game scripts, the search isn't 100% conclusive, but it covers all the basics. Specifically
  • There is no fixed instance of the axe -- it is not sitting on the ground or on a shelf anywhere
  • It does not appear in any leveled lists, in any containers, or in the default inventory of any NPCs or creatures (with the sole exception of being in the "All Standard Weapons" chest used for developer/QA testing; that chest does not appear in game).
  • It is not referenced in the quest data or quest variables for the miscellaneous quest that gets triggered when you enter Lost Valley Redoubt.

Nephele check the inventory list for the Dead Briarheart that gets raised by the 2 Hagravens. I've noticed he ALWAYS has an enchanted leveled War Axe and Sword. I'm wondering if he's supposed to be given the Briarheart Geis when he comes to life but it's not linked up right. That would make the most sense. Lord Eydvar 05:20, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

No charge enchantment[edit]

There's very little documentation on this enchantment, so I did some experimenting to satisfy my curiosity:

1. Your Enchanting skill and Perks will boost the maximum magnitude of the enchantment over the base 5, as does potions which boost enchanting effects. With 100 Enchanting and all Perks, I get "12 damage to Nords" which is boosted to 14 with an Enchanter's Elixir.

2. Decreasing the magnitude also decreases the number of charges, rather than increase them like every other weapon enchantment, so "12 damage to Nords" has 12 charges and "1 damage to Nords" has 1 charge.

3. Since the magnitude/charge ratio is broken, the enchantment is effectively free. The weapon will not have an enchantment effect placed upon it, no effect is placed on a target receiving damage from the weapon, and the charges will never decrease with use.

4. After combat testing, I'm reasonably certain the enchantment doesn't actually do anything. Unlike dead bodies resisting Soul Trap and man/mer targets resisting Huntsman's Prowess, no message appears saying that Briarheart Geis is resisted from attacking (for example) an Orc. Somebody else will have to dig around in the files to confirm this, but I'm guessing there is nothing attached to this enchantment, not even a script like Silver weapons use.

5. For gameplay purposes, the only indication that your weapon even has an enchantment on it at all is that the Elemental Fury Shout will not work with it.

In conclusion, the only possible use for Briarheart Geis without modding to make it work is if you want to customize the name of a weapon. (And since I'm OCD like that, it's perfect for me.) SonGoharotto (talk) 23:13, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
