WHERE IS THE ARGONIAN WINE?? — Unsigned comment by 109.158.162.197 (talk) at 14:52 on 20 November 2011

In the kitchen and on the shelf next to the table --SPMcKinney 02:57, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Didn't get the wine; still got the inheritance.[edit]

One day a courier just came up to me and said i got an inheritance. Thought it ws some trap or a mis-addressed letter or some sort of new quest. turns out, brenuin died. (almost thought balgruuf died becuase his name ws the first one i saw in the letter).

I remembered that a while back, i had refused to feed Brenuin's bad habit. he was a bit upset, but i've been giving him a gold piece pretty much everytime i drop by whiterun and see him.

i thought initially that not getting the wine caused him to die. but i guess either he would eventually or it was just random.

But for the inheritance, i guess giving him a gold piece would be enough to get it. — Unsigned comment by 208.198.0.57 (talk) at 00:43 on 29 November 2011

Same thing happened to me. I didn't even know him by name until I looked him up on wiki. On this character I talked to him one time only and gave him a gold piece. I didn't give him the wine and told him I wasn't going to feed his bad habit. My guess is, just giving a gold piece to him once (and possibly any begger for that matter?) would be enough for you to get an inheritance letter from them should they die. --69.205.180.81 20:40, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Brenuin Died[edit]

I stepped out of the today and Brenuin just fell over dead. No attacker, no arrow, he just collapsed. He was one of the first people I'd met in my adopted hometown of Whiterun, and he died right before my eyes. I mean, he was a drunk, but that's still pretty upsetting. I gave him a Septim every time I went into white run, and got him his ale. I actually felt sad for the guy. So I dragged his body to the Whiterun hall of the dead. no one else in white run even noticed him. Damn you Bethesda for making such an immersive game. — Unsigned comment by 71.206.224.58 (talk) at 17:10 on January 17, 2012

He died during my gameplay too. I never saw him die, but I got 2 letters at the same time, talking about his death. Characters will die at random, so maybe you just saw it happen. I know it's pretty immersive, lol. I want to adopt ALl the kids. ~Vashtari — Unsigned comment by 64.187.230.132 (talk) at 04:46 on 3 September 2013
He died after I hid the ebony blade away in Labyrinthian with the wooden mask. Just got the inheritance letter walking into Morthal??? Coincidence? Wink wink nod nod — Unsigned comment by 174.197.205.113 (talk) at 01:26 on 3 September 2022 (UTC)
Came out of Breezehome on my way to the blacksmith when I suddenly got a message stating that I failed the "Steal Argonian Ale" quest. I spotted Brenuin near the market being inspected by Nazeem (who still smugly asked if I'd ever been to the Cloud District while checking Brenuin for a pulse). I reloaded my auto-save that was created when exiting Breezehome, grabbed Brenuin's ID, and used the command "moveto player" to pull him over to me. Sure enough, he had a couple of HP left and was slumped on the ground on the verge of death. No idea why he's bleeding HP over time, but it's not the first time he's died in one of my playthroughs randomly. --Norri Matora 05:53, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

Voice Audio Volume Doesn't Fade Correctly[edit]

Brenuin is the only NPC I've noticed that does this, but his couple random dialog can be heard at full volume, even when he is far away. What I mean is everyone else's voice fades away and gets quieter when they get a few steps away, and gets really quiet as you walk away. But Brenuin's voice volume has no change between being close or being farther away. Also, his random dialog goes off when I'm not near him. This may be the way this aspect works though, as he begs for money from people. The point is he can be next to another NPC far away from me, and if they are talking, I can barely hear the other NPC, but his audio is just as loud as if he was standing next to me. For awhile I would do circles looking for him since it sounded like he was next to me, but I finally figured out it's just that his audio volume doesn't get quieter like every other NPC. Maybe this could be confirmed by someone else and added to his notes section. It is a bug of course but it doesn't affect gameplay other than it's annoying. I really can't stand the way the town drunks and beggars are depicted in Skyrim. Plus, they like almost everyone else has so little dialog, that you hear the same 2 or 3 lines from them, it's just that Brenuin's couple lines of dialog can be heard loud even when he's far away. It's becomming so annoying I'm either going to kill him or buy a house somewhere else lol... --D. Gemini 19:54, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

It seems it isn't just him, all the beggars are like that from what I can tell, but yes it can get annoying. --SPMcKinney 02:54, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Appropriate name?[edit]

His name sounds a lot like Brännvin, as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%A4nnvin — Unsigned comment by 88.114.104.86 (talk) at 15:54 on 25 November 2012

That would be funny, but it also depends on pronunciation. Doesn't seem very similar to me. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:01, 25 November 2012 (GMT)
It is prenounced the same, being swedish I noticed at once which gave me quite a laugh. - Genin at 10:th of june 2013 — Unsigned comment by 83.233.21.29 (talk)
If it really is pronounced the same (according to our resident Swede, thanks Genin/anonymous!), I would say that this is a very clever joke and a very good catch. Easter egg perhaps? *WoahBro►talk 21:08, 10 June 2013 (GMT)
It wouldn't fit as an easter egg, but I would agree that the etymology is noteworthy enough to add to the article (if it is in fact pronounced the same- could use some input from another who knows!). — ABCface 21:27, 10 June 2013 (GMT)
Before I say anything else, I would we need a Swede to confirm this for sure. Anyways, based on the pronunciation by Google Translate (yeah yeah, not too reliable, but something to go by), it does sound fairly similar, not exact, but similar. Again, another Swede should confirm this. *WoahBro►talk 01:14, 11 June 2013 (GMT)

() Well, I can see the similarity, but I'm not sure it's noteworthy. I'm from Denmark and I can think of numerous "it-sounds-like"-names in Skyrim, even very obvious ones (Sebastian Lort is a good example, as Lort is the danish word for Shit), yet I don't think they should be noted - as with all etymology, if we add this one, we're obliged to add them everywhere. --Krusty (talk) 09:24, 11 June 2013 (GMT)

Actually Krusty, the most recent CP discussion about this ended with the consensus that we take these on a case-by-case basis. There is a very large difference between "Lort" sounding like "shit" (Sebastian Lort's character has absolutely nothing to do with that in any way). However, as "Brännvin" is a type of liquor, it is quite relevant to Brenuin, whose persona in the game is that of a drunkard. So if the pronunciation is in fact similar, I for one would say it is noteworthy enough for the article. — ABCface 13:21, 11 June 2013 (GMT)
If it does sound the same, I agree that it should be mentioned, the same way Farkas and Vilkas are A----N----I----L (talk) 10:41, 11 June 2013 (EDT)
Here's another Swede who can confirm that his name pronounces the same way as in Brännvin (wiki above), although not "as English sounded", since Brännvin is Swedish after all. lol ;-) Tockenen (talk) 15:27, 17 January 2014 (GMT)

Hireable as Farmhand[edit]

With the new "Farming" Creation, Brenuin is one of four individuals who can be hired by the player to be farmhands for the Goldenhills Plantation. I'm not sure if that's worth capturing here, and I'm not really all that skilled (or presumptuous) at editing to just add it. — Unsigned comment by 24.34.67.15 (talk) at 19:34 on 15 November 2021 (UTC)

I've confirmed this and added a note to the page. We should probably set up a full list on Skyrim:Farmhand. —Legoless (talk) 23:19, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
