Loot in Safe?[edit]

The safe in my bedrooms contained 257 gold, an ebony ingot, flawless emerald, glass armour, and a gold and saphirre ring. This definitely wasn't put there by me. Children have a habit of filling containers with random insects and sweets but I doubt these kinds of valuables so I assume the safe spawns with some random valuable loot in it. Anyone else gotten any? 87.194.26.132 00:51, 11 October 2012 (GMT)

I don't recall the specific contents, but the safe in mine had contents as well. Plus, that character didn't do any adopting, so it wasn't kids that put it there; it came with the safe. Quillan (talk) 03:46, 11 October 2012 (GMT)
I will confirm that the safe in the Bedrooms contained a large amount of gold, a random ingot, a random gem, a random enchanted piece of armor, an amulet of talos, and one other piece of forgettable clutter upon being added. Unsure on whether this safe respawns, but would be of interest to note if it does.--72.91.149.47 20:24, 22 June 2013 (GMT)Archmage Darium
The respawned (random AFAIK) loot in the safe is indeed not bad, but it DOES respawn. The safe in the bedroom is NOT a safe container. 200,000 Septims, a mountain of gemstones and a couple bottles of skooma vanished in my savegame. I had specifically put that in and stayed away for two weeks after missing similar content, but hadn't been sure if I HAD put it in there or somewhere else. Now I know. 109.43.114.3 04:05, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Additional Beds?[edit]

Does getting the Bedrooms house expansion do anything about the beds you can add in the upper room in the Main Hall? Or will you just have a bunch of beds in your manor? Lord Irvine (talk) 03:03, 21 October 2012 (GMT)

The Bedrooms wing addition doesn't affect what you can do in the Main Hall at all. If you build all the beds in the Main Hall and all the beds in the Bedrooms wing addition, you will have six beds. (If you keep the Small House instead of the Entryway, you can even have seven beds in your home.) So basically, building every possible bed would result in 'extra' beds around your home. But you can choose not to build some of them if this bothers you. — ABCface 04:48, 21 October 2012 (GMT)

Adoption[edit]

I told my steward to decorate the house and the bedroom has two small beds but I still can't tell a child to go to the Hearthfire house when I initiate the adopt dialog. Ideas? 50.0.25.231 10:12, 4 February 2013 (GMT)

Is it possible you're encountering the same bug I am? The children's beds are all showing as owed and I'm unable to do anything with them. Any chance of getting this listed as a confirmed bug if others confirm?
Themaskedferret (talk) 13:25, 24 August 2013 (GMT)
Do you have the children's chests built? Also, the bug regarding the steward and bards sleeping in the children's beds making it impossible to adopt is already marked on the Adoption page as a confirmed bug. — ABCface 13:41, 24 August 2013 (GMT)

Exterior Planters[edit]

(PS3 user) Regarding the planters that appear when adding the bench options to the exterior. . . although described as "empty" and "can't be filled" on the "Bedrooms" page, they actually contain snowberries in my game. Maybe all planters spawn them over time, or maybe it's because the steward decorated my bedrooms option. I don't know, but thought I'd point it out.MrC (talk) 16:48, 6 March 2013 (GMT)

Interesting. Can you interact with them like the planters in the greenhouse? (That is, can you clear the snowberries and replace it with another ingredient/food? — ABCface 19:29, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
The snowberries can be harvested, but that's all. These planters can't be planted in or cleared. They don't contain "fertile" soil. They aren't like those in the "Greenhouse" addition.MrC (talk) 18:43, 9 March 2013 (GMT)
Okay, that's what I figured. I'm guessing the snowberries appear after a certain amount of time rather than appearing right away, I'll add a little note to the table to show that the planters don't stay empty forever, for now. — ABCface 18:34, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Small Shelf. Looks like a lectern?[edit]

It looks like it should have a display case on top and has the hinges built into the woodwork; it's just another bugged piece of furniture.--86.21.65.220 22:29, 30 March 2013 (GMT)

It's possible that's what was intended, but the table describes what we know as fact, not what we can guess. — ABCface 23:31, 30 March 2013 (GMT)

Round Table and Chairs[edit]

They're shown as buildable here, but never show up on the workbench to build. And now I think I know why. The table, instead of being buildable on its own (like every other workbench item) is shown on the workbench as the washbasin in the same exterior. But I'm guessing the washbasin's own workbench item takes precedence over the table's attempt at usurpation. Spellcheck says that's word.Vainamoinen -Talk -Stuff 03:17, 6 February 2014 (GMT)

In other words: There is one option to build in the bedrooms (in CK the keyword BYOHBuildingInteriorPart085WashbasinExterior01) connected with two recipes (in CK the Constructible Objects BYOHHouseInteriorRecipePart085WashbasinExterior01 and BYOHHouseInteriorRecipePart086TableRoundChairsExterior01. Technically only 1 recipe can be used, so the one with the lower name, in this case the "85" is taken.
The USKP tried to fix this by disconnecting the table recipe from the washbasin keyword and adding the keyword for the table.
After doing a lot of research for the mechanics I think, the reason for the persisting missing of the table is it's missing reference (REFR). If you're looking in the CK at the cells of the houses (in this case the exterior ones), all building options for each house are constructed. It's pure chaos, because you see the west wing in all 3 options with all possible furniture placed together.
The round table with the chairs however is missing. In the game data there's no REFR for BYOHHouseInteriorPart086TableRoundChairsExterior01. Perhaps someone could place it in all 3 houses – not me, I only would mess up the architecture…
After placing it there have to be FLST entries and the keyword has to be added for the workbench. I would like to give this up to the USKP team, but I'm not willing to do another registration for the bug tracker forum… --CompleCCity (talk) 12:50, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

Exterior: Round Table and Chairs Not Building[edit]

Found a bug that isn't listed. The Round Table and Chairs furnishing in the Exterior section of the Carpenter's Workbench didn't build anything.104.15.180.18 03:28, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

No Double Bed[edit]

I built Lakeview Manor with the Bedroom wing. I wasn't ready to adopt kids or get married, so I put off building the beds so that when I built Windstad Manor and Heljarchen Hall, maybe my housecarls and stewards wouldn't go sleep in the bedroom wing at Lakeview Manor. Fast forward a few weeks and I've finished the Companions questline, started on the Mage's College questline, cleared Goldenglow estate, investigated Alva, cleared Movarth's Lair, bought Windstad Manor and Heljarchen Hall, gotten to level 90 in Conjuration, did the Conjuration ritual quest, enchanted a bunch of nifty gear, and got Windstad Manor built with a fully furnished entryway, main hall, alchemy tower, and enchanter's tower.

I decided it was time to think about family, so I built the child's beds and chests at Lakeview Manor and adopted Alesan. I can't adopt Sofie until I can purchase the Merchant perk or I will be unable to give her gifts.

Then I realized the double bed is no longer listed in the carpenter's workbench in the bedroom wing at Lakeview Manor. I opened the workbench again and again until it glitched and showed ALL the bedroom furnishings as if nothing had been built. I built the double bed, but the chest that is supposed to go at it's foot didn't get put in the menu for the carpenter's workbench. I cannot figure out how to get that chest to appear in the workbench menu. So I either live without that chest along with all the other things that don't get built properly in Hearthfire houses, or I replay more than half of what I've already done with this character to include the entire Companions questline, and not only do I hate forced followers, I particularly hate Aela as a follower. But if I don't get that chest built, it will grate on me every time I enter the room, and the despawn bug is already a source of constant frustration.. And I'm on a Playstation, so I am unable to do Bethesda's debugging for them using console commands.

I think I'm reaching my limit for tolerating the glitches in Skyrim. I keep running into bugs I can't fix without going so far back in saves that I might as well start over. I'd keep more saves, but I've already hit the maximum save count on one playthrough attempt and found out how many problems that can cause. And if I have to keep restarting the game every time I hit a glitch I cannot fix or work around, I'll never finish this stupid game. Is there any way to fix this missing chest at the foot of the double bed in the Bedroom wing on a Playstation?

Every time I get assigned a quest I'm checking the dungeon's UESP page to make sure going to that dungeon won't screw up a later quest and to find out about anything I need to make sure I do or don't do while I'm there. Every time I go to one of my Hearthfire homes, I'm afraid to save unless I have both my steward and housecarl in sight so I don't inadvertently save with one of them dead. I've taken to running around every city or settlement to check on all the residents before I save to make sure they're all alive, and I still wound up with Olfina Grey-Mane in a coffin in Whiterun's Hall of the Dead. I'm spending more time figuring out how to avoid, circumvent, and fix glitches than I am actually playing. I've spent more than TWO YEARS now trying to get through this game ONCE.

I know Skyrim is an old game but Bethesda is still selling it! If they're still selling it, they should be fixing it. I think it's time for me to write an angry letter to Bethesda, because until they change how they do business, they aren't getting another penny from me.

So does anyone have a workaround for the five billionth Skyrim glitch that has hit me, or should I just break my Skyrim disk and never purchase another Bethesda product?24.159.122.98 08:48, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Calm down, complaining to this degree about a small bug is not going to make it easy for anyone to help you. As far as I can tell, unfortunately, you may be stuck with the issue. You could try leaving the area and coming back, activating other benches, building some other objects, etc.
I don't think you should restart the game though if you can't fix it. I've done that enough times for silly reasons to know that it's not worth missing out on the later parts of the game to get the early parts "just right". Every playthrough in a game like this is eventually going to accumulate dead NPCs and glitched items. I still worry a bit about dead NPCs but if they do die you can think of that as part of the experience. The developers implemented the halls of the dead system for a reason, after all. You won't miss out on any quests worth remembering. —Dillonn241 (talk) 13:37, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
I didn't restart the game, but when I finally decided to try again, I went back to an earlier save. And found a brand new glitch. It wasn't that one small glitch, it was that one small glitch on top of all the other ones.24.159.122.98 19:55, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Uninstall and then reinstall the game, that might fix a few things. If you just want to finish the game once, then stop worrying about trying to do it perfectly, its almost impossible on a first go, and unfortunately unlikely in a Bethesda game due to their size and scope. In terms of saves, just use a few, and utilise the auto-saves more. Save before a quest, and if everything is ok, then overwrite that save afterwards. If you are trying to get trophies/achievements then use saves for the ones that might glitch or have problems, such as the deadric quests. If you just want to finish the main stories, then do them, forget about perfection, save that for when you have more experience of the game. It is always much more frustrating trying to do everything on a first playthrough, you are better off knocking the difficulty down to easy, rush through the main quests, learn more about how to take down enemies quicker and more efficiently with better weapons, then restart on a harder difficulty, take your time, know what skills you use/need most, and enjoy as much of the game as you can experience. PS. You might want to check out SR:Quest Timing (particularly the conflicts section). If you are really stuck you can also look to the Mods available, though they will disable trophies if that is your aim. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:41, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
I've reloaded from an earlier save, finished furnishing the bedroom wing at Lakeview Manor, adopted Alesan, and confirmed that I can give him gifts. I have to redo the Companions questline from the Glenmoril witches, but that's not as far back as I feared, and it gives me a chance to do a couple of things differently. I have to redo Movarth's Lair, rebuild Windstad Manor, rescue Orthorn again, and redo the Conjuration Ritual quest for Phinis Gestur, but it beats looking at that missing chest for the rest of the game and wondering what other associated glitches are hidden along with it. By the way, this is not my first attempt to get through this game; I'm now on my EIGHTH attempt.24.159.122.98 19:55, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
