Possibly broken NPC?[edit]

Has anyone else had any experience with this wandering NPC? (XBOX playthrough) I first encountered her walking from around Markarth saying she was on a pilgrimmage to see the restored Gildergreen. I'm guessing she spawns (or moves) once The Blessings of Nature is complete? She travels with an unnamed dog and is actually a powerful mage, I followed her around for a bit and saw her wipe out a small group of Forsworn by herself. I eventually moved on but later found her outside Whiterun next to the carriage for hire where she's been standing in place 24 hours a day (with the dog, and complaining about it's barking) for weeks now. You have the option of saying "Hello" to her and she repeats her pilgrimmage line but that's it. Was something supposed to happen that didn't? I would like to update her page here but would like better info first. — Unsigned comment by LosTheFail (talkcontribs) at 02:01 on 3 December 2011‎

I have also experienced this! I encountered her on the road, and she gave me her "going to Whiterun" speech, and then some time later, I saw her standing behind the big boulder by the carriage in front of Whiterun with her dog. It would seem someone forgot about the poor girl, as she's been standing there ever since! 75.18.190.20 12:59, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Same issue here. I actually never saw her walking around. One day she just showed up outside of Whiterun with her dog and now she won't leave or say anything else besides how she's making a pilgrimage. (99.136.224.214 06:41, 26 December 2011 (UTC))
I met her on the road walking eastward, due east of the Atronach Stone, just where the road curves to the north. (In other words, she was going away from Whiterun.) It was after completing the Guildergreen quest, again by bringing back the sap, not the seedling. She didn't mention any pilgrimage, though; she simply replied with short, snappy lines like "Want something? Make it quick!" I first noticed her ahead when she blasted a band of robbers to small pieces, so she is very powerful; she seemed to use Sparks or lightning and Oakflesh or some similar spell. However, she definitely did not have a dog with her at this point. She followed the road west and then north again, in the direction of Windhelm, past Steamcrag Camp. At one point, she nearly set the mammoths off, but they backed away at the last moment. She finally turned off the Windhelm road at Kynesgrove, circling the inn to go north and east up the path past the mine. She was closely following two Alyk'r warriors at this point, over the snow behind the mine and finally back to the Windhelm road. The Alyk'r turned off for Windhelm at Windhelm Stables, but she continued on over the bridge and took the south branch of the road after crossing. She walked south and west along the road following the bank of the river, and was finally killed there by a cave bear that jumped her suddenly. I suppose she's scripted to just wander until she finally runs into something too big for her to handle. --174.6.51.17 01:03, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
I've encountered her and her dog somewhere out there near a giant camp, and I never expected her to make it through the wilderness to Whiterun. But later on they did, and have been standing behind the carriage ever since. Interesting NPC, thought she was a potential Follower. — Unsigned comment by 24.188.191.190 (talk) at 02:38 on 24 March 2012‎
This has been fixed with latest game version 1.9.x: Ardwen NPC + dog will be correctly deleted after they reach the end-point and you move away. If you have an older savegame just use console command "setstage WEJS13 255". Hexaae (talk) 14:26, 13 August 2013 (GMT)
I have encountered Ardwen all over Skyrim. She never seems to ever reach Whiterun despite even finding her eastbound on the road from Rorickstead. Today I came across her again but something very strange happened. As I approached her on the road next to Lake Illinalta, the dog attacked me. She, however, took no notice of it. The dog was behaving just like a wolf, except it was barking. I led it back to Lakeview Manor where Rayya slew it. I went down to the road and spoke to Ardwen. She just recited her usual pilgrimage dialog and went her way.

She is rude[edit]

The only dialogue she gives me is rude dialogue like Speak Quickly other than that that's about all. — Unsigned comment by PrinceRetro (talkcontribs) on 01:15 29 May 2018 UTC
