enchantment effect[edit]

There seems to be a discrepancy between the text of the enchantment ("Speechcraft is 35% better") and the enchantment effect (Articulation, 25 pts). (At the lowest level, the articulation points are double the stated speechcraft bonus, implying a non-linear relationship between articulation and speechcraft effect) Is this because articulation points are applied in a more complex manner than most bonuses, or is there an error (either in the in-game description or here?) It is already mentioned in the notes section. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 08:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Allow me to address the gravamen of the question "Is this because articulation points are applied in a more complex manner?"

Let B = Barter (aka Better Prices, Haggle, Articulation),
     S = Speech, and
     L = Level

then these linear equations explain the relationship:

    B = Truncate( 2.5 * L  + 7.5 )   and   S = 5 * L

So the chart for the Amulet of Articulation on the main page has:

Level    Articulation  Speech
  1        10             5
  2        12            10
  3        15            15
  4        17            20
  5        20            25
  6        22            30
  7        25            35

The chart shows Articulation and Speech as functions of the amulet's level. However, the linear equation:

  B =  Truncate ( 2.5 * (S/5) + 7.5)

would also express the relationship in this instance. This is not the usual way in which Speech contributes to determining the prices of items.

The Articulation number is not explicitly mentioned in the in-game description of the item. The Speech points claimed are not added to Speech when it is applied to Bartering but the Articulation calculation is used instead. However, the Speech points are applied to persuasion and are usually enough to guarantee success.

Hope that helps. Kalevala (talk) 04:12, 14 January 2013 (GMT)

From what I see, all persuasion checks directly test for the amulet (making it a guaranteed success), any Speech increase in that case is a moot point. --Alfwyn (talk) 14:58, 8 February 2014 (GMT)

Transcluding Bugs[edit]

After noticing that bugs are transcluded over to Skyrim:Leveled Items, I thought there was an issue with this page's noinclude tags caused by recent edits. After reading through the history, I realized that it was really an attempt to explain the "See Bugs" notation in the info box. I really dislike this decision. For one thing, it messes with the table of contents on the Leveled Items page. Another reason I dislike it is that the "See Bugs" already links to the bugs section on this page, so if anyone were to click it they would be taken to the bugs section (note that it takes the user to this page, and not simply down to the bugs section on the Leveled Items page). Lastly, it messes with the style used with all the other transcluded items. No other item includes any other section besides the intro in the inclusion, and that bit of inconsistency really rubs me in the wrong way.

As it was before, I was happy with the bugs section being linked. However, if this is considered a big enough issue, I'm open to suggestions on how to fix this. I do not think it should be left as it is, however. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:08, 30 September 2012 (GMT)

I agree that the current solution is rather clunky, and I didn't like it very much either. I felt that the bug was notable, considering that it is the only leveled item that is clearly broken, but I don't feel strongly about whether or not to transclude it. The {{NewLeft}} messed it up a bit, because I had in mind a basic introduction followed by a short, two sentence explanation that the leveled list was broken, so that formatting-wise, it looked like a slightly longer summary. The two words "(see bugs)" on the Artifact Summary are insufficient, in my opinion, and I feel that at least something else needs to be added to the main transcluded text. Perhaps something along the lines of,
The leveled list for this item is bugged. For more information, see the Amulet of Articulation article.
If we did that solution, then we should consider standardizing that, for all Artifacts. • JAT 16:13, 1 October 2012 (GMT)
I actually intended to do that initially, but decided to only link the articles in the names as I found that to be a bit too clunky. I guess great minds adopt the ideas that lesser ones throw away :P. Anyway, it's still better this way then it was. I'll standardize it across the pages to leave no room for confusion as to where the leveled stats and all other information is kept. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:15, 1 October 2012 (GMT)

Bug fixed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch[edit]

The bug causing all versions of the amulet to be randomly assigned at all levels was silently fixed by the USKP without being mentioned in the changelog. See here: https://afktrack.afkmods.com/index.php?a=issues&i=12235 Soggybobcat (talk) 18:53, 11 March 2013 (GMT)

Can you confirm that it was actually fixed? All I see there was that Arthmoor marked your addition as a duplicate of another bug, not that it was fixed at all. Jeancey (talk) 18:56, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
Checked with TES5Edit; it's been fixed. Soggybobcat (talk) 19:04, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
Could you provide a link to the other bug report then? Just so I can confirm through that. Jeancey (talk) 19:06, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
Can't find it on AFK mods. It may have been lost on the switchover from Bugzilla, or a bug report may not have been submitted at all. We should ask Arthmoor to 100% confirm. Soggybobcat (talk) 19:14, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
I can't find it either. Keep in mind, USKP fixes some other issues with the amulet, like tempering and keyword issues. Are you sure that isn't what you are seeing in TES5Edit? Jeancey (talk) 19:16, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
Positive. The list now gives out the proper amulets at levels 8,15,22,29,36, and 43. Soggybobcat (talk) 19:21, 11 March 2013 (GMT)
Is there any way you can test it in game? If I recall correctly, the list was correct, but the script in the quest wasn't picking it correctly from that list, instead was picking it randomly, rather than based on the level. Jeancey (talk) 19:25, 11 March 2013 (GMT)

I talked to Arthmoor and the changelog has been updated with the fix; see the 1.1 update. Soggybobcat (talk) 21:11, 11 March 2013 (GMT)

This was actually an item that was fixed clear back in August of 2012. When the USKP transitioned over to my stewardship, some of the documentation of things fixed between 1.0 and 1.1 got lost. This was likely among them. Further, our bug tracker is a bit of a mess having been through two tracking system changeovers. Right now, most of the old bugs are going to be marked as fixed in December of 2012, which is obviously incorrect. Some of the fix dates will be wrong too as we've been cleaning up data as it turns up.Arthmoor (talk) 21:18, 11 March 2013 (GMT)

Perk benefits[edit]

I have this amulet version 000F6904 which is rated to give 3 points to armor. I have 100% Light Armor and all 5 Agile Defenders and the amulet yields 6 points. I cannot say whether that is due to the 5 Agile Defenders or to 100% skill, but I can say that it goes to 8 points with all light armor, and to 10 with matching elven armor. I've changed the note to reflect this in game result which can be easily confirmed. Kalevala (talk) 21:19, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

In the creation kit, it looks like Agile Defender doesn't contribute, but the Light Armor skill itself should, as would Custom Fit and Matching Set, as you note. The amulet doesn't count either for or against those perks, but it will benefit from them if you're wearing the correct combination of armour. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:23, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
